Washington Free Beacon: Half of Americans Think Hunter Biden Received Special Treatment: Poll
A Reuters/Ipsos poll found that 50% of Americans believe President Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, received preferential treatment in his recent plea agreement on tax charges. Republicans were more likely to see preferential treatment than Democrats. The case is not expected to affect Joe Biden's reelection campaign.
The Babylon Bee: Adam Schiff Left In Wide-Eyed Shock After Being Censured
Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff was censured by the House of Representatives for lying about Trump/Russia collusion. Schiff is outraged and believes Putin is behind the attack. Republicans see this as a victory against politicians who misuse intelligence resources.
National Review: Justice Alito Has Done Nothing Wrong
Progressive groups are targeting conservative Supreme Court Justices, with Samuel Alito being the newest target. These groups are attacking the justices in bad faith with dishonest character assassinations and comically flimsy hit pieces. The institutional apparatus of universities, bar associations, journalism, and left-leaning foundations that has long surrounded the justices with comfortable influences is being broken, leading to angst from progressives. This campaign is an effort to do to the Supreme Court what Donald Trump tried to do to the presidential election system after 2020 — to burn down the institution’s public legitimacy.
Justice Samuel Alito attended an Alaskan fishing trip in 2008 with billionaire Paul Singer. ProPublica, a dark-money-funded left-wing group, published a report on the trip and criticized Alito for not recusing himself from Singer-related cases. Alito has responded and has said that the current campaign against conservative justices has been characterized by comically flimsy hit pieces, bad analogies, and dishonest character assassination. The absence of formal disclosure of Singer’s role was not required, as it followed the Supreme Court's Rule 29.6 and federal court's Rule 7.1. The disclosure rules are aimed at alerting judges to potential conflicts.
Fox News: WSJ defends Alito against 'slanted' ProPublica piece alleging ethics violations: 'Built on partisan spin'
The Wall Street Journal editorial board has defended Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito against accusations that he violated ethics rules by failing to disclose a 2008 fishing trip with billionaire Paul Singer. In an op-ed, Alito argued that the trip was not subject to disclosure rules and therefore could not be considered an impropriety. The WSJ editorial board accused ProPublica of seeking to “thin” the Court rather than “pack” it by laying the groundwork for a future recusal attempt.
The media backlash for running Alito's op-ed is "hilarious," according to the Journal, given the same crowd's hostility to the newspaper itself. They further stated that the ProPublica attack on Alito and Clarence's Thomas represented a "larger story" involving the "left's fury at having lost control of the Court" and that their campaign was intended to "destroy the Court" by whatever means necessary. ProPublica was previously instrumental in attacking the ethics of Justice Thomas by drawing attention to his close friendship with a Texas real estate developer.
National Review: DeSantis: Trump’s Praise for Cuomo’s Covid Response Shows He’s ‘Full of It’
DeSantis criticized Trump for praising Cuomo's Covid response and misrepresenting Florida's pandemic governance. He questioned Trump's credibility and defended Florida's response as superior to New York's. Trump, who views DeSantis as a rival for the 2024 nomination, has made misleading allegations about DeSantis's pandemic handling and criticized his approach as governor. The former president's attacks represent a reversal from his previous praise of DeSantis and have drawn criticism from even Cuomo.
PJ Media: What Can Princeling Hunter Biden Do That You Can't?
Hunter Biden received a lenient plea deal for not paying his taxes and lying about being a crackhead on his federal gun background check form. He also admitted that his Burisma board gig came as a result of his last name and was given the position just three days before Vice President Biden's right-hand man announced U.S. support for Burisma's specialty in "alternative" fuels. He has gotten away with hiring prostitutes from a known sex trafficking ring, using racial slurs, being flagged by the U.S. Treasury Department for doing deals with a Chinese company with connections to the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and more.
Fox News: DeSantis endorsed by 15 South Carolina lawmakers
South Carolina lawmakers have given 15 endorsements to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ahead of his town hall event in North Augusta. State Sen. Josh Kimbrell said that "Governor DeSantis’ leadership has made Florida a refuge for those seeking freedom in a nation where it is under attack." This comes as DeSantis continues to campaign for the Republican Party nomination in the 2024 presidential election.
The Federalist: One Year After Dobbs, The Supreme Court Is Still Under Attack
One year after the Dobbs v. Jackson decision, which ruled that the Constitution does not include a "right to abortion," pro-lifers celebrate but Democrats, corporate media, and celebrities continue to complain. Democrats delegitimized the court with a smear campaign and, following the decision, called for the violent destruction of the judiciary. DOJ turned a blind eye to calls to arrest and prosecute, and after failed attempts to stifle confirmations, the left continues to aim to destroy the political institution that poses a threat to their unconstitutional agenda with a sham "ethics crisis" that only targets Republican-nominated justices.
The Right Scoop: Gov DeSantis: Trump is revealing himself to be FULL OF IT – [VIDEO]
DeSantis called out Trump for lying about his COVID record in Florida. He said if Trump has to make that argument, he doesn't have good arguments. DeSantis wants to beat Biden and bring policies for a landing.

Spectator USA: Avi Shlaim gets a lot wrong about Zionism and the Jews of Iraq
Avi Shlaim's memoir "Three Worlds" claims "undeniable proof of Zionist involvement in terrorist attacks" on Jewish targets in Baghdad, which allegedly pushed Iraqi Jews to flee to Israel. However, these claims have been challenged, as other factors such as persecution played a bigger role in the exodus of Iraqi Jews. Additionally, contemporary news reports from 1950-51 showed few references to these attacks, suggesting that their importance was exaggerated later for anti-Semitic propaganda. Despite some controversial theories, the Zionist project enabled the creation of a safe haven for Jews after centuries of persecution, culminating in the Holocaust. (, )
The Federalist Papers: Bud Light Gets 'Wake-Up Call': Worst News from Popular Gay Bars
A Minneapolis gay bar, The Saloon, has stopped selling Anheuser-Busch products because the company has not shown enough support for transgender model Dylan Mulvaney, who Bud Light recently partnered with. The decision comes after the 2Bears Tavern Group, which owns four gay bars in Chicago, made a similar decision in May. However, Bud Light has lost significant sales and support from its conservative customer base due to the partnership and subsequent response to backlash. The situation has been called a “wake-up call” for the company by the global chief marketing executive, and may be fueled by the loss of the perfect Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index rating.

The Economist: Pay for bosses in Britain falls far behind America. Tough luck
Pay for bosses in Britain is significantly lower than in America, raising concerns over London's ability to attract global talent. American CEOs earn double the going rate of those running FTSE 100 firms, leading some to suggest that low executive pay may be contributing to Britain's struggling economy. However, evidence is patchy linking higher pay for CEOs with better company performance, and institutional investors in British stocks are reluctant to fatten compensation packages more. Shareholder revolts over remuneration plans are becoming more common, and any signs of excess by company bosses will grow harder to justify politically.
The British "moral panic" over schoolchildren vaping is disproportionate compared to other areas of concern. As the issue of e-cigarettes takes the spotlight, more concerning issues such as illicit drugs and alcohol abuse fly under the radar. Meanwhile, Britain's self-inflicted inflation pain continues to worsen as bringing down high prices is expected to hurt a lot. The country's defence secretary, Ben Wallace, has stepped out of the race for NATO's top job, potentially leading to a sidelining of the UK's political influence in Ukraine.

The Economist: Business | Jun 24th 2023 Edition
UK inflation remains high at 8.7% in May, with core inflation at 7.1%; the Bank of England raises key interest rates to 5.0%. Housing prices and rents also surge, while China's central bank cuts benchmark lending rates and extends tax breaks for electric vehicles to boost the economy. Carlos Ghosn sues Nissan for $1bn in damages over his arrest and removal as CEO in 2018. The International Energy Agency says investments in clean energy in developing countries must triple to meet carbon emissions goals, with China responsible for two-thirds of current spending. Denmark retains top spot, while Britain falls to 29th, in the annual World Competitiveness ranking from the IMD. The Italian government blocks a Chinese company from appointing a CEO at Pirelli, and IndiGo makes the largest-ever commercial aviation deal with Airbus for 500 A320s. The US FTC sues Amazon, and Intel doubles its investment in chipmaking factories in Germany, the largest-ever foreign investment in the country. Son Masayoshi speaks publicly for the first time in 7 months, saying a "huge revolution is coming" in AI, and SoftBank will "rule the world" in its development.

Daily Wire: Ruins Of Lost Mayan City Discovered Deep In Mexican Jungle
Archeologists have discovered the ruins of an ancient Mayan city dating between 250 to 1,000 AD in the Yucatan Peninsula in southern Mexico. The settlement, named Ocomtún, was discovered in a largely unexplored area and includes large buildings and multiple 50-foot pyramids. The site likely collapsed between 800 and 1,000 A.D., which aligns with the Mayan civilizational collapse, and reflects ideological and population changes in times of crises.

The Epoch Times: Care Home Visiting Rights Should Be Legally Protected: UK Government
The UK government is seeking views on legislation that would give care home and hospital patients the legal right to have visitors. The move follows emergency Covid-19 measures restricting visits, which have been branded “detrimental” and “distressing”. Secondary legislation would amend regulations to specify visiting requirements, helping regulators identify breaches and enable enforcement measures to be taken. At least one hour of visiting per day for hospital patients and “risk-managed” visiting for care home visitors have been recommended. The proposal has been welcomed by the Rights for Residents campaign but campaigners want visiting to be enshrined in law.

Daily Wire: Retired Or Not? Sen. Rand Paul Demands Dr. Fauci’s Employment Status From Biden Administration
Senator Rand Paul is demanding answers on whether Dr. Anthony Fauci is still employed by the federal government, as he vowed to retire in December 2022. Paul is asking the Department of Health and Human Services, the department’s inspector general and the current head of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), a series of questions about Fauci's employment status and whether he is still receiving taxpayer-funded benefits, such as legal counsel and protective services. This comes after Paul speculated earlier this year that Fauci feared indictment by Republicans after they took over the House and opened a probe into his tenure. He said Fauci could be using his employment with the federal government as a legal shield.

The Epoch Times: Several US Agencies Set Up New Crypto Task Force in Arizona to Combat Illegal Online Activity
Arizona federal agencies have established the “Darknet Marketplace and Digital Currency Crimes Task Force” aimed at combating crimes involving cryptocurrencies, including drugs, firearms, and personal information theft. The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement signed an agreement with the IRS, US Drug Enforcement Administration, US Postal Inspection Service, and the US Attorney to disrupt and dismantle criminal organisations, which facilitate criminal activities using the appearance of anonymity on the darknet. PJ Media: The Titanic Tourists Have Run Out of Oxygen
Rescuers attempt to recover the Titan Five submersible vessel and its five missing passengers who went to view the Titanic wreckage but disappeared on Sunday. They detected underwater sounds for a second consecutive day, though many obstacles remain, including pinpointing the Titan's location, reaching it with rescue equipment, and bringing it to the surface before the passengers' oxygen supply runs out. The lost submersible could be as deep as 12,500 feet (3,800 meters) below the surface near the watery grave of the Titanic.
The Titan Five has now depleted its oxygen supply, and the craft was only designed to last a maximum of 96 hours, with no hope of saving the passengers. There were multiple theories as to what caused the craft to lose communication, from implosion to power failure. Former employees warned about safety flaws, and a Zoom video revealed that the CEO intentionally prioritized diversity over experience when hiring, believing "50-year-old white guys" wouldn't inspire the next generation.

As sporadic hail continued to fall, organizers of the Louis Tomlinson concert postponed the event to a later date due to yet another weather delay approaching the venue. The hailstorm struck Colorado at around the same time as multiple tornadoes were reported in several states.

Experts gave a 96-hour timeline as the likely point when the vessel would run out of oxygen, but some believe that the passengers may survive longer depending on conditions. A rescue mission led by the US Coast Guard with the help of several other organisations is still underway, but the search area is vast and deep.
