The Epoch Times: DeSantis Uses Town Hall Format to Connect With South Carolina Voters
GOP presidential candidate Ron DeSantis spoke to a crowd of about 400 people for nearly two hours in a South Carolina campaign stop. DeSantis covered a variety of topics, including his battle against lockdown policies during the pandemic, his war on wokeness and the decline of the military, and the Biden administration’s weakness on issues such as the southern border and the challenge of China, the economy, and protecting individual rights. DeSantis also commented on his recent visit to San Francisco, where he saw a “civilization in decline” resulting from leftist politicians imposing leftist ideology. DeSantis pledged support for law enforcement and criticized efforts to defund the police, stating that with a Republican legislature and him sitting as governor, defunding decisions wouldn’t happen at the state level in Florida. He spoke about his state’s initiatives to improve civics education and its law allowing medical marijuana, cautioning that it is bad for young people and hurts workforce readiness. DeSantis also discussed changes at New College in Sarasota, which he rebranded after instituting conservative trustees and eliminating immersion in critical race theory and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The Epoch Times: Democrats, Republicans Weigh In on Durham’s Findings After Congressional Hearing
Special counsel John Durham's report on the FBI's 2016 investigation into then-candidate Donald Trump's campaign has led to differing opinions amongst lawmakers. The report found that the initial investigation was rushed and that FBI personnel were sometimes careless with their accuracy. Republican lawmakers used the report as evidence of the FBI and DOJ's bias against Trump, whilst Democrats pointed out the lack of successful prosecutions as evidence of the report's supposed lack of credibility. Durham secured a guilty plea from FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith, for falsifying information in order to extend a surveillance warrant against Carter Page, but was less successful in prosecuting Michael Sussman and Igor Danchenko, both of whom were acquitted.
Fox News: SEAN HANNITY: IRS whistleblowers emerge with explosive allegations about Hunter Biden probe

The whistleblowers claim $8.3 million of Hunter's income from foreign entities in Ukraine, Romania, and China was mysteriously excluded from his tax returns, and that his father was aware of the situation. Hannity accuses the DOJ of protecting the Bidens and highlights the whistleblower's bombshell revelations as evidence of corruption.
The Epoch Times: Oregon Lawmakers Pass Self-Service Gasoline Bill After Decades-Long Ban
Oregon lawmakers have approved a bill allowing residents and visitors to pump their own gas, ending a decades-long ban since 1951. House Bill 2426 will require gas stations to staff at least half of their open pumps for customers requiring assistance, while stations in heavily populated counties would need at least one attendant present to help customers who prefer not to use self-service. The change will not affect gas prices and Governor Tina Kotek is expected to sign the bill into law. Concerns have been raised about job losses at local gas stations.
Oregon lawmakers passed Senate Bill 337 earlier this week, which will provide over $90 million to overhaul the public defense system in the state. The new measure would rename and move the public defense commission to the executive branch, alter the current pay structure, and set a required percentage of attorneys to be state employees by 2031. Senate Majority Leader Kate Liber celebrated the bill's passage, stating that "Senate Democrats promised to address the public defense crisis this session and protect fair access to justice." If signed into law by Governor Kotek, the bill will take effect immediately.

PJ Media: Our Titanic
The first type of problem is solvable with basic law enforcement, but solving the second requires advanced engineering that may not even exist. Complexity is a crucial factor in difficulty; a small increase in complexity may lead to a big rise in difficulty. Overconfidence in simpler engineering challenges lulls us into a competence crisis, leaving complex systems increasingly vulnerable to disaster. America's complex systems are slowly collapsing due to escalating rates of failure, worsened by the systematic promotion of the unqualified. Politicians and corporations risk fantastic projects because they poll well and signal virtue, underestimating their complexities and risks. Dealing with complexity requires learning from failure, but can our leaders do that, or will they just double down? We're passengers riding on our own unsinkable civilization at full speed into the unknown future.
