Fox News: Oregon Democrats plan to start fining GOP senators as boycott hits 1-month mark
Oregon’s longest Republican walkout, aimed at blocking hundreds of Democratic-led bills, including legislation on abortion, gender-affirming care and gun control, has now entered its fifth week. The Democratic Party in Oregon voted to begin fining the Republican senators $325, the daily rate of an average lawmaker, for every absence that deprives the chamber of a quorum. On Thursday, a procedural vote granted the Democrats the ability to compel absent members to attend and be fined. The state constitution allows a smaller number of members to meet and force attendance at the Senate, even if two-thirds are not present.

The Blaze: Gov. Kay Ivey offers to 'fix' ESPN coverage of Alabama's new law keeping men out of women's sports
Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey ratified a bill banning public colleges from allowing men to participate in women’s sports and vice versa. Ivey said “If you’re a biological male, you’re not going to be competing in women’s and girls’ sports in Alabama. It’s about fairness, plain and simple". In an article by ESPN where they referred to those banned from competing in women’s sports as "transgender women" Governor Ivey tweeted a correction: "Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signed legislation on Tuesday that will ban biological MEN from playing on FEMALE sports teams in college." Alabama’s new law highlights physical advantages that men hold over women in sports. ESPN recently hoisted the LGBT flag above its headquarters in Connecticut, a flag that now includes colors representing the gender-dysphoric community.

The session saw nearly $575 million approved to build an unfinished canal and reservoir system, and nearly $400 million to build a new prison.

The Epoch Times: China Regime ‘Emboldened Enough to Commit Crimes’ in the US, House Chairman Says
Two Chinese agents, suspected to be part of CCP's effort to undermine American sovereignty and suppress dissent, attempted to bribe an undercover FBI agent to revoke a non-profit status held by Falun Gong practitioners in the US. This case is believed to be just the tip of the iceberg in terms of China's influence operations in the US. Republicans on the House Select Committee on China called for more action to protect groups targeted by the CCP and halt its espionage and transnational repression operations on American soil.
The DOJ's bribery case also sheds light on the persecution campaign against Falun Gong practitioners, with at least 172 practitioners dying as a result of the CCP's crackdown in 2022. Forced organ harvesting, which has been called a part of China's genocide, is practised on Falun Gong followers and Uyghur Muslims, leading to their disappearance. US lawmakers, such as Rep. Ashley Hinson, voted in favour of the Stop Forced Organ Harvesting Act of 2023, which would penalize governmental and medical personnel found to be involved in the act and require annual government reporting on such activities.

Boating Mag: Installing a Transom Swim Platform
Boaters falling overboard could risk drowning if their craft does not have a ladder to climb back in. Boats built since 2014 must meet American Boat and Yacht Council Standard H-41, providing means of unassisted re-boarding deployable by a person in the water. Older boats may not meet this requirement, but non-mandatory Garelick 19536 ladder retraces to stow under an 18-inch-wide-by-15-inch-long polyethylene platform and secures with a snap on a web strap. It is mounted onto a boat with pre-drilled holes compatible with stainless steel fasteners, with a transom drill bit, screwdriver and strap wrench for assembly.
