House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan demands details from Attorney General Merrick Garland about the FBI's involvement in a special counsel probe in November 2020. Jordan is skeptical of possible FBI intervention in the upcoming presidential contest after a report from Special Counsel John Durham criticized the agency's effort to undermine voters in the 2016 presidential election. FBI Director Christopher Wray is facing threats of contempt charges for refusing to hand over an unclassified document that allegedly contains evidence of an illegal scheme involving President Joe Biden and a "foreign national."

Forbes: Macy’s First Quarter Sales And Earnings Has Boosters
Macy's Q1 net sales down 7% to $5bn due to lack of Spring fashion sales. Diluted EPS at $0.56 vs $0.98 YoY. Macy's management has promised cost savings of $200m for this fiscal year and $300m for fiscal 2024. National Review: How Much of Adam Smith’s Hand Is Still Visible?
Adam Smith, the father of economics, turns 300 and his free-market model has achieved "universal opulence" predicted by him. He aimed to help government leaders find the best way to generate rapid increase in a country’s wealth and concluded that mercantilism was a failure. His solution was to channel self-interest through a legal system and competition. Smith's challenge was how could market anarchy lead to social order? His solution was the system of natural liberty to deliver goods and services.
Since the collapse of the Soviet Union in the early 1990s, most countries have rejected the socialist model of nationalization. Economic freedom has stagnated and it started to decline after the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. Smith's model has come under attack by interventionists who want a return to top-down policies of authoritarian government, deficit spending, tax hikes, “fair” trade, and overregulation all in the name of fairness, equity, and saving the planet. If Smith were alive today, he would be appalled by the never-ending federal deficits and out-of-control national debt.

Red State: For Those Whose Every Day is Memorial Day
: A letter from a soldier in Vietnam highlights the horrors he and his fellow soldiers experienced during an attack, emphasizing the true meaning of Memorial Day for those who fought alongside those who died. The Cephas Hour episode discusses Christ’s ministry to those who struggle to cope with loss and the importance of ministering to oneself. The gospel according to Debbie Downer, the book of James, harshly but truthfully calls out the sin of proclaiming the gospel for personal gain. Faith without genuine works, humility, and servitude to Christ and others is meaningless. Money may bring peace of mind, but it will never bring peace of heart nor add to one’s value in Christ.

Liberty Nation: Bias Incident Reporting Spreads to California High Schools
A California school district has implemented a Bias Team which malicious individuals could abuse to report "acts of racism, bias, sexism, microaggressions, etc." on an anonymous reporting system that could be accessed by anyone on their website. The district will receive monthly reports and corrective actions can be determined including disciplinary or restorative actions. However, critics argue that such a reporting system violates First Amendment rights of students who may choose to remain quiet out of fear of repercussions. It has prompted advocacy groups to protect students' speech rights on campus. The severity of the situation is worsened by the anonymity of the reporting system.
American Thinker: School district presses phys-ed teachers to don LGBTQ pride apparel
Jeffco Public Schools in Colorado urged its P.E. teachers to don LGBT gear, including pins, t-shirts and stickers and to use preferred pronouns to "show unwavering support for the LGBTQ community" and make the programs "more inclusive." The teachers were trained on how to make their teaching more inclusive so that regardless of "race, ethnicity or sexual orientation" students feel welcome. An instructional presentation stated, "a pin, t-shirt, flags, stickers and use of pronouns are impactful ways of making a difference." The school could make their employees wear other types of gear to be more inclusive of all ideologies.
National Review: Virginia Joins the Movement against Credentialism
Several US state governments, including Pennsylvania, Colorado, and Alaska, have abolished degree requirements for many state-government jobs, with Virginia set to follow from July 1st. The move, supported by some private employers, aims to target the workforce demographic left out by college qualifications. Youngkin, governor of Virginia and a Republican, supports the decision, highlighting that 62% of American adults do not have a college degree, offering criticism of the industry using college qualifications as a means of employment criteria. The decision will allow employers to make hiring decisions based on individual suitability rather than their level of education. .

The US Supreme Court has ruled that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) may not control wetlands on the property of an Idaho couple. This marks the third time since 2001 that the Court has ruled to prevent the regulatory overreach of the EPA and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers under the Clean Water Act. The ruling sets a clearer standard of what wetlands can be regulated. The decision is seen as a victory for property rights, federalism, and the rule of law.

The Federalist: We Should Stop Believing Elon Musk Is Committed To Free Speech At Twitter - The Federalist
Elon Musk's recent purchase of Twitter was celebrated by many on the right as a victory for free speech. However, censorship of conservative multimedia outlets on the site continues, prompting questions about who really runs Twitter. Musk's recent selection of former NBCUniversal chair Linda Yaccarino as CEO suggests that the social networking platform's much-publicized advertiser drought may be influencing his decisions. Yaccarino's enthusiastic endorsement of woke causes, including the Covid pandemic response and ESG movement, makes her collaboration with the Biden administration on its coronavirus vaccination campaign worrisome for those concerned about free speech and individual liberties.
