Charles Foehner, a 65-year-old man, shot and killed a mugger, Cody Gonzalez, in Kew Gardens, Queens in self-defense. Gonzalez had confronted Foehner outside a parking garage on 82nd Avenue near Queens Boulevard in a robbery attempt, cutting off Foehner, who was smoking a cigarette while on his way home. Foehner took out his revolver, pointing it at Gonzalez, who continued to approach Foehner and clenching something in his right hand. Foehner then fired multiple times, killing Gonzalez. Foehner was taken into custody by the authorities and is expected to be charged with criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon.
