The Epoch Times: Religious Schools Oppose Victorian Government's Plan to Impose Payroll Tax
Religious and independent schools in Victoria are opposing a new payroll tax policy requiring them to pay payroll tax from July 1, 2024. Currently, only government-managed schools are required to pay payroll tax while religious and independent schools are exempted. However, under the new policy, non-government schools with annual tuition fees of above AUD 8,000 ($5,280) will also be liable to pay payroll tax.
The Catholic Education Commission argues that the Victorian government’s proposed measure would cause student fees to increase and burden families further amid rising costs of living. The executive director of the CEC said private schools shouldn't be punished, and called on Labor MPs to scrap the proposal or significantly raise the tuition fee threshold for payroll tax. Some private schools expressed concern that they may have to draw from their reserves or force parents to pay more. However, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews emphasised that most private schools won't lose their exemption as the government will lift the fee threshold for them, adding that the education minister will consult with the sector on the new threshold.
Front Page Magazine: Palestinian Campaign to Free Sadistic Murderer Walid Daqqa
The Palestinians want Israel to release murderer Walid Daqqa who has cancer and who they claim is receiving poor medical care. However, he is receiving excellent medical care in an Israeli hospital and the Palestinians' campaign to release him is misguided. Daqqa is a sadistic murderer who gouged out Moshe Tamam's eyes and mutilated other parts of his body while he was still alive. He is not a political prisoner nor an intellectual, but a cruel individual who deserves to be imprisoned. The Palestinians should abandon their campaign to release him.
Walid Daqqa, a cruel Palestinian murderer who gouged out the eyes of Moshe Tamam and mutilated other parts of his body while he was still alive, is receiving excellent medical care in an Israeli hospital after being diagnosed with cancer. Nonetheless, the Palestinians are campaigning for his release, claiming he is receiving poor medical care, which is entirely false. Daqqa is not a political prisoner, intellectual, or writer, but a sadistic individual who deserves to be imprisoned. The Palestinians should abandon this misguided campaign to release him.

The Epoch Times: US, South Korea Issue Cybersecurity Advisory Following North Korean Satellite Launch
The US and South Korea issued a joint cybersecurity advisory against Kimsuky, a North Korean hacking group accused of stealing information for North Korea's satellite development. The advisory states that Kimsuky has operated under the Reconnaissance General Bureau, North Korea's military intelligence agency since 2012. South Korea also imposed sanctions against Kimsuky, alleging that it has been collecting information from individuals and institutions in diplomacy, security and national defense and giving it to the North Korean regime.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's sister, Kim Yo Jong, has vowed that North Korea will intensify efforts to develop spy capabilities. Kim's remarks followed North Korea's failed attempt to launch a spy satellite into space. The US urged all countries to condemn the launch and to call on North Korea to engage in "serious negotiations," saying it was a brazen violation of multiple U.N. Security Council resolutions. Japan and South Korea issued emergency alerts in certain areas after detecting North Korea's satellite launch.
