PJ Media: West Coast, Messed Coast™—Devil's Workshop Edition
California Democrats have passed a measure to ban red dye and four other chemicals used in shelf-stable food, including Skittles. The ban would force candy manufacturers to change how they produce their products. Meanwhile, the California Senate is set to ban oil and gas funds held by the state employees and teachers union pensions, putting $15 billion at risk. The head of investing for Calpers has warned that this move will do nothing to combat climate change, and its only immediate impact will be to make it harder to achieve investment returns needed to pay benefits to Calpers members.
Red State: The Media's Obsession With Turning the Trump Team's Comments Into News Stories Is Terrible Journalism
Former President Trump and his team have been spreading false stories about GOP candidate Ron DeSantis. Most recently, they have criticized DeSantis for the pronunciation of his name. Additionally, Trump's team has been claiming that DeSantis is avoiding questions from voters, which led to a confrontational encounter with an AP reporter that was lauded by many on social media. Now, a POLITICO story has allegedly been authorized and published that uses a throwaway insult by Steve Bannon calling DeSantis autistic as the basis for a featured story.

Breitbart: Brazilian Influencers on China’s TikTok Get Famous for Racist ‘Banana’ Videos Against Children
Mother-and-daughter TikTok influencers, Kerollen Cunha and Nancy Golcalves, are being investigated by Brazilian police for posting a video offering black children gifts such as stuffed monkeys and bananas. The video, which has since been deleted, received almost 700 complaints. Kerollen and Nancy have over 13 million followers on TikTok, and the platform has been criticised for pushing toxic content to children, along with concerns over user privacy and possible links with Chinese intelligence agencies. Forbes: The Use Of Starvation As A Weapon Of War By Russian Forces
The Starvation Mobile Justice Team found evidence of Russian soldiers using starvation tactics in Ukraine that were "designed to break Ukrainian people." These tactics include attacking critical water infrastructure, hospitals, supermarkets, and bakeries, resulting in the deaths of approximately 20 civilians and injuring 26-50 others. Such methods of warfare are prohibited under international humanitarian law, but have been used in many modern conflicts, including in Syria, South Sudan, and Yemen.
The findings of the Starvation Mobile Justice Team add to the growing evidence against Russian forces in Ukraine, including the siege of Mariupol, obstruction of humanitarian access, and targeting critical civilian infrastructure. The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for the war crime of unlawful deportation and transfer of occupied populations, but it is not yet clear whether the crime of starvation will be pursued. As more evidence of atrocities is collected, further steps towards justice and accountability may be taken.

Fox News: Navy takes down LGBTQ+ Pride post on Instagram and Twitter, removes rainbow banner
The U.S. Navy removed Instagram and Twitter posts celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride month without explanation. Some suggested the posts were taken down in response to backlash over military support for Pride. Two Navy officials expressed disgust with negative public response to its social media posts for LGBTQ+ Pride Month last year, according to emails obtained in a Freedom of Information Act request from the Functional Government Initiative. Conservative lawmakers have recently ramped up pressure on the military to end diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, including taxpayer-funded promotion for Pride month. Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, sent a letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin Thursday demanding that the Defense Department turn over documents and information on every Pride Month celebration sponsored or supported by the military this June.
The Blaze: British air force has to pay up after leak revealed recruiters were told to purge 'useless white male pilots' to fast-track minorities
The British Royal Air Force compensated 31 white male pilots whose training was delayed due to recruiters selecting candidates based on race and gender. A leaked email from the Officer and Aircrew Selection Center expressed concern about predominantly white and male selection boards. A quota system aimed to ensure 20% of all RAF recruits were non-white and 40% were female by 2030. The scheme limited the number of white male trainees admitted to courses. The RAF's head of recruitment resigned in protest at the orders to pause the selection of white male recruits, deeming it unlawful. The RAF notes it will continue to increase recruitment from under-represented groups within the provisions of the law.
