The search for four indigenous children aged between 13 months and nine years, who survived a small plane crash in southern Colombia on May 1st, has been renewed with the discovery of small footprints in a jungle-covered area about 3.2 kilometres from the crash site. The footprints are believed to belong to the eldest child, a 13-year-old girl, although heavy rain and the group changing course have hindered search efforts by the 170-strong team, including over 100 members of Colombia's special forces. The searchers have covered an area of jungle equivalent to the size of Paris and Lisbon combined, and the search has involved jaguars, poisonous snakes and mosquitos, as well as the jungle's terrain. The searchers believe that the children, who were travelling with four indigenous adults and three other children who died in the crash including the pilot, are most likely alive and in positive condition.
