Fox News: Republicans condemn New York for sheltering illegal aliens in public schools
Republicans condemn New York for sheltering illegal aliens in public schools
Republican lawmakers sponsored a resolution condemning the use of New York elementary and secondary school facilities to house illegal immigrants. The resolution argues that such use puts school children at risk and diverts educational resources from students who are already suffering from learning losses. New York City has been struggling to cope with a surge of illegal immigration since President Biden took office, and the city's shelters are reportedly full. Parents have voiced concern about the safety risks of housing illegal immigrants in school campuses rather than educating children.

PJ Media: Twitter's Middle Management Problem Exposed by Treatment of Daily Wire's Documentary
Twitter's Middle Management Problem Exposed by Treatment of Daily Wire's Documentary
The Daily Wire's documentary, "What Is a Woman?" was censored by Twitter with a harmful content tag, preventing users from sharing or commenting on the post. Elon Musk responded to the issue, promising that it would be fixed on Friday, calling it "sensitive content," which received pushback from users. The events reveal Twitter's left-leaning hallways and raise concerns about Musk's vision of Twitter as the "everything app."

‘Worse Than Outright Suppression’: Jordan Peterson Reacts To Twitter Controversy Over ‘What Is A Woman?’
Twitter canceled a deal with a conservative media company to stream the documentary "What is a Woman?" citing "hateful conduct." Dr. Jordan B. Peterson and other conservative hosts discussed the controversy during a Twitter Space, questioning why the film was labeled as "sensitive content." Elon Musk later tweeted that commenting and deliberate sharing of the documentary would be allowed, leading Peterson to wonder whether Musk had conspired with Twitter to censor the film just to raise its profile. The tag was removed, allowing retweets and likes, and Musk tweeted out the film to his 140 million followers.

The Deplatforming of the ‘Disinformation Dozen’: More Coverage From Tracy Beanz
Lawyers in Missouri v. Biden seek injunction against government's censorship industrial complex, citing collusion between government and social media companies to censor speech on a range of topics, from COVID to climate change, gendered disinformation, and abortion. The Office of the Surgeon General was implicated in coordinating censorship efforts with the White House, pressuring social media platforms to comply with demands under threat of legal and regulatory measures. The case raises questions about the extent of state action involved in censorship activities and the government's role in controlling the flow of information online.

Judge Recuses Himself From Disney, DeSantis Case After Discovering Relative Owns Company Stocks
Federal judge recuses himself from Disney's First Amendment lawsuit against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis due to a relative owning 30 shares in the Walt Disney Company, and is to be reassigned to another Trump-appointed judge. Governor DeSantis had previously requested that Judge Walker be disqualified, alleging comments made by the judge regarding Disney were grounds for him not to be impartial in the case, prompting Walker to recuse himself. The legal battle began after former Disney CEO Bob Chapek criticized HB 1557, which bans instruction of gender identity and sexual orientation in public schools from kindergarten to third grade, leading to DeSantis' attempts to strip Disney of its self-governing power status.

FBI Director Christopher Wray has agreed to allow House Oversight Committee members to view an unclassified document linking President Joe Biden to a $5 million bribery scheme. The FD-1023 document is a record of an interview the FBI conducted with an informant allegedly detailing an arrangement between Biden and a foreign national. After weeks of stonewalling, the FBI will bring the document to Capitol Hill, but Chair James Comer (R-KY) still plans to move forward with the contempt process.

The Epoch Times: Japan Police Say Flaws in Basic Security Allowed Attacker to Throw Pipe Bomb at Prime Minister
Japan Police Say Flaws in Basic Security Allowed Attacker to Throw Pipe Bomb at Prime Minister
Japan's National Police Agency has released a report revealing that flaws in basic security allowed an attacker to enter a campaign crowd unnoticed and throw a pipe bomb at Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in April. The bomb was thrown in the western prefecture of Wakayama, and fortunately it fell near Kishida and he was pushed away by special police before it exploded and he was unhurt. The report urges organizers of campaign rallies to employ metal detectors and baggage checks, and hold speeches by political leaders and other dignitaries indoors. It said experienced police officers should also be deployed to more effectively detect suspicious actions.

The bomb attack occurred less than a year after the assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at a campaign speech, which prompted the dismissal of top national and local police officials over lax security. Some attendees at the campaign rally reported that they were surprised by the loose security arrangements. In response, the National Police Agency also compiled plans to improve protection of dignitaries and urged organizers of campaign rallies to take security measures more seriously. However, the suspect involved in the attack, Ryuji Kimura, remains in police custody and is undergoing a court-approved mental evaluation until Sept. 1.

The Epoch Times: Republicans Win Welfare Work Requirements in Debt Ceiling Battle
Republicans Win Welfare Work Requirements in Debt Ceiling Battle
President Biden and the Republican-led House came to an agreement on changes to work requirements in social welfare programs, securing increased work requirements in SNAP and TANF. The agreement preserves Medicaid as a social benefit that does not require a recipient to work. The changes are set to be implemented by 2024 and will reduce the allowable exemptions a state can use to qualify people for SNAP benefits with an end date of Oct. 1, 2030. Biden has historically supported welfare work requirements, and these changes reflect that stance.

Boris Johnson Willing to Hand Over 'Unredacted' WhatsApp Messages to COVID Inquiry
Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has agreed to hand over his unredacted WhatsApp messages to the COVID-19 inquiry, including material on a phone he stopped using. This comes after the government said it would seek a judicial review of Baroness Hallett’s demand that all messages from Johnson and his officials be handed over. Johnson’s messages are likely to include key conversations about the three coronavirus lockdowns ordered in 2020. Johnson told Hallett he had asked the Cabinet Office for assistance in securely accessing his old phone so that he could pass all relevant material directly to the inquiry.

The Corner: Don’t You Dare Call It a Smear
Politico has reported on whispers that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis may be on the autism spectrum. The allegations come most vocally from allies of Donald Trump. Politico acknowledges concerns that couching the Governor's potential diagnosis in terms of an insult could hurt the wider autism community, yet also notes that DeSantis cannot issue a blanket denial without implying that an autism spectrum diagnosis is inherently negative. This ambivalence demonstrates the contradictions engendered by free-floating rumor in today’s political landscape.

American Thinker: Chesa Boudin and Lori Lightfoot failing upward at 2 of the nation’s most prestigious universities
Chesa Boudin and Lori Lightfoot failing upward at 2 of the nation’s most prestigious universities
Two rejected politicians have been given faculty appointments at prestigious universities, with the University of California, Berkeley appointing Chesa Boudin as the founding executive director of its Criminal Law & Justice Center and Harvard appointing Lori Lightfoot as a Richard L. and Ronay A. Menschel Senior Leadership Fellow. Both politicians were rejected by their constituents due to their disastrous leadership, but now receive payment from taxpayer-funded institutions to advocate for policies the voters had already rejected. This stripping of academia's prestige to push a highly unpopular political agenda has not gone unnoticed, with employers losing their reference for college graduates and Virginia eliminating degree requirements for nearly 90% of classified jobs.

Breitbart: Australians Say Cap Migration to Curb Housing Prices
Australians Say Cap Migration to Curb Housing Prices
Most Australians support capping immigration until affordable housing is increased, according to a May 30 poll. The Guardian survey revealed 53% of left-wing voters also backed the move, along with 70% of the center-right party. The deal would result in an influx of Indian college graduates, who would accept low pay and cramped accommodation to stay permanently in Australia. The move would likely result in displacement of young and old Australians from decent housing in coastal cities. With housing already expensive and the rise of property investors, the issue of immigration is a critical topic in Australia.

'The View' alienates a fan: Longtime watcher pans show as Biden fan service in blistering NY Times essay
ABC's "The View" is under fire for being a "chorus of conformity," whose co-hosts agree with each other too much. Left-leaning show's fan Megan Stack criticized the show for promoting only talking points that all co-hosts agree upon, like their support for President Joe Biden. Stack also argued that "The View" has now become too conformist to represent America's divisions. In contrast with the show's title, Stack claimed that the show no longer evokes a spectrum of American opinions in its discussions, but instead, "a brightly lit illusion of accord."

Search for missing children after jungle plane crash intensifies thanks to new evidence
Colombian authorities believe they have discovered footprints which could finally lead them to four indigenous children who went missing when their plane crashed a month ago. The hope is that the footprints of a small foot belong to the oldest child, a 13-year-old girl. Searchers are struggling as they work through the jungle in the Colombia Amazon, which contains jaguars, poisonous snakes and disease-carrying mosquitos. ( )

The children were onboard a aircraft which crashed during a flight from the southern town of Araracuara to the northern part of the country on 1 May. The hope is that the indigenous children, who are of the Huitoto indigenous people, are trying to find a way out of the jungle. Previously, reports indicated that the children may have found their way to an indigenous tribe, however nothing has been confirmed. ( )

Blinken 'Welcomes' China to Mediate in Ukraine-Russia War
US Secretary of State Blinken welcomes mediation efforts by China, Brazil, or any nation to end the war in Ukraine. Blinken emphasized the importance of building consensus around the four elements of a just and lasting peace, which include upholding the UN Charter, affirming sovereignty and territorial integrity, Ukraine's full participation, and accountability and reconciliation. The Biden administration did not dismiss China's plan for peace in Ukraine, which has been downplayed but not entirely ruled out. Some speculate that Biden may be maintaining a bellicose stance while allowing China to mediate, potentially giving China a greater foothold in Europe.

Mistrial declared for 2 Maryland doctors charged with conspiring to provide Russia with medical records
A mistrial was declared in the federal trial of two Maryland doctors accused of conspiring to assist Russia in its war with Ukraine by disclosing health information of several patients. The two doctors were accused of passing private patient records to an undercover agent posing as a Russian official. The jury deadlocked and prosecutors have the option of retrying the doctors. The charges carry maximum penalties of decades in prison.

Defense lawyers argued the doctors only wanted to help save lives during the war and that the undercover agent coerced them to break the law. The FBI launched an investigation into Gabrielian after she emailed the Russian embassy identifying her and her spouse as doctors who are ready to help if there is a need. Prosecutors have the option to retry the doctors.

The Epoch Times: Retirement Surge Leaves Aviation, Other Industries Desperate to Hire
Retirement Surge Leaves Aviation, Other Industries Desperate to Hire
Industries across America, including aviation, construction, manufacturing, nursing, and accounting, are facing a worker-shortage crisis due to a surge of retirements that began during the pandemic. Millions of workers have left the workforce since the start of the pandemic, and the national labor force participation rate is 0.7 percentage points below pre-pandemic levels. The surge of retirements and women dropping out of the labor force, along with a slowdown in immigration that began during the pandemic, are the main factors behind the labor shortages .

In the airline industry, more than one-third of mechanics are between 55 and 64, and fewer than one in 10 are under 30. As demand for travel is growing, recruiters for airlines, plane manufacturers, and repair shops are desperately seeking mechanics, but factors such as a shortage of workers and the aging workforce are making it difficult. The imbalance between supply and demand is likely to result in fewer flights and delays and cancellations, or airlines having to compensate by keeping more spare aircraft and parts on hand. This leads to higher operating costs for airlines as carriers push up wages to retain and attract mechanics .

This is the 14th consecutive month that the jobs report has come in above forecast, making it one of the longest losing streaks for economists. Unemployment did rise to 3.7%, however, above the predicted 3.5%.

Biden's Green Rules Mean Appliances Will Soon Cost More and Do Less, Experts Say
The Biden administration's promise to impose tighter environmental standards on consumer goods is becoming a reality, with many regulations set to be finalized by next year. Consumer groups predict that Americans will pay more for products that do less, while manufacturers warn of shortages and supply chain breakdowns. The new regulations come on top of new Environmental Protection Agency emissions regulations on cars and electric utilities and efforts to ban gas stoves. Critics say that these will result in similar consequences in those industries. The costs of the "110 actions" will likely fall most heavily on lower-income Americans who are less able to afford more expensive things.

The Epoch Times: Fed Plans: Tomorrow and Beyond
Fed Plans: Tomorrow and Beyond
Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell recently addressed potential future decisions of the Fed. Powell denies policymakers giving into the pressure to hold rates steady to relieve pressures on banks while acknowledging that fears in the banking community might lead to managers reducing risk levels, slowing the flow of credit into the economy. The most encouraging aspect of his remarks was a reaffirmation of the Fed's 2 percent inflation target. However, low "neutral" interest rates suggest low underlying economic returns, reflecting an economy with little growth potential.

Mark Milley ordered the Nellis Air Force Base to cancel or relocate a June 1 drag show previously approved by Air Force leadership, citing the fact that it's not Pentagon policy to fund such events on bases. They directed commanders to cancel or relocate any such events. Gaetz had previously raised concerns about drag events at military bases during a March hearing.
