Former President Donald Trump appeared in court in Miami for an arraignment regarding federal charges, including violations of the Espionage Act. In a newsmaking interview with Bret Baier, Trump was confronted with his election lies and his mishandling of government documents. Newsbusters: ABC, CBS Ignore John Durham Testimony, Hype ProPublica's Alito Smears
Former special counsel John Durham testified in a congressional hearing that evidence he uncovered during his probe into the origins of the Trump/Russia collusion hoax did not warrant the FBI opening up its investigation called “Crossfire Hurricane.” However, ABC’s World News Tonight and CBS Evening News did not cover the hearing and instead hyped a report from the left-wing outlet ProPublica that claimed Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito didn’t disclose a trip he took with a friend who happened to also be a donor to conservative causes. NBC was the only one of the “big three” to cover the hearing.
During his testimony, John Durham argued that “the available evidence did not support opening the full investigation known as Crossfire Hurricane.” He also found anti-Trump sentiment among the FBI brass who launched the investigation. However, Democrats accused the Bill Barr appointee of running political interference for former President Trump and claimed that his report reads like a defense of the Trump campaign and an attack on Hillary Clinton. Overall, the hearing lasted five hours and Durham's investigation produced only three criminal cases including two acquittals.
The Epoch Times: Chaos Erupts on House Floor as Democrats Protest Republican Censure of Adam Schiff
House Democrats protested the Republican majority's vote to censure Representative Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) for perpetuating the debunked notion of Russia collusion during the 2016 election. The resolution, which was passed by a tally of 213-209, failed to impose a $16 million fine on Schiff as an earlier resolution did. After the vote was taken, a group of House Democrats gathered around Schiff to show their solidarity. As McCarthy read the final vote count, Democrats began to chant "Shame, shame, shame" and continued to interrupt, causing McCarthy to repeatedly call for order in the chamber.
Forbes: McCarthy Dismisses Boebert’s ‘Premature’ Biden Impeachment Effort
Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy denounced Rep. Lauren Boebert's effort to impeach President Joe Biden on Wednesday, calling for Republicans to vote alongside Democrats to table the resolution. Boebert had introduced a privileged motion that would force a vote on her earlier proposed resolution to impeach Biden, citing his perceived loss of control over the southern border. McCarthy criticized Boebert's move as lacking evidence and undermining Republican efforts to hold people accountable in the future. Republicans remain divided on the issue, with some planning to vote for the resolution anyway, including Reps. Tim Burchett and Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Fox News: Adam Schiff censured: 6 Republican lawmakers break with party to vote 'present'
Rep. Adam Schiff was censured by House Republicans for pushing claims of collusion between former President Trump's campaign and Russia. Six Republican members voted present, while no Democrats voted for the censure. The resolution passed narrowly after the fine language was removed and requires an investigation into Schiff's "falsehoods, misrepresentations, and abuses of sensitive information."
