Fox News: McConnell, GOP tell Biden to give up on his Labor secretary pick: ‘Withdraw the nomination’
McConnell, GOP tell Biden to give up on his Labor secretary pick: ‘Withdraw the nomination’
Republican senators call on Biden to withdraw Julie Su's nomination as Labor Secretary, citing her lack of cooperation with requests for information on her support for gig work regulations and an ICE memo. Democrats have not yet brought her nomination for a Senate vote and there are signs that Su may not have enough votes from Democrats in the 51-49 Senate. Su has drawn support from workers' groups and unions, but has faced opposition from Republicans and pro-business organizations.

American Thinker: Were They Spying on Trump All Along?
Were They Spying on Trump All Along?
Former President Trump is facing legal trouble after showing classified documents to guests at his Bedminster Club and moving hundreds of boxes of documents from Mar-a-Lago to his office. The FBI opened an investigation after the National Archives made a criminal referral in February. Trump's attorneys later provided 38 more documents to the grand jury, certifying that was all, but Trump had moved additional boxes. The grand jury then obtained video surveillance of Mar-a-Lago and issued a search warrant for August 8th. If the FBI had been wiretapping Trump, it may explain their prescience.

American Thinker: Secretary of Interior Deborah Haaland seizes control of native lands
Secretary of Interior Deborah Haaland seizes control of native lands
Washington Democrats under scrutiny as Native American communities, specifically the Navajo Nation, contest Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland’s recent seizure of the Navajo Nation land surrounding the Chaco Culture National Park in northwest New Mexico. While Democrats had hoped to celebrate Haaland’s actions, the Navajo Nation has made it clear that their rights to this land and the Dine who live on it need to be respected. Haaland’s decision has exacerbated conflicts between the nineteen Pueblos and the Navajo Nation, leading to criticism from Native American leaders across the nation.

The controversial actions of Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland have rekindled bitter rivalries between the nineteen Pueblos and the Navajo Nation. Haaland’s recent seizure of over 350 acres of Navajo Nation land and BLM land surrounding Chaco to benefit her Laguna Pueblo and other Pueblos has been met with strong opposition from the Navajo Nation. While the Pueblos and the Navajo Nation have been discussing how to manage such land and protect the rights of the Dine who live on the land around Chaco, Haaland’s decision has disregarded agreements and Native sovereignty. The federal government needs to encourage the nineteen Pueblos and the Navajo Nation to create an agreement that addresses their competing interests, starting by rescinding Secretary Haaland’s unilateral action.

Fox News: Samuel Alito slams ProPublica as 'misleading' ahead of report alleging conflict of interest from SCOTUS bench
Samuel Alito slams ProPublica as 'misleading' ahead of report alleging conflict of interest from SCOTUS bench
Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito criticized left-wing nonprofit ProPublica as its "misleading" reporting charges him with failing to recuse and list certain gifts on his 2008 Financial Disclosure Report. The justice denied the validity of either charge as he had no knowledge of how Paul Singer was connected to the party in certain matters and that "personal hospitality" does not require reporting. Alito added that Supreme Court employees cannot search for individuals with financial interests towards parties in a case brought before the Supreme Court. ProPublica has also scrutinized Justice Clarence Thomas on alleged conflicts of interest.

Fox News: Federal court delivers major blow to Biden’s radical equity agenda
Federal court delivers major blow to Biden’s radical equity agenda
A federal judge ruled that the Biden administration cannot discriminate based on race in the case against the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), dedicated to helping only certain preferred racial groups. The MBDA assists certain minority business owners with grants, training, consulting, government contracts, and other benefits to juice up their bottom lines. The MBDA won't help business owners "who trace their ancestry" to the Middle East, North Africa or North Asia, and all minority business owners who own "less than 51% of their business" are also excluded from getting MBDA help. The equity agenda by the Biden administration was built on race-based programs, and the court ruling was a painful blow to this policy.

Spectator USA: Putin is still scared of Alexei Navalny
Putin is still scared of Alexei Navalny
Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny faces charges that could extend his time in prison by thirty or more years. He returned to Russia in January 2021 after recovering from a government attempt to poison him, and was immediately arrested and sentenced to nine years in prison on spurious parole violation charges. Navalny is facing an escalating campaign of pressure, being repeatedly sent into solitary and punishment cells, sometimes simply for not buttoning his prison uniform correctly. His Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) was declared an 'extremist organization' and he may yet face actual terrorism charges, which could see him kept behind bars for life.

Navalny is showing that he is not giving up his challenge to the Putin regime, despite facing these charges. He is characteristically ambitious, vowing to conduct an election campaign against war and Putin. Navalny has appealed for software engineers, sociologists, and political activists to volunteer to build a 'creative' and 'adaptable' strategy to fight an 'election campaign against the candidates named 'War' and 'Putin'' and sow doubts in almost all of them. The more brutal and brutish the regime, especially in the lead-up to elections, the less legitimate it becomes.

Musk Says ‘Cisgender’ And ‘Cis’ Are Now ‘Slurs’ On Twitter
Twitter CEO Elon Musk has labelled the words "cisgender" and "cis" as "slurs" under the social media platform's content policy. Musk warned that anyone engaging in "targeted harassment" against another user would result in "at minimum, temporary suspensions." Musk's comment came in response to a user's tweet claiming they were harassed after rejecting the word "cis." Despite Musk's labeling of the term as a slur, the word has been part of the Oxford English Dictionary since 2015. It is unclear when Twitter began considering the words slurs or whether it has handed out any suspensions.

Biden Admin Forced SSA Employees to Complete LGBTQ+ Training
President Biden's administration forced Social Security Administration employees to undertake LGBT training, which threatened investigations for those deemed noncompliant regarding preferred pronoun use. The training mandated employees to respect the gender identity and sexual orientation of their colleagues and encouraged them to use gender-neutral language in emails and not to assume individuals' gender identity or sexual orientation when referring to them. The SSA also urged managers and supervisors to "encourage employees to report when they witness or hear anyone engaging in mockery, harassment, or misgendering."

China fires back at Biden for calling President Xi Jinping a dictator: 'Extremely absurd and irresponsible'
China criticizes Biden for calling Xi Jinping a dictator after U.S. shot down a Chinese spy balloon, calling it "extremely absurd and irresponsible." The comments were made during a fundraiser in California, where Biden emphasized cooperation with China, though he admitted it would "take time." China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said the remarks "go totally against facts and seriously violate diplomatic protocol, and severely infringe on China’s political dignity." Tensions remain high between the U.S. and China, with contentions over Taiwan, the spy balloon, and the discovery of a Chinese base in Cuba.

Elon Musk, after meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, responded to Jack Dorsey's recent claims that India threatened to shut down Twitter due to censorship issues. Musk stated that Twitter must follow local government laws or face being shut down. He also added that it is impossible to just apply American laws to other countries. Dorsey had claimed that Twitter received requests to censor accounts critical of the administration and those covering the farmers' protests in India, and was threatened with closure. India's Union IT Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar criticized Dorsey, calling his comments an "outright lie."

UK Parliament Starts Inquiry Into UAE’s ‘Scandalous’ Treatment Of Foreign Business Execs
An inquiry has been launched by members of the British parliament into the treatment of foreign executives in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) legal system when accused of breaking the law. The inquiry, which held an evidence-gathering session in parliament on June 14, is chaired by prominent barrister and Labour Party member of the House of Lords, Baroness Helena Kennedy. Among the witnesses was Matthew Hedges, who spoke about his experience of being arrested in Dubai in 2018. The cross-party panel also includes Conservative Party MP Robert Buckland, and Liberal Democrat MP Alistair Carmichael.

The UAE's legal system is under new scrutiny due to the inquiry which hopes to shed light on how foreign business executives accused of breaking the law in the country are treated. The cross-party panel includes members from the Conservative and Liberal Democrat parties. One witness was Matthew Hedges who was arrested in Dubai in 2018. Hedges stated that "you’re fighting against a system which is entirely focused around crushing you.” Charles Ridley, a British businessman, who is currently serving 20 years in a UAE prison, called from his prison cell to testify. Ridley spoke about his alleged fraud linked to a large real estate development in Dubai called The Plantation, which had been backed by a loan from Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB).

Field & Stream: Wildlife Agents Uncover Florida's First Known Case of Chronic Wasting Disease
Wildlife Agents Uncover Florida's First Known Case of Chronic Wasting Disease
Chronic wasting disease (CWD) has been detected in a whitetail deer that was killed during a vehicle collision in the northwest of Florida, marking the first official case in the state in over 20 years of monitoring. The Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission announced the postive test on June 15, revealing that more than 17,500 hunter-killed, road-killed, and diseased deer have been tested for CWD since 2002, with efforts being largely funded by hunting license dollars. The latest case brings the tally to 32 US states to have recorded cases of CWD since its first discovery in captive mule deer in Colorado in 1967.
