Fox News: Sen Cruz leads push to reintroduce ‘Kate’s Law’ to jail repeat illegal immigrants
Senator Ted Cruz is leading the reintroduction of “Kate’s Law”, which calls for illegal immigrants who repeatedly enter the US after being deported to be jailed. Cruz has pushed for the legislation unsuccessfully since 2015, but believes it could now pass with the Republican-controlled House and a slim Democrat majority in the Senate. The law was named after Kate Steinle, who was shot and killed in 2015 by an illegal immigrant who had been deported multiple times. The bill requires a mandatory minimum sentence of five years if convicted of illegal re-entry.
The US is currently facing a migrant crisis, with over 200,000 encounters at the border in May, and officials stating the asylum system has been gutted by former President Trump’s policies. The Republican Party has blamed President Biden’s policies, including “catch and release” and ending the “Remain in Mexico” policy. The reintroduction of Kate’s Law is part of a wider push by Republicans to implement tougher policies to prevent illegal entry, including additional border security and more deportations.

The Epoch Times: Pentagon Leak Suspect Jack Teixeira Pleads Not Guilty
Former Air National Guard member Jack Teixeira has pleaded not guilty to six counts of willful retention and transmission of classified information related to national defense, each carrying a possible sentence of up to 10 years behind bars and a fine of up to $250,000. Teixeira stands accused of committing one of the most serious security breaches since the WikiLeaks fiasco in which hundreds of thousands of documents, videos, and diplomatic cables were leaked to the public. FBI Director Christopher Wray said, "Individuals granted security clearances are entrusted to protect classified information and safeguard our nation’s secrets. The allegations in today’s indictment reveal a serious violation of that trust."
Teixeira allegedly shared classified documents and information on social media while aware that its disclosure could potentially harm the United States or benefit a foreign adversary. The case has sparked concerns about how a low-level airman could have access to Pentagon secrets. President Joe Biden has ordered an investigation into why he was privy to such sensitive information, while two commanders in Teixeira’s unit were later suspended pending a probe.
Forbes: Hunter Biden Case Assigned To Trump-Appointed Judge—Who Dismissed Part Of Lawsuit Surrounding His Infamous Laptop
Federal Judge Maryellen Noreika will preside over the case against Hunter Biden, who has agreed to plead guilty to two misdemeanor charges of failing to pay taxes and will enter a diversion program to avoid a felony charge for possessing a gun as a drug user. Noreika could potentially issue prison time for the charges, which carry maximum sentences of up to one year and 10 years, respectively.
Nominated by former President Donald Trump and confirmed by the Senate in 2018 with bipartisan support, Noreika dismissed a lawsuit against Rep. Adam Schiff in March. She also issued notable rulings in cases involving homemade firearms and the political affiliation requirement for Delaware's high court judges. Hunter Biden's plea deal follows a five-year probe into his business practices that expanded to include his taxes and 2018 gun purchase.
National Review: The Corner: Against the Statist Status Quo
The New York Times praises the populist lodestars of the Republican Party who aspire to anathematize the economic philosophy of the market. In his newsletter, the writer praises some of the loudest market skeptics on the right, giving these Republicans more popularity. The article condemns the Beltway-centric, statist-curious coterie of market skeptics on the right since they accuse their limited-government, free-market antagonists of guardians of the status quo, but they themselves revel in the plaudits of polite society.

The Federalist Papers: What AI Has to Say About Liberal vs. Conservative Women Will Have Liberals Heading for Botox
New research from Denmark and Sweden suggests that conservative women may be perceived as more attractive than their left-wing counterparts. The study used artificial intelligence (AI) to predict individuals' political leanings based solely on headshots. The results showed right-wing women received higher attractiveness scores under a publicly available rating system, whereas the correlation didn't extend to men. The analysis, which did uncover that left-leaning men displayed more neutral facial expressions and less exuberance, appeared to suggest they were less fulfilled and happy. Additionally, left-wing female political candidates were determined by the AI algorithm to have "perfected the art of contempt." The study raises privacy concerns and the ability of AI algorithms to unravel personal attributes from limited data.
Newsbusters: NewsBusters Podcast: The Liberal Media’s Crack(pipe) Hunter Coverage
NewsBusters Podcast scrutinizes liberal media's coverage of Hunter Biden's plea deal, criticizing the weak punishment on the felony gun charge and calling out CNN for lazy research into Fox News coverage. Spectator USA: The Supreme Court under attack — again
Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito responds to allegations of improper disclosures, which ProPublica later published, that he failed to disclose a 2008 fishing trip, which should have recused him, according to reports, in subsequent cases involving hedge fund manager Paul Singer.
A push to delegitimize the Supreme Court and its conservative majority is underway with the goal of undermining their decisions. However, the recent poll suggests the attacks on the court are working, which is to say, lowering approval ratings.
Red State: 33 Republican Senators Call on Biden to Withdraw Su's Stalled Nom for Labor Secretary
Republican senators are urging President Joe Biden to withdraw the nomination of Julie Su for Labor Secretary, citing her refusal to be interviewed by HELP Committee minority staff or staff members representing Republican senators on the committee. Two-thirds of the Senate GOP conference have organized a letter spearheaded by Senator Mike Braun demanding that President Biden withdraw Su’s nomination. Su’s nomination has been stalled for nearly two months, and she has faced opposition from major business groups and associations due to her role in implementing California's AB 5 law that destroyed freelance and independent contracting occupations and industries across the state.
National Review: National Guardsman Jack Teixeira Pleads Not Guilty to Federal Charges
Former National Guardsman Jack Teixeira pleaded not guilty to six federal charges related to leaking sensitive Pentagon documents on a social media platform. The 21-year-old was indicted by the Department of Justice in June for wilful retention and transmission of classified information related to national defense, which Attorney General Merrick B. Garland said could grave national security damage if shared. Among the leaked information, which was posted on Discord, were briefing slides on the war in Ukraine that included operational data, maps of air-defence systems and details of an attempted South Korean ammunition delivery. The scandal has been compared to earlier leaks by Wikileaks and Edward Snowden, and could endanger American espionage agents working within the Russian intelligence bureaucracy.
The New American: Rep. Jordan Exposes IRS Threats and Intimidation - The New American
The IRS is being used to threaten and intimidate those perceived to be a threat to the government's agenda, according to Rep. Jim Jordan. In one case, an IRS agent, using a false name, gained access to a taxpayer's home and threatened her, while investigative journalist Matt Taibbi was harassed by agents showing up unannounced at his home. These tactics are reminiscent of those used during the Obama administration involving Lois Lerner. The IRS has until June 30 to produce documentation demanded by Jordan in the Ohio taxpayer case. Biden's plan to hire 87,000 more agents for the IRS could potentially lead to more intimidation tactics.

The Economist: NATO is agonising over whether to let Ukraine join
NATO is divided over whether to let Ukraine join, with America being the most reluctant, despite being Ukraine's largest provider of military aid. The upcoming summit in Vilnius will seek to preserve unity by reaching a compromise on sending a linguistic signal that Ukraine is moving closer to membership, and making a lattice of enduring security commitments to bolster support for Ukraine "for as long as it takes" . Both France and the US have taken different positions than in 2008, with France wanting a clear "path to membership" and America resisting. Former American ambassador to NATO, Ivo Daalder, warns that admitting Ukraine would be tantamount to NATO promising to fight at its side, as Russia's presence in Ukraine makes a military confrontation between NATO and Russia much more likely.

Daily Wire: Gen Z Are Worst Tippers, Baby Boomers Best, New Survey Finds
Gen Z-ers are not big tippers, according to a new Bankrate poll. Only 24% of Gen Zers always tip their hairdresser, stylist or barber compared to 40% of millennials and 67% of Gen X. They are also reportedly less likely than Baby Boomers to always tip when they eat at a sit-down restaurant, get food delivery or use taxis - 35% compared to 83%. The poll found fewer Americans are tipping each year, and the number of US adults who said they always leave a tip for restaurant servers decreased by 10% - from 75% in 2021 to 65% in 2023. Gen Z-ers may play a role in this as they are less likely to tip and reportedly feel businesses should pay their employees better rather than relying on tips from customers.

Marvel's latest series, Secret Invasion, used generative AI to create the opening credits which sparked backlash online from artists and fans who criticized the ethics of replacing them. Red State: Thank God for Curious Billionaires
Some billionaires are making it their mission to solve the mysteries of the cosmos and advance humanity through exploration. However, there are people who believe that billionaires shouldn't be trying to bring the future to the present when the present has enough problems to solve. But nothing solves the world's problems quite like futuristic thinking. Exploration is not a waste and if it takes billionaires to go where people typically don't for us to get to the next leap in our technological evolution then that's what should be happening. We should be encouraging these billionaires to do these things, not cursing them every time they do something we can't because it's too expensive.
