The Epoch Times: American Civil Society Needs a Warfighting Awareness
American Civil Society Needs a Warfighting Awareness
Drug addiction and "woke" policies are contributing to the devastation of American civil society, with major corporations fleeing cities like San Francisco. Meanwhile, America faces a new type of war from Foreign Adversary Collaborating Hybrid-Warfare Organizations, specifically communist China and Iran. Amid the Beltway's political antics, Congress seeks to prioritize combating the trafficking of fentanyl by transferring Mexico from the jurisdiction of Northcom to Southcom. However, the surge of illegal immigrants into the US also shatters social safety nets and weakens American society, particularly as cities defund police and adopt Marxist utopian notions. The US needs a warfighting awareness as it faces persistent attacks from adversaries both foreign and domestic.

The Epoch Times: Wray Says FBI Is Responding to Durham Report's Criticisms
Wray Says FBI Is Responding to Durham Report's Criticisms
FBI Director Christopher Wray responded to criticisms in John Durham's report, which found the FBI investigation of Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign “seriously deficient.” Wray said the FBI cooperated with the investigation and has implemented reforms to prevent a similar situation. The report found that had the FBI followed its own rules, it would have discovered no evidence of contact between the Trump campaign and Russian intelligence officials.

Wray defended the FBI's handling of January 6 investigations and spoke of the agency’s efforts in fighting crime, cybercrime, and AI-powered scams. Wray detailed the agency's success in cracking down on gang violence and drug trafficking with large-scale busts in cities like Brunswick, Augusta, and Atlanta, and emphasized the threat the Chinese Communist Party poses in the field of cybercrime.

Wednesday's exchange preceded the House's expected censure of Schiff for his involvement in the Trump-Russia investigation.

CNN's Presidential 'Fact-Checker' Has Gone AWOL
CNN's senior presidential fact-checker, Daniel Dale, has been missing since March 30. He has exclusively fact-checked Republicans and has been performing as an opposition fact-checker for the Democratic Party. Dale's recent absence suggests that he is a Democratic operative hired by CNN to fact-check only Republicans. CNN is in ratings hell and CNN's Dale is its most reliable Republican-basher.

Keep Radical Democrats Away From Our Kids
Biden and Democrats are attacking parents' rights, using kids as pawns for political gain. They support biological men competing in women's sports, and push for children's "gender identity" and "transition" to be kept secret from parents. Far-Left groups, including the Biden administration, are coordinating to shape policy that infringes on parents' rights. House Republicans have passed a Parents' Bill of Rights to shift power back to parents.

The Epoch Times: Ukraine War Highlights a New Threat to the American Homeland
Ukraine War Highlights a New Threat to the American Homeland
Pro-Ukraine forces have conducted drone strikes against targets of both material and symbolic importance from within Russian territory, a foreshadowing of a potential strategic threat against the US homeland. Small drones offer America's adversaries a low-cost way to spread panic and paralyze the country's economy, and even though Congress granted the Department of Homeland Security the authority to destroy drones that pose a threat to public safety or national security, provisions remain that leave much of America without 24/7 counter-drone defenses. With a five-year sunset provision, the Preventing Emerging Threats Act needs to be renewed and updated to reflect the fact that small- and medium-sized drone attacks are now a staple of conventional, state-on-state combat that threatens the American homeland as well as military units on the battlefield.

DON’T PASS GO: Newspaper Sues Google for ‘Exorbitant Monopoly Profits’
Gannett, the largest newspaper publisher in the US, has sued Google for having a monopoly over digital ads. The lawsuit, filed in a New York federal court, accuses Google of dictating who can buy and sell ads online, resulting in less revenue for publishers and Google's ad-tech rivals. Google has denied any wrongdoing and claimed that its advertising products benefit publishers and help them fund their content online. The tech giant has been facing antitrust complaints from around the world, including from the Department of Justice earlier this year.

The Epoch Times: Recent Bank Failures Show More Oversight of Midsize Lenders Needed, Fed's Powell Says
Recent Bank Failures Show More Oversight of Midsize Lenders Needed, Fed's Powell Says
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell told lawmakers that the recent banking stress caused by Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank have highlighted the need for more oversight of midsize lenders. Despite this, Powell emphasizes the importance of maintaining “appropriate rules and supervisory practices” that won’t hinder operations, particularly for small- and mid-sized banks. Three of the largest bank failures in the US have occurred this year, but the OCC recently published a report that said the banking system is still considered sound and that banks have been increasing their cash holdings and borrowing capacity to prepare for possible depositor drawdowns. Despite this, future credit conditions are expected to weaken and the World Bank recently warned that restrictive credit conditions and tighter monetary policy could weigh on the international economy in the second half of 2023, particularly if more and disorderly bank failures occur.

Fox News: Anti-woke movie guide site gives conservatives alternative to 'Rotten Tomatoes'
Anti-woke movie guide site gives conservatives alternative to 'Rotten Tomatoes'
Conservative film reviewer, James Carrick, has launched a new movie review site, "Worth it or Woke?", which focuses on films from a conservative Christian perspective. Carrick explains that Hollywood and movie critics have become predictable in their divisive political agendas, leaving audiences frustrated and alienated. He hopes that his site will help other conservatives vote with their dollars and encourage Hollywood to listen to their views.

Carrick finds that critics sometimes rate movies based on their 'wokeness' and not their whole merit, leading films with certain leftist themes to receive high critic scores and significantly lower audience scores. He also notes that gender or race swapping established characters or figures in films can be unnecessary distractions from the storyline. Carrick evaluates films on their storyline, cinematography, performance, direction, and non-wokeness, which gives equal weight to all elements in a film.

Liberal and NDP MPs signal opposition to the bill citing the government's success against COVID-19 thanks to vaccine mandates, scientific research and data.

North Carolina Dad Shoots Intruder Who Accosted 11-Year-Old Daughter On Father’s Day
A North Carolina father fatally shot a 23-year-old man who entered the backyard of his home and allegedly tried to assault his 11-year-old daughter. The man, who was unknown to the family, allegedly tried to follow the children into the home, and the father then shot the intruder, who died from his injuries. North Carolina has a law on the books based on the “Castle Doctrine,” which allows homeowners to shoot intruders who try to enter their home.

Father's Day this year turned violent in many parts of the country, with shootings occurring in Chicago, Detroit, New York City, and Washington, D.C. In most cases, it did not appear to be a father protecting his children. In Chicago, 75 people were shot, with 14 fatalities. In Detroit, 24 people were shot, and four died. In New York City, the father of a one-year-old girl was shot dead, one of four shootings in 24 hours over the weekend. In Washington, D.C., a 6-year-old boy and his father were shot outside their car and rushed to the hospital.

The CBS correspondent who went on a Titan submersible seeking the wreckage of the Titanic spoke to NPR about the contract he had to sign beforehand, describing them as "waivers that would curl your toes". CBS Sunday Morning correspondent David Pogue recounted how the document included descriptions of eight paragraphs which alluded to the possible risks of permanent disability or death, caused by a submersible that, as he described, "has some elements of MacGyver jerry-riggedness." Pogue and the CBS crew eventually had to abandon their planned trip to the Titanic due to adverse weather conditions.
