Breitbart: Peter Schweizer: Feds ‘Ignored Clear Violations of Law' from Hunter Biden
Peter Schweizer and Eric Eggers discuss the Department of Justice's lenient treatment of Hunter Biden's misdemeanors and felony compared to the 37 felony charges they filed against Donald Trump. They state that the ideals of equal justice seem to have been compromised. There is a clear difference in how political actors are treated based on their party affiliation, which can have ominous implications for society.
Forbes: Biden Courts India’s Modi Amid Battle With China For Influence — Despite Protests
The Senate Banking Committee has passed a bill that would allow the FDIC to recover bank executive compensation from the two years prior to any collapse, and enhance regulators’ ability to remove or ban executives who mismanage their banks. However, human rights groups opposed Biden's invitation to India's leader, Narendra Modi, who was previously banned from the US for backing Hindu extremists who targeted Muslims. Modi's trip this week will be his first official state visit and international law experts suggested that it was unlikely Biden would reprimand Modi on human rights, due to India's critical ties to Russia and China.
Newsbusters: IRONY: Avlon Fails At Research, Accuses Fox Of Being Obsessed With Hunter
Senior political analyst John Avlon accused Fox News of being obsessed with Hunter Biden, citing sketchy research. He also sought to fact-check Republican claims of a legal double standard, but did not address the main allegations. Avlon's research found that Fox News mentioned Hunter more than 2,200 times between 2020 and 2022, which equates to about two mentions per day. NewsBusters' search could not replicate the same numbers, finding only 2,045 mentions of Hunter Biden. Despite Avlon's research, his segment did not disprove GOP concerns of a legal double standard, as they argue that Hunter avoided corruption charges.
Fox News: Riley Gaines: 'The rewrite of Title IX is an abomination'
Riley Gaines criticizes Biden administration’s proposal to revise Title IX regulations to include transgender issues in schools. Gaines argues that it equates sex with gender identity, allowing men to share dorm rooms, bathrooms, and locker rooms with women, join sororities, and take away athletic scholarships from women. Gaines also claims that misgendering trans-identified individuals and requesting to be moved due to discomfort sharing a room would be considered sexual harassment, as per the proposed revision.
Fox News: EU migration chief calls Mediterranean shipwreck 'worst ever tragedy' as hundreds feared dead
The EU's migration chief has called the shipwreck last week off Greece, which may have killed hundreds of people, the "worst ever tragedy" of its kind in the Mediterranean Sea. It is thought that an empty fishing boat left from Egypt, picked up 750 migrants and then embarked on the deadly crossing toward Europe. Migrant crossings from eastern Libya to Europe have surged, with an increase of 600% this year alone along this route from the eastern part of Libya towards the EU, according to Johansson. At least 29,000 migrants have died trying to reach Europe since 2014.
Greece has been criticized for not saving the migrants before the shipwreck in international waters. The passengers refused any help and insisted on heading to Italy. Nine Egyptian men suspected of crewing the ship are in pre-trial custody in Greece facing charges including participating in a criminal organization, manslaughter, and causing a shipwreck. The smugglers who have asked the migrants to pay a lot of money to be sent to the EU, are actually sending them to their death. The EUs' migration chief, Ylva Johansson, called for a need to do much more to prevent these kind of tragedies happening in the Mediterranean.
Forbes: Hunter Biden Charges Split GOP—Some Stay Silent As Other Claim ‘Sweetheart Deal’
GOP members are divided over Hunter Biden's plea deal, with some attacking it as a "sweetheart deal" and a "two-tiered system of justice" compared to Trump's indictment, while others have given more measured responses or refused to comment at all. Congresswomen Boebert and Taylor Greene said they would force votes to impeach Biden, but some Republicans dismissed this, citing a lack of evidence. As Republicans become increasingly exposed to risky votes under a slim GOP majority, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has targeted 18 vulnerable house Republicans representing districts Biden won.
2024 Republican presidential candidates' responses to the plea deal have been mixed, with Trump and Florida Governor DeSantis attacking the agreement as overly lenient, but others giving more measured responses and pivoting to the GOP's broader accusations of corruption in the Biden family. Weiss, the Delaware U.S. Attorney, who brought the case against Hunter Biden, is a Trump appointee, but some GOP senators refused to comment at all. Hunter Biden's guilty plea was for failing to file taxes and entering a diversion program to avoid a charge for possessing a gun as a drug user. The tax charges can lead to imprisonment of a year and a fine of $25,000, while the gun charge has a maximum sentence of ten years in prison, a fine, or both.

Fox News: Girl Scouts distance themselves from online form allowing boys in 'gender inclusive' overnight camps
The Girl Scouts USA (GSUSA) has distanced itself from an online form circulating on social media that reportedly asks parents to specify if their child goes by masculine pronouns and would prefer "gender inclusive" sleeping arrangements. The form was reportedly not from the organization's official website and the issue of accommodating transgender youth is left up to local Girl Scout councils. The organization has been allowing transgender girls into the organization for years and has released a new "LGBTQ+ Pride Month" patch this year that K-5 scouts can earn by participating in three of 20 suggested "LGBTQ+ Pride Month Celebration Fun Patch Activities."
The Epoch Times: Thousands Call for Delay to 'Shambolic' Western Australia Heritage Law
Over 29,000 people have signed a petition urging the West Australian government to delay the implementation of the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act, set to come into effect on July 1. The state’s opposition claimed the implementation has been “shambolic,” creating uncertainty and anxiety regarding permits for farmers, plumbing, and civil contracting services. The government has said that the legislation is necessary to ensure an Indigenous cultural heritage survey is carried out before building paddocks and dams. Landowners will have to pay for a survey if they wish to carry out work on land.

Washington Free Beacon: Congress Wants Increased Transparency of Chinese Funding to American Universities
House Republicans are pushing for a new law that would force universities to disclose every dollar they receive from China and other adversarial nations. The Safeguarding American Education From Foreign Control Act, introduced by Rep. Jim Banks, would amend federal disclosure laws to require schools to report every donation made by China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran to the Education Department. The department would then relay the information to the director of National Intelligence and the FBI. Republicans have been raising concerns about Chinese influence at American universities, and the bill would make it harder for institutions to hide donations from the Communist Party.
Fox News: American missile defense system in South Korea cleared for full deployment despite China's outrage: report
The US has cleared the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system in South Korea for full deployment, according to a review by South Korea's defense and environmental ministries. The system creates a globally transportable, rapidly deployable ability to intercept and destroy ballistic missiles during their final phase of flight. The deployment of the THAAD system in 2017 had halted amid concerns of health risks caused by electromagnetic waves from the battery. The latest review found the risks insignificant, meaning work on the system can continue with possible full deployment within a year.
China and Russia had previously condemned the possible deployment of the THAAD system as it could stretch to both communist nations. However, the move came amid a series of North Korean weapons and ballistic missile tests. The complete rollout of THAAD would include building permanent support facilities and increased access for American military personnel to the THAAD base. South Korea's former President Moon Jae-in had previously criticized the installation of the system due to a lack of input from locals, but his conservative successor Yoon Suk Yeol has tightened collaboration with the US over the past year.
Fox News: Kazakhstan surprises participants by ending hosting of Syrian conflict talks
Kazakhstan will no longer host talks aimed at resolving the Syrian conflict that began 12 years ago. Since 2017, the country has served as a venue for discussions involving representatives from Russia, Turkey, Syria, and Iran. The talks have achieved their objectives, including the establishment of de-escalation zones, cessation of bloodshed, and reduction of casualties.
The decision was a surprise to Russia and other participants at the wrapping up of the 20th round of talks held in the capital, Astana. Moscow has waged a military campaign in Syria since September 2015, teaming up with Iran to help Assad's government reclaim control over most of the country.
Fox News: House committee advances bipartisan bill to make Iran sanctions permanent
The House Foreign Affairs Committee approved the Solidifying Iran Sanctions Act, a bipartisan bill to make the 1996 sanctions against Iran permanent. The measure passed unanimously by voice vote and will move to the full House floor for voting.

National Review: The Corner: Protectionism without Sugarcoating
American Heinz ketchup is made with high-fructose corn syrup, but Canadian Heinz ketchup is made with sugar. This is because the U.S. has sugar quotas, where imported sugar is heavily taxed. The extra money paid for sweeteners could have been used to invent new products, lower prices for consumers, employ more workers, invest in new technology, or even give a dividend to shareholders. The sugar industry is an actual case of a consolidated industry charging higher prices on Americans, but it is only able to do so because government policy allows it to.
Forbes: Tesla Stock Falls After Analyst Warns Investors Should Move To ‘Sidelines’ Following 170% Rally
Barclays downgraded Tesla from a buy to a hold, citing a rally over the past six months that is "too rich for his liking." Tesla's added market capitalization came from surging valuations rather than a material change in earnings expectations. The stock fell 3% to $266, on pace for its largest daily loss since April.
The Economist: A farewell to small cars, the industrial icons that put Europe on wheels
Europeans are bidding goodbye to their beloved small cars that were once iconic. The cars, such as the Fiat 500 and Volkswagen Beetle, were a feature of Europe's history, geography, and economics, and were marketed as fitting perfectly into the continent's narrow medieval streets. However, the sales of small European cars have declined by almost half since 2011, and SUVs are increasingly becoming the norm. This trend towards larger cars in Europe is mainly driven by an increase in disposable income and the need to comply with green regulations, as larger cars are able to do so more easily than smaller ones.
Daily Wire: ‘Tough Week’: Bud Light Weekly Sales Hit New Low After Mulvaney Partnership

The previous highest weekly drop was 25.7%. Although it remains the top-selling beer for the year, Bud Light has recently been replaced in May by Modelo Especial. Modeling Especial made up 8.4% of retail beer sales while Bud Light composed 7.3% of retail beer sales for the week ending June 3. The beer brand has lost billions of dollars in market value following the Mulvaney partnership.

The Blaze: Emails reveal Biden administration knew that vaccines had breakthrough infections as early as January 2021, but imposed mandates anyway
Newly obtained emails reveal that the Biden administration learned about breakthrough COVID-19 infections among vaccinated individuals as early as January 2021. Despite this knowledge, President Biden still issued an executive order in September 2021 mandating vaccinations for federal workers and calling on the private sector to do the same. The coercive measures were based on a lie, and Rochelle Walensky, the outgoing director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, had previously discussed breakthrough cases and waning vaccine efficacy in emails with other officials. The hashtag is appropriate for this summary.

This is despite his history of drug abuse and lying on a federal form to purchase a firearm. Many have criticized the Justice Department for allowing such a double standard in the criminal justice system to persist.
