The Epoch Times: Top Australian Military Officers Referred to Hague Over Afghan Leadership
Top Australian Military Officers Referred to Hague Over Afghan Leadership
Top Australian military officers have been referred to the International Criminal Court over their leadership during the Afghan war campaign after allegations that Australian soldiers committed war crimes. Tasmanian Senator Jacquie Lambie filed an Article 15 communication with the ICC Prosecutor, alleging a culture of covering up incidents that went to the top, asking the Prosecutor to look into the commanders of the Afghan campaign. The government and the Coalition expressed their willingness to support the ICC communication in the Senate.

The senator alleged that the Australian government had been stonewalling her call to investigate the senior commanders, claiming evidence from multiple independent sources that indicated that commanders of the SAS had allegedly been aware of the unlawful behaviour for years. An ex-Australian SAS soldier was arrested and charged with a war crime in March, in connection with alleged murders of at least 39 Afghan civilians and prisoners. The Inquiry recommended charges be laid against 19 defence personnel.

The Epoch Times: Pentagon Admits $6.2 Billion 'Accounting Error' in Military Aid for Ukraine
Pentagon Admits $6.2 Billion 'Accounting Error' in Military Aid for Ukraine
The Pentagon has overestimated the value of the weapons sent to Ukraine in the past two years by $6.2 billion. Instead of using the actual value of what was pulled from the Pentagon’s weapons stockpile and sent to Ukraine, they used the value of replacing those weapons, resulting in the error. This announcement is convenient for Kyiv, which is fighting a counteroffensive and continues to ask for more military and economic help from Washington.

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy has pushed back on comments from Republican presidential contenders who expressed skepticism about continuing to arm Ukraine at the present rate. He believes that if Ukraine fails and Russia occupies them, the U.S. will have to choose between keeping NATO or entering the war. When asked whether he was worried if certain candidates winning the 2024 U.S. presidential election, Zelenskyy said he believes that Americans will choose the “most worthy” leader and that he will respect their choice. However, he is concerned about the risk of a change in policy regarding diminished support for Ukraine.

Foreign Policy: A Failed African Peace Mission to Ukraine and Russia
A Failed African Peace Mission to Ukraine and Russia
African leaders' peace mission to Ukraine and Russia was rebuffed by both sides when it came to calling a cease-fire amid soaring global food and fertilizer prices impacting Africa. The delegation, including presidents of Comoros, Senegal, South Africa, and Zambia, sought to negotiate peace, but Ukrainian President Zelensky refused to negotiate with the occupier on their land, while Russian President Putin blamed the West for food price rises. The delegation proposed a 10-point peace plan, including withdrawals from Ukrainian territory, prisoner exchange, and free flow of grain and fertilizer to the market.

Townhall: Less Freedom
Less Freedom
The United States has fallen to 25th place in economic freedom due to excessive government spending, which takes away from individual financial freedom. Politicians promise free services like child care and healthcare, but government policies take away money and freedom. Bureaucrats add thousands of regulations that limit individual freedom, and politicians ban choices such as natural gas hookups and gas-powered cars. The countries with the least economic freedom have the most smothering governments, including Sudan, Venezuela, Cuba, and North Korea. Countries with more economic freedom are generally better off and prosperous.

The Epoch Times: Teacher's Registration Cancelled for Refusing to Call Student by Preferred Pronouns
Teacher's Registration Cancelled for Refusing to Call Student by Preferred Pronouns
A New Zealand math teacher's teaching license was revoked for refusing to use a transgender student's preferred name and pronouns. He stated transitioning went against his Christian values and calling the girl by a boy's name would be serious misconduct. The tribunal found the teacher guilty of "serious misconduct," stating that he "ignored the student's wishes" and that his arguments were "disgraceful" and borne from "unrealistic hysteria." The teacher's registration was cancelled, and he resigned after the complaint was made. This case is similar to a U.S. case where a teacher was fired for not using preferred pronouns.
