Fox News: ABC's Jonathan Karl: Hunter Biden charges will be a 'major issue' in 2024
Hunter Biden's guilty plea to two misdemeanor tax violations and felony gun registration have been called a "major issue" by ABC News correspondent Jonathan Karl, who predicts it will be used by Republicans in the 2024 presidential election. Karl says Donald Trump will likely use it to claim that the Biden family is using their name for financial gain and got special treatment from the Biden Justice Department, thus pointing out the "two-tier system of justice" and Hunter Biden's criminal record. Concerns about Hunter Biden's shady foreign business dealings will continue, though Republicans have not proven any major allegations against President Biden or his family yet.

Forbes: Ukraine Has Thousands Of Old Armored Tractors. It Just Turned Six Of Them Into Fighting Vehicles.
Kyiv is short on infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) in the ongoing war with Russia in Ukraine. However, Ukrainian industry has developed an up-armored and up-gunned version of the MT-LB diesel-fueled armored tractor that can function as a fighting vehicle. Although imperfect, the MT-LB IFV, complete with a remote-controlled turret and a 14.5-millimeter heavy machine gun, adds another improvised armored vehicle to the taxonomy of the Russia-Ukraine war. It is unclear how many more MT-LB IFVs will be produced in the future, but with over 2,000 old MT-LBs in storage, Ukraine may not need to build new ones.

The Epoch Times: Journalist Defends Reporting on Election Interference
Journalist Sam Cooper testified in front of Canadian MPs that he stands by his reporting on evidence that foreign interference tried to influence the 2019 and 2021 federal elections in Canada, including efforts by China. Cooper believes a public inquiry would uncover actionable recommendations based on previous efforts by other nations, who have implemented counter-foreign interference laws. Cooper’s reporting was questioned by Liberal MPs and he refused to comment on editorial processes, identification of sources, or legal challenges. The former head of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service also testified, cautioning there are no easy solutions for foreign interference and that Canadians need to become more interested in national security.
Foreign Policy: Mali’s Uncertain Future
Mali teeters on the brink of an uncertain future as final results from a constitutional referendum are postponed due to violence against electoral authorities. The proposed constitution would expand the power of the president and military junta while establishing a second parliamentary chamber, a separate court of auditors, and affirming Mali's status as a secular society. Only 27 percent of eligible voters turned out to the polls amid opposition from those who feel the new constitution would undermine parliamentary representation. Mali experts fear a U.N. withdrawal could further fuel the violence.

The Imaginative Conservative: Tolkien's Traditionalism: Conveniently Forgotten?

He was troubled by the state of the Church in the aftermath of the Second Vatican Council and was critical of its modernizing tendencies. However, he remained loyal to the Church and recognized the importance of preserving its traditions in the face of persecution. He believed that the Church alone could carry over any significant tradition of a higher mental civilization.

Flag And Cross: Penguins' Airplane-Style Wings Make Them Fastest Swimming Birds
New research shows that Gentoos, the penguins with bright orange bills, have airplane-style wings which allow them to reach 22mph in water. The propulsion generated by their unique feathering allows them to move with superior swimming ability, start or break, accelerate or decelerate, and turn swiftly. Penguins' freely waving wings enable them to propel and manoeuvre in water and maintain balance on land. Scientists believe their discovery could lead to better and swifter marine robots and have implications for search and rescue missions. The Gentoos' swimming skills allow them to adapt to limited food and threats of predation from leopard seals, sea lions, and orcas. The study's findings could guide the design of aquatic vehicles.

The Epoch Times: Second Censure Resolution for Adam Schiff Fails. Why?
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) has faced two motions to censure him, one in 2019 and another in June 2023, both unsuccessful. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) is planning to lead another modified effort to censure Schiff. The Democrats voted together to table the current motion, letting Schiff off the hook again. It is unclear whether censures would be effective or would just set up a pattern of left and right vendettas down the road. The role of Congress is to write up laws that defend liberty and uphold the national interest instead of eroding the rule of law.
