The American Spectator: How About Celebrating Juneteenth With Some Housecleaning?
The Biden administration made Juneteenth a federal holiday, but the Democrat Party needs to take accountability for their own racism and history of slavery and segregation. There is a sickness in the black community in America that goes beyond societal degeneration, with incidents of looting and crime during Juneteenth celebrations indicative of a wider issue. The black community needs better leadership and assistance in combatting the violence and degradation, and until this commitment is in evidence, making Juneteenth a federal holiday is just empty posturing.

Forbes: U.S. Housing Starts Rise Rapidly, Oil Prices Decline: A Surprise On Both Counts
U.S. housing data surprised with a strong rise in construction, but oil prices took a hit. The construction industry is a significant driver of oil demand, with new homes fueling consumption. Rising interest rates have made relocation economically unattractive, prompting a need for new construction. The recent surge in housing starts is an atypical event during a period of weak data, driven by the stranglehold on the supply of homes for sale. Economic analysts suggest concerns over the possibility of the Federal Reserve raising interest rates to curb an overheating economy has prompted traders to exercise greater caution, resulting in downward pressure on oil prices.
PJ Media: Less Freedom
Politicians promise free programs like health care and child care, but government is force and every law takes away money or freedom. The US has fallen in the rankings for economic freedom due to excessive spending and regulations. India is towards the bottom due to bureaucratic red tape, while Sudan, Venezuela, Cuba, and North Korea rank the lowest. The freest countries are Taiwan, Ireland, Switzerland, and Singapore, but even Singapore restricts personal freedoms. Economic freedom leads to a more prosperous, healthier, and cleaner environment. Politicians' policies often make things worse.

Townhall: Consistent Christians Oppose Abortion
Michele Hendrickson, a Christian, Nazarene Minister, and Director of Strategic Initiatives with Students for Life of America, opposes abortion based on her interpretation of the Bible. She criticizes an argument made by Rebecca Todd Peters in Newsweek that claims there is no mention of abortion in the Bible, citing specific scriptures that reference the preborn. Hendrickson argues that human beings are created in God's image from the moment of conception and that taking innocent life is not supported by biblical justification. She also believes it is important for the church to support women in unexpected pregnancy situations without judgement and equip themselves with the tools needed to respond to the crisis of abortion.

Townhall: Dobbs Wasn’t the Most Important Change to Abortion. Virtual Care Was.
The online availability of abortion pills is becoming increasingly prevalent in the US. However, this has led to disturbing cases of parents using the pills to kill newborns, and women receiving pills without being informed about the stage of their pregnancy or the nature of the procedure. In fact, some online prescription services do not even ask for age verification. It is a fight between pro-life and pro-abortion groups seeking to protect women from abuse by developing accessible virtual alternatives to abortion.
Forbes: Healthcare Costs Will Increase Significantly Over The Next Decade
Healthcare costs have risen significantly in the past 20 years due to expensive labor forces, high pharmaceutical prices and research costs. An aging population, like the US's baby boomers approaching retirement, will require more resources. Two large healthcare insurers recently expressed concern about rising medical costs as people seek more care after delaying during the pandemic. Technology like telemedicine and at-home diagnostics may alleviate some costs in the long term but authorities must address the crisis.

Forbes: Australia Win Epic Test Cricket Match As England’s Overly Attacking Strategy Backfires
Australia won an epic Ashes opener against England, achieving one of their greatest Test victories ever, with a chase of 281. Australia exorcised a number of ghosts of the past by hauling in a tough chase, with just two wickets in hand. Skipper Pat Cummins inspired the team and produced a match-winning 44 not out on the tense final day, alongside Nathan Lyon, in a half-century stand to thwart England. The Australian victory came as England's high-voltage approach is under the microscope, with their 'Bazball' playing style attempting to upend traditional and accepted convention of Test cricket.

Townhall: Three Questions for Biden’s Newest Regulator
The Senate Commerce Committee is set to hold a hearing on Biden's FCC commissioner nominee, Anna Gomez, who has a limited public record on controversial telecommunications issues. Senators should use the hearing to put her on record about issues such as Net Neutrality, digital discrimination, and content moderation. The American people deserve to know where FCC nominees stand on these key issues.
