The Epoch Times: Alberta, Saskatchewan Premiers Won't Implement Ottawa's Sustainable Jobs Act
Alberta, Saskatchewan Premiers Won't Implement Ottawa's Sustainable Jobs Act
Saskatchewan and Alberta are opposing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Just Transition legislation and net-zero plan, called the Canada Sustainable Jobs Act. Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe says the legislation represents a cap on natural resource production and sacrifices energy affordability and reliability for an ideological target of reducing emissions. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has refused to implement the legislation, saying it endangers sustainable oil and gas sector jobs. She stated Alberta has its own Emissions Reduction and Energy Development Plan, a carbon-neutral energy economy by 2050 primarily achieved through investment in emissions reduction technologies and increasing Alberta LNG exports to replace higher-emitting fuels internationally.

YouTube says it removed Jordan Peterson interview of RFK Jr. for violating vaccine policy
YouTube took down an interview of Democrat presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. in which he claimed that chemicals in the water are turning kids transgender. Kennedy and podcast host Jordan Peterson tweeted that the video-sharing website had taken down their interview from an episode of Peterson’s show and accused the social media platform of censorship and interfering with a presidential campaign. A Google spokesperson said the company removed the video for violating YouTube's general vaccine misinformation policy, which prohibits content that alleges that vaccines cause chronic side effects, outside of rare side effects that are recognized by health authorities.

RCMP Investigating PM, Other Officials Over SNC-Lavalin Affair
The RCMP is investigating Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and former finance minister Bill Morneau, along with some of their staff and former Clerk of the Privy Council Michael Wernick, for obstructing justice in the SNC-Lavalin case. The investigation follows allegations that Trudeau and his cabinet members pressured then-Attorney General Jody Wilson-Raybould to stop the prosecution of SNC-Lavalin in 2018. The company had allegedly paid Libyan officials millions in order to secure contracts, and hope to resolve the issue through a deferred prosecution agreement. SNC-Lavalin plead guilty to fraud in December 2019, agreeing to a $280 million fine and three-year probation order.

The Imaginative Conservative: Capitalism Produces Socialism
Capitalism Produces Socialism
Pope Pius XI saw that socialism did not emerge out of nothing, but rather is produced out of liberal society. Liberalism and socialism are two sides of the same coin, brought into being by replacing structures of solidarity with structures of self-interest. Opposition to socialism is only coherent when it takes the form of a commitment to social solidarity and ultimately, to Christianity. Pius developed Catholic social teaching to address this situation during a time in Europe similar to current political and economic turmoil.

Schwarzenegger Once Again Compares Jan. 6 to Kristallnacht
Arnold Schwarzenegger compared the Jan. 6 Capitol breach to Kristallnacht during an interview with CNN’s Chris Wallace, defending his previous comparison of the two events. The former California governor argued that both events occurred because citizens were lied to. Despite differences, Schwarzenegger claimed that the Capitol breach was a threat to democracy, urging people to learn from history. In his opinion, Americans are being misled the same way his Nazi father was during World War II.

Ford Recalls Nearly 1 Million Trucks and SUVs Over Missing Manual Info
Ford is recalling nearly one million vehicles due to the lack of instructions for adjusting certain head restraints in owner manuals. The recall affects selected 2018-2023 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs with third-row seating and Ford Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, and F-600 SuperCab vehicles and three-passenger front bench seat regular cab models. Without these instructions, the vehicles don't comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 202 and could increase the risk of injury if involved in an accident. An investigation revealed that "human error" led to the missing information, and Ford will mail addendums of the owner’s manuals to customers, free of charge, between July 10 and July 24.

North Korea Calls Failed Spy Satellite Launch 'The Most Serious' Shortcoming, Vows 2nd Launch
North Korean officials vow to make a second attempt to launch a spy satellite, following the failure of their first attempt in May. A report by the state-run Korean Central News Agency criticized officials who conducted the preparations for the previous launch and set forth tasks to learn lessons, find what caused the loss, and make a successful launch in a short span of time. The ruling party meeting ended Sunday, but the report did not set a date for the second launch attempt. North Korea has conducted over 100 missile tests since the beginning of 2022, with a spy satellite being one of the many high-tech military assets that Kim Jong Un plans to acquire.

The Epoch Times: Tories Question Feds Over Report Alleging McKinsey Tried to Boost Opioid Sales in Canada
Tories Question Feds Over Report Alleging McKinsey Tried to Boost Opioid Sales in Canada
The Canadian government gave more than $100m in contracts to McKinsey & Co. despite allegations that it promoted sales of highly addictive opioids. The party was challenged to sever ties with the consulting firm by opposition Conservatives. McKinsey reportedly sent a memo in March 2014 to Purdue Pharma outlining how it planned to support the company to better target high-potential prescribers in Canada and increase incentives for sales representatives. McKinsey faces action alleging it carried out “false, reckless and deceptive marketing campaigns” to boost sales of the drugs. In May, the federal government pledged to join that class-action lawsuit.

Vice and The Verge painted the interview as spreading misinformation and criticized Spotify for airing the podcast, while Dr. Peter Hotez, a pro-vaccine advocate, complained that Spotify did not censor Rogan. Rogan offered $100,000 to Dr. Hotez if he debated RFK Jr. on vaccines, and Twitter personalities pledged to donate more than $2.6 million to charity if Hotez agreed to debate. Luis Enrique has been without a managerial position since being sacked from the Spanish national team role after an underwhelming World Cup campaign. PSG sees Enrique as a tight fit for the role and the right man to follow Christophe Galtier in the job. It still has Neymar and Kylian Mbappé, at least for now, and upcoming recruits such as Milan Škriniar and Manuel Ugarte.

National Review: The Corner: The Whales Declare War
The Corner: The Whales Declare War
Killer whales are attacking yachts off the coast of Spain and experts are ignoring the threat. Some believe it is an act of concerted cetacean revenge against boats for prior traumas while others think it reflects the emptiness of progressive aspiration in 2023. The very word "orca" suggests that they hail from a Rothbardian anarcho-capitalist intellectual tradition and believe themselves to be acting as “private defense agencies” in an otherwise stateless utopia. Killer whales have the advantage of surprise and initiative with their plan to capsize and destroy boats with purpose. Diplomacy has failed and the fight must be taken to them.
