Joe Biden and other Democrats celebrated Juneteenth as a federal holiday, but failed to acknowledge their party's history of supporting slavery, segregation, and racism, with not even a mention of apology. The Democrat Party was formed by slave owners and had six platforms supporting slavery from 1840-1860. There is also no reference to the seven Democratic presidents who owned slaves from 1800-1861, or the 20 platforms that supported segregation outright or were silent from 1868-1948. Democrats also opposed the Thirteenth, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth Amendments to the Constitution, and opposed civil rights acts and the desegregation of the federal government. The party's history includes the formation of the Ku Klux Klan as well as supporting Jim Crow laws.

Spectator USA: Macron needs to get over AUKUS
France's President Emmanuel Macron is still angry over Australia's termination of the "contract of the century" to supply diesel-powered submarines to Canberra, despite the incident being declared officially closed. This anger is causing issues as AUKUS's importance increases, and France has an important role to play in an expanding AUKUS. The alliance morphs into something that could shape the West's coordinated response to regional strategic threats.
AUKUS has already deepened beyond submarines, covering undersea, advanced cyber and quantum technologies, artificial intelligence, electronic warfare, hypersonic and counter-hypersonic missile cooperation, and nuclear technology. The "Five Eyes" partnership between the AUKUS founders plus Canada and New Zealand allows AUKUS to evolve and adapt nimbly to regional strategic requirements, without prior commitment to action and without unduly provoking China by a formal alliance. Expanding AUKUS could include other threatened regional nations like Japan, South Korea, and possibly France, who may well bolster their Indo-Pacific presence and strategy through the EU, at present building its Indo-Pacific strategy.
