The Epoch Times: Meta Tests Blocking News Content for Some Canadian Users in Response to Liberals' Online News Bill
Meta Tests Blocking News Content for Some Canadian Users in Response to Liberals' Online News Bill
Canadian publishers are unhappy with Meta's decision to temporarily block news content for some Canadian users on its Facebook and Instagram platforms in response to the Online News Act, a Liberal government bill. The legislation would require digital giants such as Google and Meta to pay Canadian news organisations if they link to or otherwise publish news content on those platforms. Google had done a similar test earlier this year to block news links for some Canadian users in response to the controversial bill. In response to the news, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said it was "unacceptable" and suggested it was attacking democracy in Canada. (, )

New South Wales Premier Chris Minns stated that while people have the right to demonstrate, protests in precarious sites put emergency service personnel at risk. Protests laws remain in place to address the issue.

The Epoch Times: Canada's Housing Crisis: Inevitable Crash and Economic Turmoil Predicted
Canada's Housing Crisis: Inevitable Crash and Economic Turmoil Predicted
Canadian single-family homes are too expensive relative to the income of residents, and interest rate rises have exacerbated the problem to the point of an economic and social crisis, according to Bank of Montreal economists Doug Porter and Robert Kavcic. This is a result of population growth, government-induced unsustainable demand, supply suppression and artificially low interest rates. Neither the left's solution of building cheap high-density apartments nor the right's strategy of lifting restrictions to let the private sector create supply will work. A housing market crash is imminent, said BMO.
