Fox News: Comer reveals plans to bring in more witnesses for 'Biden family influence-peddling' probe
Comer reveals plans to bring in more witnesses for 'Biden family influence-peddling' probe
The House Oversight Committee is continuing its probe into allegations of bribery and influence peddling by President Biden and his family. Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., said there are more witnesses and sources to come forward despite obstacles the committee has had to overcome to gather information, including securing bank records and access to Treasury, Cabinet's suspicious activity reports. Comer alleged indirect wire transfers to Biden family members while he was vice president originated in Romania and China via shell companies, and an FBI 1023 form has deepened the investigation. The committee plans to depose key figures in the investigation.

American Thinker: Obama tells GOP presidential candidate Tim Scott how he's allowed to be black
Obama tells GOP presidential candidate Tim Scott how he's allowed to be black
Former US President Barack Obama is being criticized for telling Black Republican senator Tim Scott how to address racism in the US. During a podcast interview, Obama targeted Scott over his stance on race, stating that Republican candidates are guilty of glossing over the impacts of racism. However, Scott fought back saying, “Let us not forget we are a land of opportunity, not a land of oppression.” Obama's judgment has raised suspicions that Democratic Party members are targeting conservative black individuals they perceive to be going against cultural norms.

National Review: We Need More Babies
We Need More Babies
Global birth rates are falling, and countries with birth rates below replacement include the U.S., China, Europe, Brazil, and India. This will cause problems such as fiscal havoc with higher numbers of non-working people requiring more social benefits but fewer taxpayers to pay for them, and potential inflation. Economists have disagreed over the benefits of a declining population, with 58 percent believing that the economic costs outweigh the benefits. The economic and cultural reasons for declining fertility are also complex, including expensive household costs, student loans, and a lack of priority, among other reasons. Pro-natalist policies have not always worked, so ideas such as relaxing housing restrictions, reducing college costs, and societal focus on new children could help.

National Review: An Illegal Late-Term Abortion Exposes the Contradictions in British Law
An Illegal Late-Term Abortion Exposes the Contradictions in British Law
Abortion in the UK is not framed in terms of rights but exceptions, meaning that if the necessary conditions are not met, it remains a criminal offense under the 1861 Offences against the Person Act which carries a punishment of up to life imprisonment. The exceptions have become so permissive that they accommodate most abortions anyway and the practice of box-ticking allows British citizens to retain a veil of civility around abortion. During the coronavirus pandemic, temporary measures were introduced allowing for access to pills inducing early abortions through the tenth week of pregnancy. Carla Foster, age 44, was convicted of "child destruction" and sentenced to 28 months of imprisonment for breaking this law.

American Thinker: Are you ready for the Juneteenth federal holiday tomorrow?
Are you ready for the Juneteenth federal holiday tomorrow?
Monday marked the second anniversary of Juneteenth, a federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery. Juneteenth carries a disparate impact, benefiting African Americans with a paid holiday not received by many other employees. The holiday is widely celebrated, but the push for reparations and increased racial identity politics continue to create division.

Despite the Emancipation Proclamation, slavery existed for years after the Civil War ended. Juneteenth commemorates the day on which all slaves were informed of their freedom, albeit late. While Juneteenth represents an important time for African Americans in the US, entitlement and victimhood have become increasingly widespread and are creating divisions between different ethnic groups. Celebrating the end of slavery through Juneteenth highlights the importance of freedom, but the push for reparations and the increased focus on identity politics and entitlement are issues that require more attention.

Liberty Nation: China Is an Economic Threat, While US Puts on Drag Shows
China Is an Economic Threat, While US Puts on Drag Shows
The House Foreign Affairs Committee heard from Biden administration members about the Chinese threat to the US economy at a hearing on June 14. Members heard about China's Belt and Road Initiative, designed with Beijing's interests in mind, which represents an obstacle to US competitiveness, diminishes the ability of US companies to sustain market share, and threatens national and economic security. The committee also heard that China invests heavily in foreign production, recently putting more than $7 billion into a new battery gigafactory in Hungary, with the aim of capturing and locking down the battery supply chain for BMW and Mercedes. The US must act to ensure it is more present on the global stage, with less emphasis on social justice campaigns and programs such as drag shows in developing countries.

National Review: Step Back in Time with Hitty
Step Back in Time with Hitty
Author Rachel Field's Newberry Award-winning book Hitty: Her First Hundred Years follows the life of a small wooden doll from her creation in early-1800s Maine up through her arrival at an antiques store in mid-1900s New York. Along the way, Hitty observes major historical changes, from the whaling industry to the effects of the Civil War, while weathering many storms and being held dear by several owners. The book is a charming blend of creative scenes, historical information, and a witty protagonist that will sweep readers away on a doll-sized tale.

The Epoch Times: Oklahoma cowboy artist rides with ranchers to paint contemporary Western culture still thriving
Oklahoma cowboy artist rides with ranchers to paint contemporary Western culture still thriving
Mikel Donahue, a Tulsa artist who grew up on his granddad's ranch, paints authentic Western scenes by joining cowboys in their daily routines. He hopes to portray them "in a true and honest way," without resorting to using models. Donahue quit his marketing job in 2009 to become a full-time artist, and his works have gained prominence since then, often featuring tiny details such as nails, which are crucial to the depiction of the cowboy way of life. He works in gouache and acrylic, adding watercolor to his works, and uses small illustration boards and thin washes to create depth and atmosphere.
