Fox News: Coast Guard intercepts $186M in cocaine across Atlantic, Caribbean
The US Coast Guard seized over 14,000 pounds of cocaine worth $186 million in nine separate incidents across international waters, resulting in the apprehension of 12 suspected smugglers. The drugs were offloaded in Miami, and their origin or destination has not been revealed.
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime has reported a surge in cocaine production and demand worldwide over the past two years, with law enforcement interceptions of cocaine shipments reaching a record high of nearly 2,000 tons in 2021.
Breitbart: Oregon Republicans Crush Radical Abortion Measure in 6-Week Walkout
Oregon Senate Republicans ended their six-week walkout after persuading state Democrats to drop plans to allow minors to obtain abortions without parental consent. The GOP's boycott, the longest in state history, had put the political careers of at least ten Republican lawmakers at risk under a voter-approved measure. The parties eventually reached a compromise, agreeing to retain a state law requiring parental permission for minors under 15 to have an abortion. The hashtag for this news item is .
Fox News: Tim Scott slams Obama, 'radical left' on education: 'They have failed, they have failed, and they have failed'
Sen. Tim Scott criticized former President Obama's handling of race issues and education during a Fox News Sunday interview. Scott accused the former president of not doing enough to develop racial unity during his two terms and failing to produce results when it came to education. He also noted that Democrats had refused to allow school choice programs to be implemented in big blue cities, despite the poor state of public education systems across the country.
In a recent interview, former President Obama criticized Sen. Scott's discussion of race issues, suggesting that minority conservatives in the Republican Party often "validate America and say, ‘Everything’s great, and we can make it.'" Scott responded by arguing that he should be the one standing up and denying claims of systemic racism in the U.S. He also highlighted his efforts to raise funding for historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and called out Obama and the Democrats for their lack of progress in education.
American Thinker: The Southern Poverty Law Center releases its annual “Year in Hate and Extremism” report, beclowning itself
The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) labeled Moms for Liberty an "extremist group" for advocating for age-appropriate books in schools. The SPLC branded virtually any right-leaning organization, including the Founders, as a "hate group," while tolerating violent groups like Antifa. Founded by a leftist seeking donors, the SPLC's credibility is questionable, as evidenced by their assertion that Fox News host Tucker Carlson's claims about a Capitol protester were false, based solely on a "60 Minutes" segment.
Breitbart: Jonathan Turley: 'Garland Has Been a Failure'
Attorney General Merrick Garland has failed to restore public trust in the Department of Justice, says George Washington University legal scholar Jonathan Turley in a column for The Hill. Turley notes that Garland has failed to address political bias, refused to appoint a special counsel in the investigation of Hunter Biden, and allowed the department to pursue parents who objected to ideological indoctrination at school board meetings.
National Review: Tim Scott Declines to Say Whether He Would Pardon Trump: ‘Not Going to Deal with the Hypotheticals’
Senator Tim Scott refuses to comment on the possibility of pardoning Donald Trump if he is convicted in the classified documents case. Republican presidential candidates Vivek Ramaswamy and Nikki Haley have differing opinions on the issue, with Ramaswamy pledging to pardon Trump and Haley favoring a pardon “for the good of the country.” Asa Hutchinson has called on Trump to drop out of the race, and Scott vows to “clean out” the Justice Department if elected.
Breitbart: Tim Scott: America Is Not a Racist Country, Progress in This Nation Is 'Undeniable'
Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) denies racism exists in America, dismissing Obama's previous claims that it is an issue for the Republican Party. Scott argues that the American public supported Obama's presidency twice and that progress has been made in the country, disproving the lies of the radical left.
Daily Wire: Vivek Ramaswamy Counters Mark Cuban’s Claim That ‘Woke’ Capitalism Is ‘Good Business’
GOP candidate Vivek Ramaswamy argues that "woke" capitalism is bad for business and American democracy. He rebukes billionaire Mark Cuban's comments that "woke" means ensuring a company's workforce 'looks like' a product's customer base and "making sure you can reflect their values and being able to connect to that." Ramaswamy cites brands like Bud Light and companies like Target, which lost tremendous amounts in market value after conservatives pushed back on LGBT-themed campaigns, as proof that going "woke" is bad for business.

Fox News: 'The Good Place' star comes out against gender-neutral award show categories: 'Completely shut out women'
Jameela Jamil opposes gender-neutral award show categories and argues for a separate non-binary category. She fears that gender-neutral categories might cause disproportionate success for men at award shows. Jamil thinks it is better to expand the possibilities and add a non-binary category instead. She also criticizes the Oscars' new diversity standards that could limit filmmakers' choices and the liberal left for being reductive and combative (society).

Fox News: No more 'old thinking;' US needs a military build-up to combat Chinese aggression: Rep. Waltz
Rep. Michael Waltz opposes Secretary of State Antony Blinken's trip to China, citing China's violation of U.S. sovereignty and international law. He believes that sending high-ranking officials to China plays right into Chinese propaganda and that it is old thinking to rely on communication with China. Waltz suggests that the establishment institutions, such as Wall Street, academia, Hollywood, and sports, are desperate for the status quo to maintain their profits.
Antony Blinken, the U.S. Secretary of State, arrived in Beijing on Sunday morning. This visit marks the first time that a U.S. Secretary of State has visited China in five years. Blinken aims to defuse tensions between the two countries that have sparred over various issues, including human rights in Hong Kong and Chinese military aggression towards neighbors in the South China Sea.

The Economist: France’s top general on lessons from the battlefield
France's top soldier, General Thierry Burkhard, led a full-scale division-level exercise involving 12,000 soldiers, 400 combat vehicles, and 50 fighter jets for 17 days in April and May. The exercise focused on high-intensity warfare and centred on a fictitious incursion by a neighbouring state into “Arnland”. The final phase of ORION 23 involved live-fire exercises, hybrid warfare, simulated drills, drone attacks and inter-allied co-ordination to push back the invading force. Burkhard highlights the importance of integrating platforms together and coherence over mass in medium-sized armies.
France's 2024-2030 military budget plan aims to modernise its nuclear deterrent, build a new-generation nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, and add 109 Caesar howitzers, 3,000 drones, and more. However, the French army will get 497 fewer Griffon and Jaguar armoured vehicles, and the airforce will get 48 fewer new Rafale fighter jets than planned. General Burkhard argues the budget is taking France in the right direction, prioritizing capable forces and coherence rather than sizeable ones. Burkhard emphasizes the importance of being ready to go to war and having an army that is not only ready to parade on Bastille Day.

Flag And Cross: Scrambling Parasite Sensors Could Halt Malaria Infection, Say Scientists
Scientists believe that disorienting the malaria parasite could be a way to stop the infection that kills 621,000 people every year and hits 250 million people annually. The parasite uses protein sensors to know where it is and what to do as it travels from mosquito to human, and if these sensors were scrambled it could disorientate the parasite and prevent it from multiplying. This could stop painful fevers and the destruction of red blood cells that cause severe forms of malaria. Researchers have identified a sensor made up of five proteins that gives the parasite a sense of where it is, which once absent, means the parasite is unable to continue its development when it enters either another red blood cell or mosquito.
Flag And Cross: Alzheimer's May Begin In Womb, New Research Shows
New research suggests that the early stages of Alzheimer's disease can begin in the womb due to abnormalities in brain development. Studies on humans show that neurogenesis, the process of stem cells developing into specific types of brain cells, could lead to a person being vulnerable to the illness later in life. Neurodegenerative diseases are most often diagnosed in middle age, but the clinical signs of Alzheimer's can appear several decades after the onset of decline in certain brain cell connections. With no cure for Alzheimer's in sight, an increasing focus is being placed on protective lifestyles such as eating healthily and staying fit.
The Epoch Times: Acupuncture Improves Outcomes for Dialysis Patients: Study
A recent study out of Portugal found that acupuncture can be safely integrated into dialysis treatment and have noticeable benefits. In the patient-assessor-blinded randomized controlled trial, patients who received traditional acupuncture—versus “sham” acupuncture—had greater physical functioning, decreased body pain, improved overall health, and improved specific symptoms and effects related to kidney disease. Furthermore, the study found that acupuncture was comfortable for patients, and the majority would recommend it to others. This study adds to the growing body of evidence supporting the integration of traditional Chinese medicine into conventional medicine.
Flag And Cross: UK Adults Only Clean Bathrooms Once A Week, Survey Finds
UK adults tend to give a cursory clean to their bathrooms, with 14 percent admitting they use no cleaning products at all, according to a survey of 2,000 respondents. The research found that 48 percent of people only cleaned their bathrooms when visitors were expected and 46 percent left the task to someone else in the household. A total of 38 percent were satisfied to know that they had removed bathroom germs after cleaning, but just 10 percent actually enjoyed the task. Many of those surveyed despised the residue around toilets and limescale in showers.
The Epoch Times: Joe Rogan Offers Vaccine Scientist $100,000 to Publicly Debate RFK Jr.
Joe Rogan offers vaccine scientist Peter Hotez $100,000 to charity if he debates Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on the topic of vaccines on his podcast. Hotez criticized Rogan for allowing Kennedy's appearance on the show. Kennedy is trailing behind President Joe Biden in recent polls and has been controversial for his claims linking vaccines to childhood autism. Hotez agreed to come on the show for a discussion, and Kennedy responded to Rogan's call for a debate. Kennedy also spoke about taking precautions against assassination as he believes the CIA was involved in the JFK assassination.

Forbes: RB Value Nearly Nonexistent In 2023, But NFL Pendulum Will Eventually Reverse
The NFL has devalued running backs, and the top players in that position, like Dalvin Cook, are struggling to find jobs and see money. A slew of running backs, including Ezekiel Elliott, Kareem Hunt, and Leonard Fournette, are currently without contracts, and franchises are turning their backs on veteran ground gainers. Becoming a free agent is not a good position for running backs, as their value has decreased significantly compared to other positions.
Austin Ekeler of the Los Angeles Chargers is one of the most productive running backs in football, but he is only receiving incentives instead of a huge contract extension. The Chargers gave him extra money for the final season of his four-year deal, and while it's appreciated, it's far less than what other positions would receive. The value of running backs in the NFL has decreased, but eventually, a sharp general manager and capologist will realize that having veteran running backs may be a better way to win games. The pendulum will eventually swing back to the running backs' favor, but it won't happen anytime soon.

The Federalist Papers: Elon Musk Makes Bold New Hire That's Drawing Major Attention
Elon Musk has hired a 14-year-old Bangladeshi-American boy, Kairan Quazi, who graduated from Santa Clara University with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering to join SpaceX’s Starlink team in Washington next month as a software engineer. Quazi had previously interned at Intel Labs as an AI research co-op fellow when he was just 10 years old and had been rejected by 95 companies before being hired by SpaceX, which is part of the belief system for him that young age is unrelated to maturity and ability. However, LinkedIn has now deleted his account from the platform as Quazi does not meet the minimum age requirement.

The Epoch Times: Trolleys Are Back at the Oceanfront, Even as Virginia Beach Backs Other Ride-Share Options
Virginia Beach's iconic blue trolleys have returned for the summer season, but their long-term future is uncertain due to a decline in ridership and a plan to invest nearly $50 million in Atlantic Avenue. City officials are considering whether alternative transportation options, such as minibuses, could replace the trolleys, which cost $2 per ride and have capacity for 38 passengers. The trolleys provide an important service in reducing traffic congestion and maintaining the "panache" of the resort area, but the recently completed Resort Area Mobility Plan recommends exploring different approaches to transportation. A consultant survey found that trolley service is important to visitors, but not to residents.
