The Epoch Times: Barr Says He'd Testify Against Trump in Documents Case if Asked
Former Attorney General Bill Barr has said he would be willing to testify against Donald Trump in relation to Trump's handling of top-secret classified documents, if called by Special Counsel Jack Smith to do so. Barr, who served as Trump's attorney general, has increasingly distanced himself from the former president since the 2020 election, stating that he is "adamantly against" another Trump presidency and that Trump was "responsible in the broad sense" for the Capitol riots. Barr has also rejected Trump's claims of widespread voter fraud and rejected his legal position that he had the right to take classified documents as personal papers.
Barr applauded the government's efforts to retrieve the documents in a respectful manner, saying it was "essential" to the case, but expressed his discomfort at the idea of a former president serving time in prison. The government should not "further derogate from justice" by offering special treatment to Trump, but hold him to the same standards as everyone else, Barr said. Barr also addressed the Republican argument that charges against Trump would be hypocritical after Hillary Clinton was not pursued for her own alleged handling of classified information, stating that restoring the rule of law and equal justice should not be done by offering special treatment to anyone.

The ruling is of great significance in LGBT law.

The Epoch Times: Putin Meets With African Leaders in Russia to Discuss Ukraine Peace Plan, but No Visible Progress
A delegation of African leaders visited Ukraine in a self-styled "peace mission" before travelling to St. Petersburg on Saturday to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, the meeting ended with no visible progress. The peace plan put forward by the African countries, consisting of ten elements, was found to be difficult to implement, and while Putin expressed interest in considering it, there was no correlation with Russia’s main position on the crisis in Ukraine. The mission to Ukraine comes on the heels of other peace initiatives, such as one proposed by China, at a time when fighting between Ukrainian forces and Russian-backed militias has intensified in the east.

Spectator USA: John F. Kennedy’s trip worth remembering
In 1963, JFK went on a European tour while facing economic troubles and racial crisis at home. Despite congressional lack of enthusiasm, he assured a crowd in Cologne that US forces would remain in the continent. In West Berlin, he famously declared "Ich bin ein Berliner" in front of a million people, and went on to have more high-profile moments, although he caused controversy in Ireland by choosing not to address the issue of reunification. JFK's trip also had political significance, as he and UK Prime Minister Harold Macmillan worked on a US-UK nuclear test-ban negotiating position, which resulted in a treaty prohibiting above-ground and underwater tests. Kennedy was assassinated a few months later.

The Epoch Times: California Governor Proposes Rolling Back Access to Police Misconduct Records
California Governor Gavin Newsom's administration has proposed to end the public disclosure of investigations into abusive and corrupt police officers, instead transferring the responsibility to local agencies. The proposal is part of the governor's budget package and has led to strong criticism from criminal justice and press freedom groups who have pushed for disclosure rules since 2021. The law passed in 2021 required a state commission to investigate and publicly release records of decertification cases, which Newsom's administration now hopes to remove. Critics say this will erode public trust and claimed that local police departments frequently resist releasing this information.

Forbes: Without Aaron Judge, New York Yankees Continue To Experience Sagging Offense
The Yankees are struggling in the absence of Aaron Judge, losing eight out of 11 games, and hitting coach Marcus Thames is receiving blame. The quartet of Giancarlo Stanton, Anthony Rizzo, DJ LeMahieu, and Gleyber Torres are not producing enough, with Stanton still rusty since returning from injury, Rizzo struggling after a neck injury, and LeMahieu, Donaldson, and Torres all having a poor month. The Yankees have been batting an average of .192 and a .250 on base-percentage this month; however, Stanton has said that there can be no excuses, and Aaron Boone insists that the team is capable of damage.
