Liberty Nation: The Uprising Podcast: Perverting Our Politics
The Uprising Podcast: Perverting Our Politics
A federal indictment has been brought against President Trump, and on this week's Uprising, we explore his potential responses and electoral outcomes.

American Thinker: While the Deep State focuses on Trump case Judge Aileen Cannon, what about Judge Beryl Howell, who overruled his attorney-client privilege?
While the Deep State focuses on Trump case Judge Aileen Cannon, what about Judge Beryl Howell, who overruled his attorney-client privilege?
A federal judge ruled that prosecutors working on Trump's handling of classified documents case can pierce assertions of attorney-client privilege, suggesting that Trump "may have committed a crime." This ruling arguably denies the former president his rights to a fair trial. Anti-Trump zealots are weaponizing the law to destroy an American patriot, and their success will blow the Constitution into smithereens.

National Review: Biden’s (Iran) Deal That Dare Not Speak Its Name
Biden’s (Iran) Deal That Dare Not Speak Its Name
President Biden is prepared to authorize payments to Iran in exchange for various concessions, bypassing congressional review. The deal would rely on the goodwill of the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and does not address Iran's deadliest proxy, Hezbollah. Biden's aim is to keep the Middle East quiet ahead of the 2024 Election, but his strategy is limited, bereft of accountability, brazenly desperate, and lacks strategic purpose. Biden's incompetence and history of misjudgment make this a sure-to-fail bargain.

The Epoch Times: Firefighters unearth 118-year-old time capsule from fire station demolition—here's what was inside
Firefighters unearth 118-year-old time capsule from fire station demolition—here's what was inside
Ohio firefighters discover a 118-year-old time capsule in the wall of an old fire station being demolished. After permission from the building's owner, they removed a sandstone cornerstone for preservation, and uncovered a soldered-shut 8 x 4 x 4-inch copper box. The contents turned out to be well-preserved historic paperwork, including an invitation to a fire department event in 1878, two rosters from the 1905 fire station, a copy of Merit Systems Rules from the same year, and more.

The Epoch Times: Federal Judge Blocks Part of Indiana's Ban on Gender Transition Procedures
Federal Judge Blocks Part of Indiana's Ban on Gender Transition Procedures
A judge in Indiana has blocked provisions of a bill that banned gender transition procedures for minors, pending a legal challenge. The injunction prevents the enforcement of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormone therapy for minors, but allows the ban on gender reassignment surgery to remain. Plaintiffs claimed that the new law violated federal requirements under the Medicaid Act and the Affordable Care Act, as well as the U.S. Constitution, and the judge acknowledged their likelihood of success in showing that the law would violate their equal protection and free speech rights. The legislation defines gender transition procedures as “any medical or surgical service that seeks to surgically alter or remove healthy physical or anatomical characteristics or features that are typical for the individual’s sex,” and Republican lawmakers sought to enact the ban amid a national push to protect minors from what they called potentially irreparable harm.

National Review: Alvin Bragg Lets Politics Take Over the Daniel Penny Case
Alvin Bragg Lets Politics Take Over the Daniel Penny Case
Former Marine officer Daniel Penny is due to be arraigned on charges of second-degree manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide in connection with the death of Jordan Neely on May 1st. The Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg appears to be pursuing a strategic charging approach by indicting Penny on two counts rather than one, in order to increase the likelihood of winning a conviction. The New York Post reports that the move may also put pressure on Penny to plead guilty to a lesser charge, as criminally negligent homicide carries a potential sentence of just four years’ imprisonment, compared with up to 15 years for second-degree manslaughter. The death of Neely, a dangerous and mentally disturbed felon who was threatening passengers on a train, has resulted in a political and media storm in New York, which has led to the likelihood of Penny facing an unjustified and excessive punishment.

Forbes: By Scoring A Lucrative Deal At Inter Miami, Lionel Messi Is Playing A New Financial Game
By Scoring A Lucrative Deal At Inter Miami, Lionel Messi Is Playing A New Financial Game
Soccer star Lionel Messi signed with Inter Miami, choosing Florida as his destination since it has no state income tax and makes it easy for residents to pass wealth along. Messi's Spanish tax fraud conviction could impact his move to the U.S. since he'll need a visa to work, and the visa application would likely be denied by U.S. immigration law under typical circumstances. His legal team likely already had a plan, including a waiver, in the works if needed, and other visa alternatives like an O-1 visa exist. Despite Messi not playing in the upcoming game, his signing has already generated a lot of buzz for Inter Miami, with over 8 million followers on Instagram, more than any other Major League Soccer team.

Forbes: “Peak Green” In The West: What It Means For The East
“Peak Green” In The West: What It Means For The East
Recent events in both the EU and US suggest that the Green movement may have reached its peak, with setbacks to climate change regulations and growing opposition. Despite the Biden administration's push towards net zero by 2050, Republican states are adopting measures against environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investment strategies by the corporate sector, and large wind and solar projects face opposition in rural areas. In Europe, moderate politicians are showing signs of a "peak green" mood with a call for a "pause" on more climate regulations from Macron and parties opposed to radical climate agendas are now in governing coalitions in countries such as Finland, Sweden, and Italy, as the economic consequences of such policies are starting to become apparent. Developing countries now have an opportunity to establish a new world order based on rapid economic development and better living standards for their citizens.

Forbes: There’s No Place Like A Fairly Taxed Home—Even If It’s A Trailer
There’s No Place Like A Fairly Taxed Home—Even If It’s A Trailer
A retired couple in Pennsylvania, Debbie and Randy Blough, took it upon themselves to challenge inflated real estate tax assessments on mobile homes, which particularly affect low-income families. Chester County has the highest median income in the state, but also includes around 6,000 mobile homes, often providing affordable housing for agricultural and other workers. Pennsylvania's state tax assessment system was found to be applying flawed assessments for mobile homes, regardless of their unique characteristics, and was unjustly burdening low-income families who couldn't afford the high bills. The Bloughs won their 22 appeals in 2018 and by 2022, their work had helped nearly 1,000 Pennsylvania families save an average of $872 a year on their taxes and over $8 million over the coming decade. The nonprofit Lincoln Institute for Land Policy, along with other national organizations, has promoted manufactured housing as a solution to the US's housing affordability crisis, and even the Biden Administration is supporting this as part of its Housing Supply Action Plan.
