The Epoch Times: 'We Know What's at Stake': Manitoba Minibus Drivers Say Safety Paramount for Seniors
15 people were killed and 10 others injured when a handibus on a day trip from a seniors centre to a casino crashed with a semi-trailer truck near Carberry, Manitoba. The bus was carrying 25 men and women between the ages of 58 to 88. Handibuses or minibuses are essential means of travel for seniors in communities across Manitoba, particularly those in wheelchairs or using walkers. The Neepawa District Handi Transit hired many retired people in their 60s to work as drivers because they can relate to their senior passengers. The bus involved in the deadly crash was run by Quality Care Transit, a company licensed by the City of Dauphin. The company extended its sympathies for the crash in a Facebook post on Friday.
