Townhall: Why Special Counsel Jack Smith Is Unlawful
Why Special Counsel Jack Smith Is Unlawful
Special Counsel Jack Smith files charges against Donald Trump in Palm Beach County instead of the District of Columbia, potentially benefiting Trump's defense, as the jury pool is more favorable, and the judge assigned is a Trump appointee. Furthermore, the defense may challenge Smith's legal authority as an unelected and unconfirmed Special Counsel, arguing that only Congress can authorize such an office, and Trump's attorneys could file a motion to dismiss the indictment on these grounds .

Newsbusters: CNN Rules Republicans Are the Enemy of Kids and Climate
CNN Rules Republicans Are the Enemy of Kids and Climate
CNN covered a group of young people suing the state of Montana over climate change. The lawsuit claimed that their constitutional rights were violated due to the state's support of fossil fuels. Despite admitting that the lawsuit would not change anything, CNN portrayed the young people as heroes and villainized Republicans for not banning fossil fuels. The case could set a precedent for anti-Republican and pro-government regulation propaganda. Subway sponsored CNN's coverage.

Judiciary Committee: IRS Agent Used Fake Identity, Spoke 'Aggressively' During Taxpayer Visit
IRS agent used an alias to deceive an Ohio taxpayer into allowing him into her home to obtain sensitive information about a decedent of the estate, leading to extensive inquiries by the House Judiciary Committee and other related bodies, who are seeking all documents and communications on the matter. The incident, described as "bizarre" by the committee chairman, has raised concerns about the agency's use of deception to gain information and comes just a month after a visit to an independent journalist's home was regarded as an attempt to intimidate a witness, leading to further investigations by the Judiciary Committee.

Townhall: New Drug Pricing Legislation Would Kill Small Biotech Firms
New Drug Pricing Legislation Would Kill Small Biotech Firms
Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) has introduced the SMART Prices Act - a bill proposing strict price caps on prescription drugs for seniors. However, this will make it difficult for biotech firms to remain financially stable and continue their research and development. Biotech firms already see an 88% failure rate in research and, as this bill's legislation outlines pricing controls on prescription drugs covered by Medicare, it is predicted this percentage may increase, leaving patients without innovative treatments. Critics of the SMART Prices Act have also noted that the bill would cause a reduction in investment in small-molecule drugs, and congressional leaders could overlook the bill's potential damage to small biotechs who may go out of business as a result of this bill.

The SMART Prices Act proposal has been met with a negative response from biotech research advocates. The legislation would double the number of medications eligible for price controls and significantly reduce the time frame for new drugs to be exempt from price control measures. Such measures can make or break pharmaceutical firms, especially early-stage startups that may only produce one or two experimental drugs. Lawmakers are yet to address how the SMART Prices Act could affect these companies, which are crucial for the discovery and distribution of life-saving treatments. The bill's opponents believe that such measures will discourage investors from funding drug development projects, leaving small biotech companies unable to continue their work in this field.

Townhall: Why Are Churches Caving to Political and Cultural Ideologies?
Why Are Churches Caving to Political and Cultural Ideologies?
Churches are often encouraged to change with the times, but when secular influences taint biblical interpretation, it can be dangerous. Examples include the United Methodist Church's politics of sexuality and the World Council of Churches' call for "climate justice." The change isn't new—German churches changed their doctrine to align with the emerging Nazi party and Soviet Russia became militantly atheist. Today, American leftists want the Bible classified as hate speech, and the FBI suggests surveilling churches for speaking Latin. Bad things can happen to churches that push back against the state.

Churches that secularize their doctrine to please the state or culture are corrupting faith. Christians and Jews are meant to fear God, not government, but churches must protect themselves from government abuse. In America, the FBI suggested surveillance of Roman Catholic churches for speaking Latin, and American leftists want the Bible classified as hate speech. While religious persecution is unlikely to reach the extremes of outright tyrannies, history warns that bad things can happen to churches that push back against the state.

The Epoch Times: IN-DEPTH: Greatest Risk to a Firefighter's Health is Not Fire
IN-DEPTH: Greatest Risk to a Firefighter's Health is Not Fire
The International Association of Fire Fighters will honor 574 men and women who died in the line of duty at the 2023 Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial ceremony in Colorado Springs. Cancer is the leading cause of line-of-duty deaths in the fire service, with 75% of the names added to the memorial wall in 2022 having died from occupational cancer. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has launched the National Firefighter Registry for Cancer to help firefighters understand the risks they face.

Turnout gear is filled with toxic per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) found to cause cancer. Toxic chemicals from a fire continue to transfer and off-gas from the firefighter's bunker gear and other equipment, and their turnout gear is made from materials containing PFAS. Toxic chemicals are inhaled and absorbed through the skin and can be found in the water, soil, and air. The Fort Worth Fire Department has pushed for decontamination protocols and has recently started a program to provide clean gear on the scene of the fire. However, many cities do not want to spend the money to provide firefighters with a second set of turnout gear.
