Breitbart: Review: ‘Gotham: The Fall and Rise of New York’ Shows Us How to Save a City
Review: ‘Gotham: The Fall and Rise of New York’ Shows Us How to Save a City
The decline of urban areas can be reversed by good policies, according to director Matthew Taylor's documentary, Gotham: The Fall and Rise of New York (, ). The film explores how New York City became a prosperous global capital, following a period of crime and decay in the 1970s. The documentary credits Republican mayorships of Rudy Giuliani and Michael Bloomberg for the city's reform in the 1990s and attributes much of their success to data-driven policies created by the Manhattan Institute. The key was to focus on "quality of life offenses" instead of just responding to violent crime, according to the film.

Gotham offers a hopeful vision of reversing urban decline in America's cities today, which are facing a return to the 1970s-style lawlessness and decay. The documentary demonstrates that the fall and rise of New York City was due to real efforts and real ideas by real people. The film emphasises the importance of finding practical solutions to problems such as crime, drug addiction, homelessness, failing schools, and broken families. The Manhattan Institute's former president Larry Mone says, "if you don't really understand that legacy, you're doomed to watch it fall apart before your very eyes."

The American Spectator: Trump’s Top-Secret Trophies
Trump’s Top-Secret Trophies
Former President Donald Trump faces federal charges for illegally possessing and obstructing justice concerning national security documents. Trump kept the documents for personal trophies, but the Justice Department required their return. He refused to return them and lied to investigators. After a plea of not guilty, the GOP is in concern of the damage he has done to the party and the potential for dividing Republicans into “crazy train” supporters and more standard Republicans. One Colorado Republican stated he wouldn’t support a convicted felon for the White House, but some die-hard Trump supporters continue to stand by him, saying even murder wouldn’t change their loyalty.

Townhall: The War on Fatherhood in Secular America
The War on Fatherhood in Secular America
The collapse of resident fatherhood is fueling widespread loneliness and contributing to a surge of adults leaving Christianity. The absence of genuine Christian fathers in our society is a sad commentary on our national culture which has declared an all-out war on the traditional family. Satan's minions are at work, loading our children onto train cars that will take them to their ultimate death camp destinations. Now is the time for faithful men to stand up and be counted for themselves and their families, adhering to the admonition of the Apostle Paul to be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, and be strong.

Spectator USA: Did Zionists precipitate the exodus of Jews from Arab lands?
Did Zionists precipitate the exodus of Jews from Arab lands?
Avi Shlaim recalls his family's life in Baghdad as prosperous and prestigious members of Iraq’s Jewish minority before they were forced to flee their ancient homeland due to bombings targeting the Jewish population. Shlaim investigates the Baghdad bombings against Jewish targets in 1950 and 1951 to uncover proof of Zionist involvement in the attacks which helped terminate the Jews’ millennial presence in Babylon. He argues that the Eurocentric Zionist movement and Israel together have intensified divisions between Arabs and Jews, Israelis and Palestinians, Hebrew and Arabic, and Judaism and Islam, encouraging seeing each other as fellow human beings.

The American Spectator: The Advent of the Personal Catechism
The Advent of the Personal Catechism
The Catholic Church is facing a dual threat of heresy and schism, with both infiltrating the Church's own ranks. Pope Francis' progressive statements have caused controversy and contributed to a lack of clarity, leading to the development of the Personal Catechism. The Personal Catechism has resulted in both progressive Catholics and traditional Catholics veering dangerously close to heresy and schism. This phenomenon is due to the collapse of moral authority among Church leaders, and the Vatican's failure to provide clarity on issues beyond climate hysteria and open borders immigration.

Heresy is an obstinate denial or doubt of a truth to be believed by divine and Catholic faith, while schism is a rebellion against legitimate authority. Heresy has run rampant under Pope Francis, with priests and prelates endorsing homosexuality, abolishing priestly celibacy, and promoting female ordinations to the priesthood. The Pope's cabal of ambiguous confrères contribute to this chaos, breeding a toxic nightmare. On the other hand, traditionalist Catholics who are sincere, devout, and faithful, are in danger of becoming schismatic due to the suppression of the Tridentine Mass and the lack of clarity from the Vatican on issues of importance. The Personal Catechism will only worsen the confusion among Catholics, who must rely on the Church's 2,000-year tradition for clarity.

The San Francisco World Spirits Competition Just Revealed Its Best Whisky Of 2023
Tomatin 36, a 36-year-old single malt whiskey from the Tomatin distillery in the Scottish Highlands, took home the Best in Show award at the 2023 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Although the distillery does not have a large distribution in the US, those lucky enough to find it can expect to pay a minimum of $1500 USD for the experience.

The Imaginative Conservative: The Jovial Father and Tom Bombadil
The Jovial Father and Tom Bombadil
Tom Bombadil is a kingly figure in Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings," despite being perceived by some as silly or jesting. In fact, his joviality reflects an attribute of kingship, as the word "Jove" is another name for Jupiter, a king in ancient cosmic mythology. Jupiter's character was described as cheerful, festive, yet temperate, tranquil, and magnanimous, and his joviality was a great blessing to those under his oversight. Similarly, a father's joviality is his kingly benediction on his home, blessing his family and reflecting the joviality of God above. Tom is a powerful father figure in the story, appearing both at the beginning and end to guide and bless the hobbits, and representing the happiness that awaits them in the end.

Townhall: Why We Will Lose to China
Why We Will Lose to China
A left-wing billionaire plans to create a diverse NBA team called the Thailand Ladyboys. The team will include ladyboys, CCP members, a transgender man, a black woman, a white woman, a Hispanic woman, a five-year-old mutilated child, a black man, an illegal migrant, an anti-Catholic drag queen nun, and a non-binary homeless person. Despite having no skills, the team will highlight diversity, equity, and inclusion. The author argues that this approach is unrealistic in sports and even more so in government and military affairs, which require merit, ability, and quality.

Townhall: A Quick Bible Study, Vol. 170: What the New Testament Says About Birds
A Quick Bible Study, Vol. 170: What the New Testament Says About Birds
The Bible uses birds as symbols to teach about God's relationship with humanity. At Jesus's baptism, the Holy Trinity is present, with the Holy Spirit represented by a dove. The dove can also symbolize peace, comfort, and fulfillment of promises. Jesus mentions doves and sparrows in teachings about trusting God for our needs and living without fear. The Bible also mentions turtledoves and pigeons in the Presentation of Jesus and the practice of temple sacrifice. Jesus drives out those buying and selling doves in the temple, and predicts Peter's denial with the crow of a rooster.
