Fox News: Top Rhode Island official out over work misconduct claims
David Patten, the state director of capital asset management for Rhode Island, has resigned following allegations of misconduct during a business trip to Philadelphia earlier this year. The accusations include racially and ethnically charged remarks and requests for special treatment. Patten had been on paid leave following the incident, with the state continuing to pay a portion of his health insurance until September 30. Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee called for Patten's resignation, citing his "highly inappropriate conduct". Patten's behavior has been attributed to an acute stress event. An ongoing police investigation has been referred to Rhode Island's legal office.

Breitbart: Texas Gov. Greg Abbott Signs 'Save Women's Sports Act' Limiting Transgender Athletes in College Athletics
Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed a new law placing limits on transgender athletes in Lone Star State colleges. The law, Senate Bill 15, called the "Save Women's Sports Act," will require athletes to play only in categories that correspond to their gender at birth, in an effort to protect the integrity of women's sports in Texas.
The law also prevents schools from retaliating against whistleblowers or those who protest against transgender athletes and allows women to play in the men's category if there is no corresponding women's program at any particular school. Texas filed a lawsuit against the federal government over its abuse of Title IX rules promulgating the radical transgender agenda, specifically against President Biden's rules change that threatens to cut off federal funding to any school that bars transgender athletes from choosing their own categories in which to compete.

Fox News: Black Californians told to have 'broader view on what reparations could be,' not expect cash payments
California's reparations task force is expected to issue a report to the legislature in June after months of negotiations with Black leaders, suggesting that dozens of measures might cost hundreds of billions of dollars. However, state political leaders warn that it could take years for policies to be implemented and direct financial compensation to Black Californians may not happen. California Secretary of State Shirley Weber notes that implementing a reparations policy is no easy task with budget constraints. While some members of the Legislative Black Caucus support monetary reparations, others suggest programs to help Black descendants of slaves access higher education or start a business may be more feasible in the short term.

Breitbart: Breitbart Business Digest: The Recession Will Have to Wait Till Next Year
The US economy is more resilient than expected, with risks to growth resolved and the Fed's willingness to slow down rate hikes likely to extend growth through the year and beyond. Four potential risks - a tightening labor market, banking crisis, debt ceiling debacle, and fuel price increases - have been reduced or eliminated. Gas prices are much lower than projected due to global supply and demand factors, allowing the Fed to back off on interest rate hikes and extend expansion. The debt ceiling crisis was resolved smoothly, averting potential risks to the economy and improving consumer confidence. The banking sector has normalized, with no major bank failures and less concern about deposit withdrawals. With potential recession risks pushed aside, a recession may still be in the cards for next year due to high inflation and anticipated rate hikes.
