Fox News: Dem expert puts KJP, Bates on notice, says officials who keep breaking Hatch Act 'should be gone'
Dem expert puts KJP, Bates on notice, says officials who keep breaking Hatch Act 'should be gone'
Former ethics chief for President George W. Bush, Richard Painter, has said that White House officials continuing to use the "MAGA" slogan against Republicans "should be fired" after the White House persisted in using it following the Office of Special Counsel's determination that it violates the Hatch Act. Painter called for officials to "immediately stop doing it," while claiming "we can't have them flipping the bird at this." White House Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates sent a memo on Wednesday continuing to use the term, despite press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre being told doing so violated the law.

The White House is being accused of violating the Hatch Act by continuing to use the 'MAGA' slogan despite a determination that it violates legislation forbidding government resources being used for campaign activities. Richard Painter, former ethics chief for President George W. Bush, said officials continuing to do so should be fired. The Office of Special Counsel determined earlier this week that Jean-Pierre violated the Hatch Act by using the term "Maga MAGA" to attack Republican policies. Meanwhile, Bates claimed in a memo that the "main economic agenda item" of Republicans is "MAGA tax welfare for the richest Americans and giant corporations."

On the campaign trail, Kennedy has garnered modest support but lags behind President Joe Biden by about 40 percentage points in a recent HarrisX poll. He could, however, win New Hampshire’s Democrat primary given Biden is unlikely to appear on the ballot in that state.

National Review: The Timeless Need for Modesty
The Timeless Need for Modesty
A recent incident involving a transgender influencer's toplessness on the White House lawn at President Biden’s Pride celebration has drawn attention to the virtue of modesty. Modesty encourages privacy and the importance of keeping certain aspects of life private, both online and offline. This helps individuals avoid the consequences that come with publicizing what should be private and allows them to look outward and focus on the beauty of the world around them.

House Committee Approves Bill Requiring Federally Registered Companies Disclose Ultimate Beneficial Owners
The Canadian government has approved a new law designed to fight money laundering and terrorist financing by requiring federally registered companies to disclose their ownership structure. The public registry would list the names and addresses of those with “significant control” over the companies, although its potential impact has been questioned. Critics argued the scheme, which would affect only the small percentage of companies that are federally registered, would be of limited value without taking a broader approach across other provinces. Currently, federally registered companies make up less than 15% of all Canadian incorporations.

How to Tell When Your Roof Needs Replacing
Homeowners tend to overlook the importance of their roof, putting off repairs until damage is significant. Supply chain issues, labor shortages, and pandemic pricing increases have also deterred homeowners from replacing their roof or siding or windows. A roof inspection provides crucial information about a property's value, and many insurance companies require information on the roof before creating a policy. Homeowners must watch for warning signs, such as damage to shingles, leaning branches, or clogged gutters. It's important to contact multiple contractors and think long-term when choosing someone to replace a roof.
