Fox News: Federal authorities arrest 6 in bust of Guatemalan family smuggling ring
Six members of the Lopez Crime Family have been arrested by federal authorities for their alleged role in a human smuggling ring that brought migrants from Guatemala to the US. The family is thought to operate across Mexico, Guatemala and the US, using directed electronic money transfers and stash houses for transport. Each accused member faces up to ten years in prison if convicted.

Richmond Fed president Barkin has said he is comfortable with further rate rises if economic data does not show waning demand feeding through to slower inflation. The Fed held the policy interest rate at 5% to 5.25% this week, with policymakers predicting the rate may need to rise another half-point by the year end. Barkin said: "I am still looking to be convinced of the plausible story that slowing demand returns inflation relatively quickly", adding that if data doesn't support it "I'm comfortable doing more". He said that backing off too soon created worse potential problems, citing the 1970s, adding that he believed US demand was softening but not yet weak.
