Fox News: 'The View' wants Constitutional amendment to bar Trump from presidency: 'Cannot be in jail and be president'
'The View' wants Constitutional amendment to bar Trump from presidency: 'Cannot be in jail and be president'
"The View" co-hosts discussed the need for a Constitutional amendment to prevent Donald Trump from becoming president while in prison. Co-host Whoopi Goldberg said that it was starting to "freak me out" that Trump, who has been charged with federal crimes, is still the GOP frontrunner for president in 2024. Recent polling has shown that the indictment has done little to change Trump’s favorability among GOP voters, leading to concerns among the co-hosts. Goldberg suggested that an amendment was needed to prevent such a situation from happening in the future.

Right-Wingers Rally Around Daniel Penny After Indictment—In Latest War On ‘Woke’ Criminal Justice System
The grand jury's decision to indict Daniel Penny, who was filmed holding Jordan Neely in a fatal chokehold on a New York City subway last month, has sparked a partisan debate. Penny's lawyer has claimed he was protecting other passengers from Neely's "aggressive threats." Following Penny's indictment, right-wing pundits have claimed that the criminal justice system has been hijacked by the left, and some have suggested that he was indicted simply because he is white. Former President Trump has stated that Penny was acting in self-defense.

Meanwhile, some Democrats, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, have called for Penny's arrest and declared Neely was "murdered" due to a lack of resources available to the homeless and mentally ill. Neely, who performed on the subway as a Michael Jackson impersonator, struggled with mental health issues and had been arrested 42 times. His attorneys claimed he was begging for help and food before Penny restrained him. Penny, a former Marine, is due back in court on July 17.

Bill de Blasio ordered to pay $475K for misusing NYC taxpayer money during failed presidential run
Former NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio was fined almost $475,000 for misusing city resources during his 2020 presidential campaign. The Conflicts of Interest Board penalized de Blasio for having the city pay for his NYPD security detail's travel expenses to and from campaign events in 2019, ordering him to reimburse the city nearly $320,000 and a separate $155,000 fine. The COIB claims that the NYPD security detail incurred $319,794.20 during 31 presidential campaign-related trips. De Blasio's lawyers argued that the COIB's ruling violated the Constitution.

Fox News: Biden admin shields 330,000 immigrants from deportation; top Dem says it's not enough
Biden admin shields 330,000 immigrants from deportation; top Dem says it's not enough
The Biden administration extended protection from deportations to over 330,000 immigrants, including those who are here illegally or at risk of overstaying their visa, from El Salvador, Honduras, Nepal, and Nicaragua. The Department of Homeland Security rescinded a move by the Trump administration to end the temporary protected status (TPS) for these nationals, instead extending the protections for an additional 18 months based on armed ongoing conflict, environmental disasters, or "extraordinary and temporary conditions."

TPS authority allows the Department of Homeland Security to protect nationals of designated countries living in the US from potential deportation, allows them to apply for work permits, and gives them the freedom to travel. There are currently 16 countries designated for TPS, many of them either designated or extended by the Biden administration. However, some top administration officials opposed expanding TPS, citing concerns about it potentially leading to an increase in illegal immigration at the southern border, while some Democratic Senators criticized the DHS for not including Guatemala and Venezuela in the extension.

20 Republicans Save Schiff From Censure Over Russia Collusion Hoax, Here Are Their Names
Republican Representative Anna Paulina Luna of Florida's proposal to censure and fine Democratic Representative Adam Schiff for his role in the Russia collusion hoax was ultimately tabled in a contentious 225-196-7 vote, with 20 Republicans siding with Democrats to table the motion. The proposal sought to impose a $16 million fine, representing half the cost of the Robert Mueller probe, which found no evidence of collusion between the 2016 Trump campaign and Russia, on Schiff. Schiff expressed surprise at the vote, while Luna took to Twitter to emphasize her commitment to pursuing Schiff's censure.

Fox News: Wedding barn regulations, liquor law overhaul win bipartisan support in Wisconsin Legislature
Wedding barn regulations, liquor law overhaul win bipartisan support in Wisconsin Legislature
Wisconsin's state liquor laws are to be overhauled. The law will govern the licensing, producing, selling and distribution of beer, wine and liquor in the state. The bill seeks to regulate wedding barns that operate in a legal gray area and require them to obtain a Class B liquor license. Under the new bill, wedding barns that host more than six events a year would be required to have a license to legally serve alcohol. The regulation proposal passed committee with bipartisan support, however, business owners worry proposed changes would force them to shut down. The three-tier alcohol industry system made up of alcohol suppliers, distributors and retailers, designed to prevent monopolies has also been eyed for changes for years in Wisconsin.

The Epoch Times: California Government Works to Nip Invasive Nutria Infestation in the Bud
California Government Works to Nip Invasive Nutria Infestation in the Bud
California's Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has been working to eradicate the invasive species of nutria since they were first observed in 2017. Due to trapping efforts, nutria population in California has been down to 135 in 2023 from a peak of 1,239 in 2020. Although eradication efforts continue, as the nutria population decreases, the remaining individuals tend to move across the landscape, causing more damage to plant life in wetlands, lakes, and more. Nutria have been found in over 20 states and are known to cause permanent damage to marshes and other wetlands. They are also considered to be a major hurdle for the ecosystems in which they reside.

Fox Corp. Encourages Employees To Support Radical LGBTQ Organizations, Uses ‘Woke AI’ To Track Commitment To DEI, Matt Walsh Reveals
Internal documents obtained by conservative commentator Matt Walsh reveal that Fox Corp. is promoting radical LGBTQ organizations and using "woke AI" to track employee commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles. The documents show that Fox encourages employees to read explicit LGBTQ books, support groups like the Trevor Project and the Ali Forney Center, and engage in activities that promote DEI. The media company also praised the Los Angeles LGBT Center, which posted a video of a mother surprising her trans daughter with their first doses of hormones. These revelations have sparked concerns about Fox's embrace of leftist ideas and its commitment to conservative values.

The Corner: Ten Things That Caught My Eye: Rescuing Ukrainian Children from Russia, On Impatience, and More
2. Thousands of Ukrainian children have been forcibly transferred from Ukraine to Russia or Russian-occupied territories. Organizations such as Save Ukraine and Ukraine’s Ombudsman’s Office have managed to rescue just a fraction of them. Russia acknowledges transferring children, arguing it is saving them from the horrors of war or facilitating adoption or fostering of orphans. OSCE has documented nonconsensual evacuations it says amount to war crimes and has issued arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and his commissioner for children’s rights; however, Russia has not actively promoted the return of Ukrainian children.

6. A woman has been arrested and charged with vandalizing St. Timothy Catholic Church in Miami in an attack that police say was motivated by religious prejudice. She spray-painted offensive words on the church’s wall, sign, and columns and desecrated an altar.

China ETFs Climb On Hopes Of Better US Relations As State Department Confirms Blinken's Beijing Visit
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's diplomatic trip to China, rescheduled from February due to a diplomatic rift involving a Chinese surveillance balloon appearing over the US, will take place from 25 July. The trip comes amid rising tensions between the US and China, focused in part on the claimed sovereignty of Taiwan and the value both nations place on the semiconductor industry. President Joe Biden has called for the countries to "decouple" their economies, but China remains the US's largest trading partner. Blinken is set to meet China's Foreign Minister Qin Gang to discuss "bilateral issues of concern, global and regional matters, and potential cooperation on shared transnational challenges".

CCP Propaganda Seeks to Undermine European Unity, Experts Say
China is attempting to divide Europe and create distrust in international organizations, according to testimony received by a US government agency. Communist leadership now considers a fragmented Europe to be among its core interests, as it is viewed as a threat to Chinese interests. Efforts include encouraging European nations to break away from working with the United States against China. The CCP is adapting its international propaganda to cause unrest within the EU, with propaganda outlets targeting fringe political groups and candidates on both extreme left and right. European leaders are recalibrating their relationship with China due to the regime’s ongoing support for Russia and its war of conquest in Ukraine.

Forbes: A’s Look All But Certain To Move To Las Vegas With Funding Bill Passed
A’s Look All But Certain To Move To Las Vegas With Funding Bill Passed
Nevada legislators approved funding for a $1.5 billion retractable-roof ballpark in Las Vegas for MLB’s Athletics. This all but ensures the team will be relocating from Oakland after over 55 years.

The $380 million in funding is from transferable tax credits and bonds, which will be paid back through a special tax district around the ballpark, minimum 81 dates played, additional events such as concerts, and a charter personal seat license program. Attendance projections have been made, but it seems impossible to meet given the market size and competition. The A's will become just the second team to relocate in 55 years. The financial obligation to Nevada taxpayers is risky and will increase, coupled with the fact that the public will own the ballpark, and the A's will only lease it.

Fox News: Massachusetts Gov. Healey recommends 7 pardons halfway through first year in office
Massachusetts Gov. Healey recommends 7 pardons halfway through first year in office
MA Governor Healey recommends pardons for seven individuals who were convicted of crimes years ago, when they were young, for crimes ranging from drug possession to assault to breaking and entering, which have prevented them from fully moving on with their lives, saying justice delayed is justice denied. She believes deeply in the importance of making justice more fair and equitable for current residents. The pardons must be approved by the eight-member Governor's Council.

MA Gov. Healey is working to revise clemency guidelines and encouraging 'softening the harshest edges' of the criminal justice system. In one case of a recommended pardon, Glendon King's conviction of drug charges occurred in 1992 when he was 30 years old and had already served in the US Army and Army National Guard, and later joined the Boston Fire Department. Terrance Williams was convicted of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in 1984 after he got into an altercation at age 15 with a friend. They have both worked for many decades without incident but were blocked from promotions or job opportunities given their criminal records.

He had requested an absolute or conditional release to be closer to his family in Calgary and integrate back into society, but the court deemed him still a risk to public safety. His case will be reviewed annually to determine if he can transition back to his community while maintaining public safety.
