Red State: Popcorn Time: Texas Gov. Greg Abbott Drops off First Busload of Illegal Aliens in Los Angeles
Texas Governor Greg Abbott has sent a busload of illegal immigrants to downtown Los Angeles. The move was in response to California's stance as a sanctuary for illegal aliens and its provision of state benefits. The Texas governor contends that California needs to bear some of the burden of the Biden Border Crisis and will continue to send transports to other liberal cities. L.A Mayor Karen Bass called the transfer a "political stunt." Newsom has yet to comment.
The Economist: KAL’s cartoon | Jun 17th 2023 Edition
KAL's cartoon depicts an overcrowded boat with the word "Illegals" written on it with people sitting on top of each other. A man on a yacht looks on, saying "They'll never know true luxury like I do."

The Blaze: McCarthy confronts reporters' bias by asking the questions they refuse to ask Biden: 'Has anyone answered that question?'
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy questions the media for failing to address President Joe Biden's document scandal. Biden reportedly kept classified documents outside of a sensitive compartmented information facility during his Senate days, and questions remain about why he had these documents. McCarthy argues that many of the alleged facts in the Trump indictment could be applied to Biden as well, and calls for equality and fairness in questioning.
Daily Wire: Wisconsin School District Facing Civil Rights Complaint After Allegedly Allowing Male To Shower Alongside Teen Girls
Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty (WILL) files complaint against Sun Prairie Area School District alleging that a transgender male student, who had not medically transitioned to female, showered next to and exposed himself to four female students aged 14, violating the Title IX policy which prohibits sex and gender discrimination. The complaint demands prompt investigation and remedial action by the Department of Education Office of Civil Rights. WILL also alleges that the district has ignored its inquiry into the locker room policies and handling of the incident, and demanded payment for the Freedom of Information request.
WILL's complaint argues that the policy is harmful to all female students and risks their safety and privacy. While the Biden administration has proposed expanding Title IX sports protections to gender identity, it has also expressed support for separate showers for boys and girls, according to Miguel Cardona, the Education Secretary, who stated his belief in "[making] sure that boys and girls use different showers" during a recent hearing. WILL's complaint reflects a growing tension between transgender rights advocates and opponents regarding federal policies that balance those rights against other competing interests, such as privacy, safety, liberty and free speech.
PJ Media: Biden Laughs Off Question About Recordings of Him Accepting Bribes
Multiple recordings allegedly show Joe Biden accepting a $5 million bribe from Burisma co-founder, Mykola Zlochevsky, while he was vice president, according to Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa). The FBI reportedly tried to hide the recordings, but questions about them have resurfaced, causing White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre to refer to them as "malarkey". Biden was confronted by a New York Post reporter, but laughed it off without comment.
The Epoch Times: Democrats Push Bill to Regulate Supreme Court
Democrats are pushing for a code of conduct that requires Supreme Court justices to step down when they have a financial connection with someone in court. The Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency Act of 2023 has been presented to a subcommittee of the Senate Judiciary Committee. If the code is not adopted, Congress will impose it. Legal experts dispute that the wealthy Republican donor Harlan Crow's reported gifts of luxurious vacations, tuition support and a property purchase for Justice Clarence Thomas constitutes corruption, but Democrats disagree. The proposed code would force ethics disclosures and clarity on recusals.
Red State: ‘Largely Irrelevant’: Byron Donalds Brings the Fire After Hillary Clinton Insults Trump Supporters
Hillary Clinton called Donald Trump's supporters a "cult" during an interview with "Pod Save America," and expressed excitement over his recent indictment. Rep. Byron Donalds responded by calling Clinton irrelevant and reminding her of her own scandals and lies. Clinton had also tweeted that Florida under Ron DeSantis wasn't safe for people of color, LGBTQ+ people, or multi-billion dollar corporations, prompting fact-checking and criticism. Donalds emphasized the double standards and two-tiered system of justice in America.
The New American: Congress Considers Conditions on the Government's License to Steal - The New American
The FAIR Act, a bipartisan-supported legislation, aims to curb civil asset forfeiture, a system where police can confiscate property without charging or convicting the owner. The bill would eliminate the perverse financial incentive for agencies to confiscate first and ask questions later, assigning forfeiture proceeds to the general fund. It would also eliminate the equitable sharing program that allows local agencies to keep up to 80% of the revenue from forfeitures and requires that federal courts approve forfeitures. The bill raises the burden of proof to "clear and convincing evidence" and enhances protections for innocent owners, but still allows seizures based on "probable cause."
Fox News: AOC, Jayapal walk away from question about topless trans activists at White House
Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Pramila Jayapal declined to comment on the transgender activists who went topless at the White House. Republicans, including Rep. Jim Banks, were more vocal about the incident, calling it disgusting and disrespectful to American values. Male-to-female transgender activist Rose Montoya posted a video exposing her breasts alongside other transgender activists at the White House's Pride Month event that had children in attendance. Montoya and the other activists have been banned from future events. The video received widespread backlash on social media. +
Daily Wire: How Democrat Party Infighting Could Hand RFK Jr. The First Two ’24 Primary Contests Over Biden
Democratic Party infighting over primary scheduling could see Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a long-shot candidate, pull off a surprising upset in the 2024 US presidential race. Some Democrats in Iowa and New Hampshire are angry with party insiders over a decision to make South Carolina the first primary state, lowering their traditional prominence and potentially turning voters towards RFK Jr.
PJ Media: The Mainstream Media Has Declared War on Opposing Views — Here's How to Fight Back
Conservatives have long complained about media bias, and NBC reporter Ben Collins, who covers "disinformation, extremism and the internet," recently confirmed that the mainstream media is at war with those who don't conform to the left's narrative. Collins received a Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Television Political Journalism and wrote an essay about combating disinformation. However, he uses melodramatic language and calls those who disagree with the left's agenda "manipulators" and purveyors of propaganda. Collins is part of the left-wing media machine that has declared war on anyone who doesn't embrace their ideology.
Fox News: Republicans aim to close food stamps 'loophole' costing taxpayers billions
House Republicans are introducing the No Welfare for the Wealthy Act, which aims to close a loophole in federal food assistance programs. The bill would establish asset and income thresholds for Americans to qualify for programs such as TANF and SNAP, and end broad-based categorical eligibility, which allows Americans whose wealth is higher than the federal boundaries for these programs to still receive food assistance. The loophole currently allows five million people to receive federal food benefits costing American taxpayers nearly $7 billion per year.
BBCE is currently active in 41 states plus Washington, DC. Because these states receive federal funding for their food assistance programs through block grants, they can use that money to disseminate information about those programs through pamphlets and hotline numbers, which qualifies as a "benefit." This bypasses federal guidelines on assets and allows those "beneficiaries" to be enrolled in the food stamp program. The bill hopes to get Democrats on board as well and is co-sponsored by House Freedom Caucus Chair Scott Perry, R-Pa., Republican Study Committee Chair Kevin Hern, R-Okla., and Reps. Keith Self of Texas and Josh Brecheen of Oklahoma.
National Review: How to Read the Trump Boxes Indictment
The recent federal indictment of Donald Trump for retaining classified documents demands a serious analysis, rather than retreating to partisan bias. Despite the skepticism associated with this indictment, there is a high legal standard that serves as evidence against Trump’s involvement in retaining those documents. However, the actions of the Biden administration and the DOJ’s track record for credibility have damaged their credibility, leaving room for public skepticism. Additionally, some allegations made in this indictment may be unprovable due to the jury’s inability to see the contents of the documents in question.

Fox News: Supreme Court upholds law designed to keep Native American children connected to Native families
The Supreme Court has upheld the Indian Child Welfare Act, which aims to keep Native American children connected to Native American families in custody and adoption proceedings, rejecting challenges from several states and White families seeking to permanently adopt Native children. The law is meant to protect Native American rights in state child custody proceedings and has long been championed by tribal leaders as a means of preserving their families and culture. The dispute is a clash of tribal sovereignty, states' rights and racial discrimination claims.
Newsbusters: CNN On Topless White House Trans Activist: The 'Oppressed Have To Be Perfect 24/7'
CNN panel equivocates over appropriateness of transgender activist going topless at the White House as an "act of joy" for the trans community. Host and panelists agree it was inappropriate but lament that it distracts from the larger issue of the war on trans people in the US. Republicans, including 2022 New York GOP Senate candidate Joe Pinion, express concerns about what is being presented to children while pollster Lee Carter notes that the situation seemed celebratory, more like a house party in the Hamptons than at the White House. The panel criticizes the idea that oppressed individuals must be perfect at all times.
The Economist: American states are bailing out public transport
American states are bailing out public transport to prevent fare rises and service cuts. California's proposal to cut $2bn in spending from public transport sparked protests in San Francisco. However, a deal was worked out by the state legislature that would provide roughly $1.1bn per year raised from the state's emission's cap-and-trade scheme. Other states such as New York and Minnesota have also introduced new funding methods for their transport systems. Despite lower ridership due to COVID-19, good public transport is needed in America's cities more than ever.
Fox News: De Blasio shares regrets over groundhog death in new interview: 'Don't make me hold a f—ing groundhog'
Former NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio expressed regret over the groundhog-dropping incident during a recent interview with New York Magazine. The groundhog, named Charlotte, died from internal injuries after de Blasio dropped her during the 2014 Groundhog Day celebration, and the Staten Island Zoo allegedly attempted to cover up the animal's death. De Blasio also addressed criticism over his handling of Black Lives Matter protests, defending his decisions and citing the need to address both police violence and violence against police. He also commented on the exodus of "talent" from cities like San Francisco and NYC to places like Miami and Austin, but predicted that people would leave Florida due to Gov. Ron DeSantis's policies.
Forbes: Don’t Let Pilots Fly After Age 65, Flight Crew Unions Urge Congress
Leading airline unions are opposing a clause in the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) reauthorisation bill that would allow commercial pilots to work beyond age 65, increasing costs and damaging safety. Labour unions, including the Allied Pilots Association, the Air Line Pilots Association, and the Association of Flight Attendants represent more than 139,000 workers and have stated that more than a decade of unprecedented safety could be compromised by allowing an unstudied and untested change to pilot working conditions. The CEO of the Coalition of Airline Pilots Associations, Captain Lee Collins, has stated that medical evidence indicates the FAA should revisit its policy on age rather than increase it.
The Epoch Times: The War on Liberal Values and Human Equality
Muslim reformer and parental rights advocate, Asra Nomani, discusses the fight for classical liberal values in America on “American Thought Leaders”. Nomani, the author of “Woke Army: The Red-Green Alliance That Is Destroying America’s Freedom”, explains the unholy alliance between Islamists and leftists, manifested as socialists, communists, and even Antifa, undermining classical liberal values and freedoms. She also describes a campaign of character assassination, which she has experienced, and warns of soft power being used to weaken a nation and its people. The woke army is opposed to parental rights, but its identity politics ideology is also on a collision course with itself, which provides an opportunity to isolate parts of it.
Townhall: America: Intentions and Results, Part Three
The author's sister represents a major American disease of believing whatever mainstream media sources report without questioning their credibility. Such ignorance endangers freedom and makes people vulnerable to leftist philosophies that destroy lives. Leftism thrives in populations that are ignorant or apathetic about their country's two greatest problems: political freedom and moral restraints. If people cease to understand their history and heritage, they become easily persuaded and manipulated. The American education system is essential to the country's restoration to keep ignorance from becoming the foundation of tyranny.
PJ Media: Detroit-Area City Bans Pride Flag From Public Property
The all-Muslim city council of Hamtramck, Michigan voted unanimously not to fly the Pride flag on public property. Some members said it clashes with the beliefs of some members of their faith while others say it’s simply a question of keeping government property neutral. Private residents and businesses are free to fly the flag. The overt symbolism of flying a Pride flag from city hall or any other flagpole on public property promotes division, not unity.

The Epoch Times: Turkey Won't Back Swedish NATO Bid Unless It Stops Anti-Turkish Protests: Erdogan
Sweden's NATO membership bid will be negatively impacted if it fails to prevent anti-Turkey protests on its soil. Turkish President Erdogan was clear on the issue, saying that Turkey could not approach the Swedish bid positively while "terrorists" were protesting in Stockholm. This comes as officials from Turkey, Sweden, Finland, and NATO met to try to find a way through Turkish objections hindering Sweden's NATO membership bid. Ankara has accused Stockholm of harboring members of Kurdish extremist groups it considers terrorists. Erdogan's comments highlight the potential impact of political tensions on international alliances.
Fox News: Republicans demand answers after top official backs out of hearing on China ahead of Blinken trip
A House subcommittee hearing, where Assistant Secretary of State Daniel Kritenbrink was set to testify, has been cancelled. Kritenbrink has been criticized by Republicans after his trip to China on the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre. The cancellation triggered accusations of avoiding questions about recent US-China relations prior to Secretary of State Blinken's trip to China. The Biden administration has been accused of displaying weakness and making concessions to China. Young Kim, Chair of House Foreign Affairs, has demanded that Kritenbrink answer questions about US engagement with China.

Forbes: 2023 Media Layoffs: Bell Canada Enterprises Cuts 1,300 Employees
Major media companies have been plagued by a wave of layoffs in 2023, with Bell Canada Enterprises announcing a 3% reduction in its workforce, along with the closure or sale of nine radio stations, and other companies like Southern California Public Radio, Bustle Digital Group, and The Athletic also cutting staff. The pandemic-induced financial climate has caused many organisations to shift away from traditional print media towards online content, though even some digital media companies like Dot.LA have been affected, with the company's editorial staff being laid off in favour of a tech spotlight newsletter. Latest figures show that Disney's onsite vaccination campaign is slowing down the amount of COVID-19 cases among employees.
Forbes: Bitcoin Drops To 3-Month Low Following Fed Rate Decision
Bitcoin's price fell below $25,000 for the first time since March as the Federal Reserve announced it would pause interest rate hikes this month but may renew them later this year, potentially reaching 5.6%. Bitcoin took a 3% dive Wednesday, following which other cryptocurrencies also experienced significant declines. Two major currencies, Binance and Coinbase, are currently facing lawsuits from the Securities and Exchange Commission. Binance has suspended U.S. dollar deposits while Coinbase stock dropped 3%. The decline is similar to the one that happened in mid-March, when bitcoin dipped to $20,100 due to a recent interest rate hike and the collapse of Silvergate Bank, a crypto-focused lender.

The Right Scoop: Woke Space Force LT Gen admits she WON’T hire someone because of “anti-LGBTQ” state laws
LTG Deanna Burt, Chief Operations Officer for the US Space Force, admitted at a recent pride event at the Department of Defense that her hiring policies are biased against states that have passed laws protecting minors from transgender hormone therapies and surgeries. She believes that if a candidate, even if less qualified, feels unsafe being themselves or if their family could be denied critical healthcare due to the laws in their state, she is compelled to consider a different candidate. The American Military Project Director at The Claremont Institute called this rhetoric from the radical gender ideology playbook. Senator Tuberville is currently holding up all DOD nominees from being confirmed, including LTG Burt, who has been confirmed three times by the US Senate.

The Epoch Times: Shawn Whatley: How Danielle Smith Could Transform Health Care
Danielle Smith’s United Conservative Party won re-election in Alberta recently. Many conservatives advocate out-of-pocket payments as conservative health-care policy, but Smith removed this from her campaign table before the election and signed a 10-year health-care agreement with the federal government. The Canada Health Act bans out-of-pocket payments for insured people, and the accessibility principle means that provincial government should manage payment for services, not manage the services themselves. Smith has the opportunity to change how we manage health care; it could ask for too much, but refocusing on good governance could create the chance for Conservative governments to be different by getting government out of management .

They claim Cosby drugged and assaulted them individually between 1979 and 1992 in various locations including hotels and homes. Cosby has been accused of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and rape by over 60 women. He has denied all allegations and was the first celebrity to be tried and convicted in the era before having his conviction overturned earlier this year. One of the lawsuit's plaintiffs had previously testified in Congress in 2018 in support of removing the statute of limitations for adult victims of sexual assault in Nevada.

The Epoch Times: MP Warns Sporting Regulators Fear Being Cancelled For Banning Trans Athletes
UK sporting regulators fear legal action and accusations of transphobia if they ban transgender athletes from female sports, according to Conservative MP Tim Loughton. He argues that defining biological sex in law is necessary to ensure that women and girls are not disadvantaged in sports competitions. Loughton supports an amendment to the Equality Act 2010 to make sex refer to biological sex and claims that “inclusive” measures mean women and girls are excluded from their own competition. Labour MP Nadia Whittome also weighed in on the debate, regretting that instead of discussing the “very real issues trans people face, like access to healthcare,” MPs were instead forced to defend their basic rights.

Necropsies on eight of the whales indicate the animals were healthy and may have swum to their deaths because they were unaware of where they were going. Although it is not uncommon for this species to end up ashore, the remaining whales were carefully herded back out into the ocean to ensure they do not experience the same fate.
