Blinken to travel to China after foreign minister tells him to 'show respect' in phone call
Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit China this weekend, despite a tense phone call where the Chinese foreign minister told the U.S. to "stop interfering" in its affairs. Blinken is the highest-level Biden official to travel to China after the visit was postponed due to a Chinese spycraft flying over the U.S. tensions remain high between the two nations on various global issues, ranging from trade agreements to the sovereignty of Taiwan.

During the phone call, the Chinese foreign minister urged Blinken to "show respect, stop interfering in China's internal affairs, and stop harming China's sovereignty, security, and development interests in the name of competition." Meanwhile, a bipartisan effort in the Senate may ban China and other hostile countries from manufacturing any American taxpayer-funded technologies to stop taxpayer-funded technologies from being licensed to foreign companies and manufactured in countries like China.

Vance Vows to Slow DOJ Nominee Process Until Garland 'Actually Does His Job the Right Way'
Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) plans to request holds on upcoming judicial nominees, slowing down their confirmation process. Vance made the announcement in a video message, citing his concern that Attorney General Merrick Garland would use his authority to harass political opponents. Vance's hold is expected to force Senate votes to confirm Justice Department nominees, creating a backlog for the Biden administration. The move has garnered support from some Trump allies, but has also been criticized by Judiciary Committee chairman Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL).

CNN, MSNBC refuse to air 'potentially dangerous' Trump speech to supporters
CNN and MSNBC refused to air former President Trump's speech to supporters after pleading not guilty to 37 federal felony counts. CNN anchor Jake Tapper warned that his remarks could be "dangerous" to air live and rebuked the network's decision to show him celebrating with supporters. MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow said the network would not broadcast Trump's "litany of lies and false accusations." CNN's decision comes after CEO Chris Licht's firing, while Trump accused the Biden administration of election interference. Despite criminal charges, Trump remains the current 2024 GOP front-runner.

Ex-U.S. Prosecutor Andrew McCarthy Explains Why Trump’s Presidential Records Act Defense May Not Work
Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew C. McCarthy disputed claims that Trump was allowed to keep sensitive documents allegedly hoarded down at Mar-a-Lago. McCarthy explained that the information stored there doesn't count as personal records and agency reports aren't directed at the Presidential Records Act. What Trump is accused of pertains to the Espionage Act, where government officials who aren't legally allowed to retain national security information hold it in unauthorized circumstances, and willfully retain it after a government demand to return it.

Jake Tapper Melts Down Watching Trump Visiting Cuban Restaurant, Demands Control Room Shut Off Feed
Former President Donald Trump was arrested and arraigned on 37 trumped-up felonies in a federal courthouse in Miami, but afterwards confidently mingled at a popular restaurant, treating everyone to a meal. He was greeted by excited supporters who prayed with him. CNN anchor Jake Tapper was so disconcerted he openly demanded the live feed be censored in real time, as many defendants would have laid low under similar circumstances. Trump’s post-indictment trip was a powerful statement, going out among the people was a show of strength, the act of a man who knows he’s being persecuted for political reasons and expects to be exonerated.

J.K. Rowling Rips Johns Hopkins University for Labelling Lesbians as ‘A Non-Man Attracted to Non-Men’
Author J.K. Rowling criticized John Hopkins University for including non-binary people in its definition of "lesbian" in its LGBTQI+ guide. Rowling stated on social media that a "non-man" (formerly known as woman) is "a being definable only by reference to the male." This is the second time this year Rowling has voiced her critique of the transgender movement in the West. She has received death threats and her family home has been doxed by leftist activists. The Trevor Project, which Daniel Radcliffe contributes to, disagreed with Rowling's critique.

The Epoch Times: Bud Light Sales Slump Deepens as Fallout From Transgender Controversy Continues
Bud Light Sales Slump Deepens as Fallout From Transgender Controversy Continues
Bud Light's sales decreased by 24.4% in June following a promotional campaign featuring transgender influencer, Dylan Mulvaney. The brand's sales reportedly fell shortly after Mulvaney and Bud Light collaborated on a personalized can featuring Mulvaney's face. Boycott calls from conservative figures soon followed, accusing the brand of promoting a leftist agenda. The CEO of Anheuser-Busch, Michel Doukeris, claimed that the boycott was driven by misinformation and confusion and that Mulvaney's involvement wasn't part of an official marketing campaign.

Kellogg's has also faced boycott calls after Dylan Mulvaney was photographed with the brand's promotional character, Tony the Tiger, at an awards ceremony. Mulvaney shared a video and posed for pictures with the mascot at the Tony Awards. Many reactions were critical, with some opposing corporations' left-wing agendas. A Kellogg's spokesperson suggested that Tony the Tiger's presence at the awards ceremony was happenstance and that he posed with many guests, some of whom were lifelong Frosted Flakes fans.

Foreign Policy: Drones Aren’t the Sahel’s Silver Bullet
Drones Aren’t the Sahel’s Silver Bullet
The Sahel region in West Africa, plagued by jihadi violence and one of the world's worst humanitarian crises, is turning to drones to combat rebels and regain control. Burkina Faso became the third country in the region to acquire a Turkish Bayraktar TB2 drone, praised for its reconnaissance capabilities and low cost. However, despite their precision-guided technology, drones have led to human rights abuses and civilian deaths, and they may bolster rather than defeat rebel groups. Drones may also end up in the hands of jihadis in the Sahel if accountability mechanisms for responsible drone use are not established.

Binance.US Says SEC's Temporary Restraining Order Would Destroy the Company
The US SEC's move to freeze the assets of Binance.US would end its crypto business, according to Binance. The regulator filed a temporary restraining order on 12 June, aiming to prevent anyone at the company from accessing them until it can be proved that they were not involved in allegedly running unregistered securities exchanges. They have been accused of trying to evade these laws and diverting funds into entities owned by Zhao. Binance said that the SEC's proposals bear no relation to the supposed offences.

Fox News: GOP-controlled House taking up legislation to protect gas stoves from government regulators
GOP-controlled House taking up legislation to protect gas stoves from government regulators
The Republican-controlled House is taking up legislation to protect gas stoves from government regulations, with one bill prohibiting federal funds for stovetop regulation and another blocking a rule for energy efficiency standards. House conservatives postponed approval in retaliation for Speaker Kevin McCarthy's leadership on a measure to raise the debt ceiling. The White House opposes both bills, but they are not expected to advance in the Democratic-controlled Senate. San Francisco, Berkeley, and New York State have recently passed laws to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve indoor air quality by banning new buildings from using gas stoves.

The Energy Department's proposed rule requiring more efficient designs and technologies could ban about half of gas stove models sold currently in the United States as of 2027. The rule would affect only new appliances but disproportionately impact the poor and low-income families while increasing costs for all. The White House opposes banning gas stoves and eliminating the energy efficiency rule, which would deny the American people savings that come with having more efficient appliances in the market.

Forbes: A New ‘Area 52’ In Lake Michigan Could Help the Navy Up its Autonomous Systems Game
A New ‘Area 52’ In Lake Michigan Could Help the Navy Up its Autonomous Systems Game
Retired Naval Officer Jerry Hendrix has suggested establishing a new "Area 52" for the US Navy, an unmanned tech test range on and above Lake Michigan, that is shielded from adversary intelligence gathering and would allow for multi-domain testing in air, surface, and sub-surface domains. The area is also adjacent to several local institutions that could potentially spur a Silicon Valley-like tech corridor, including Purdue University, the University of Chicago, Notre Dame, the Argonne and Fermi National Laboratories, and ship-makers Fincantieri and Saab. The idea has been met with pragmatic, cautious encouragement, with one of the most common questions being, "It makes so much sense, why aren’t we doing this already?"

The Epoch Times: Proposed House Budget Demands US Navy Float More Boats Than It's Asking For
Proposed House Budget Demands US Navy Float More Boats Than It's Asking For
The House Armed Services Committee’s Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee has approved a proposed spending plan that calls for constructing nine battle-force ships and extending the service of five of 11 ships the Navy wanted to mothball. The panel agreed on spending $874.2bn to fund the draft National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The NDAA seeks funding of $841.5bn for the Department of Defense (DOD), an increase of about 3% over the fiscal year 2023 enacted legislation and $32.26bn for the Department of Energy’s (DOE) nuclear weapons programs.

Despite growing opposition to the 30-year US shipbuilding plan by the Pentagon and Congress, the proposed fiscal year 2024 budget of the House Armed Services Committee's Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee represents "the highest top lines in US history for shipbuilding", said Rep. Joe Courtney, the subcommittee's lead Democrat. The spending plan includes $7.13bn to continue "the two-per-year procurement cadence of the Virginia-class program and the first tranche of funding for the second boat of the USS Columbia class," Courtney added. The proposed budget provides "unprecedented workforce and supplier development investment", which "sends a definitive signal to our industrial base in the wake of the pandemic", he said.

Spectator USA: Peacock’s Poker Face is just irksome
Peacock’s Poker Face is just irksome
Charlie Cale, a former poker champion with the ability to detect lies, is forced to stop gambling after an evil casino boss discovers her talent. She now lives in a trailer park and works as a waitress. The plot of "Poker Face" is convoluted and prioritizes twists over character development, much like writer Rian Johnson's previous works, such as "Knives Out." The show also fails to ground its fantastical premise in realism, leading to obtrusive product placement and implausible character choices.

Prevalence of IVF Could Create Genetic Haves and Have Nots: AMA
IVF could create a genetic divide, warns Australian Medical Association President Stephen Robson. Robson also called for an overhaul in investment in healthcare, citing a lack of graduate doctors choosing to become GPs.

The Epoch Times: Your Cell Phone and Other EMF Devices May Be Harming Your Heart
Your Cell Phone and Other EMF Devices May Be Harming Your Heart
Research suggests that electromagnetic frequency radiation emitted from electrical equipment can cause harm to the heart. This radiation spans the electromagnetic spectrum and increases from non-ionizing to ionizing radiation. The Environmental Working Group discovered that exposure to non-ionizing radiation can affect heart rate variability, cause cardiac arrhythmias, affect blood pressure, and even increase low-density lipoprotein, leading to atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease. People who are depleted of antioxidants, have chronic inflammation or pre-existing cardiovascular disease, are at greater risk for cardiac dysfunction and disease from EMF. It’s estimated that between 3.2 to 30 percent of the U.S. population fall on the EMS spectrum, including between 10 to 99 million people with some kind of adverse reaction to wireless radiation. The impact of EMF on developing children from the early fetal stage throughout childhood is of concern. The FCC has yet to comply with the court order to address the impact of EMF radiation on children and newer wireless devices. One strategy to limit exposure is avoidance. Another approach is to support a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced organic diet with vegetables high in antioxidants, low-glycemic fruits, and evidenced-based vitamin supplementation under a physician’s guidance.

'Rust' weapons supervisor accused of being hungover on day of fatal accident of Halyna Hutchins: court
On the day of the fatal shooting of Halyna Hutchins, prosecutors allege that "Rust" weapons supervisor Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was hungover from drinking and smoking marijuana in the evenings during filming. They argue that this likely contributed to her loading a live bullet into the revolver used by Alec Baldwin, causing the accident, and causing an involuntary manslaughter charge for Gutierrez-Reed. Her lawyers argue for the charges to be dropped, calling out the weak case. Baldwin was cleared of all charges, but will face a civil lawsuit from the Hutchins family, represented by Gloria Allred.
