Breitbart: Democrats Hide Biden Officials from Questions on Missing Migrant Children in Labor Trafficking Pipeline
Democrats Hide Biden Officials from Questions on Missing Migrant Children in Labor Trafficking Pipeline
Senate Democrats are shielding top Biden officials from answering questions about tens of thousands of Unaccompanied Alien Children that have been lost to labor trafficking after their release into the US. Officials such as Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, Labor Secretary Martin Walsh, and Domestic Policy Adviser Susan Rice were aware of the problem but ignored warnings from staff. Witnesses from various organizations and a foster parent of UACs appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee this week, but not one of the Biden officials named in reports on the pipeline of labor trafficking of UACs was present to testify.

The American Spectator: Railroads Are Overwhelmingly Safe, but Congress Wants More
Railroads Are Overwhelmingly Safe, but Congress Wants More
Politicians devote most of their time in office to grandstanding and catering to special interest groups. Evidence of this comes from recent posturing in the US Senate over rail safety. The Rail Safety Act, a joint effort by Sens. J.D. Vance and Sherrod Brown, is a legislative response to a Ohio freight train derailment. The bill, which is largely disconnected from the derailment, appears to push forward pet projects and offers little cost accounting of its proposals. None of the bill's prescriptions and rules would reduce the risk of a serious accident involving the transport of hazardous material. Instead, they would make freight more expensive and potentially push more of it toward trucking, as well as being beneficial to unions. This casts doubt on the rhetoric surrounding the issue of rail safety.

The author suggests that politicians devote only up to 10% of their time to the primary function of government to make the world better and safer. The rest of the time is devoted to posturing and appeasing special interest groups. An example is the Rail Safety Act in the US, developed in response to a freight train derailment in Ohio. The bill, which lacks connection to the derailment, appears to favour pet projects and union interests without an assessment of the costs and benefits of the proposals. The author suggests that most derailments will be insignificant and that rail transport is generally safer than other modes. Investments in rail safety are best made through private investment rather than tax-payer funded regulation. The article underscores the importance of sober analysis of data, rather than political rhetoric, to the issue of rail safety.

Schiff on GOP's Censure: 'Lunatics Have Taken Over the Asylum'
Representative Adam Schiff calls out Republicans for their attempts to censure him following the failure of the House resolution. Schiff remains unphased by their attempts, vowing to continue defending democracy. He also comments on the lunacy of the situation and disregards their actions as a mere attempt to distract from Trump’s legal difficulties.

Colin Kaepernick Appears to Criticize Kevin McCarthy During Speaker's Twitter Spat with Gavin Newsom
Colin Kaepernick joined in on a Twitter debate about gun control between California Governor Gavin Newsom and Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. When McCarthy disputed Newsom's proposal for passing a 28th Amendment to the Constitution to repeal the Second Amendment, Kaepernick added "KillingCounty" to the conversation. McCarthy represents a district in California with the highest murder rate but has done nothing to address it. Kaepernick is producing a mini-series called Killing County that is focused on an officer-involved shooting in McCarthy's district.

Breitbart: Turley Criticizes DOJ's Decision to Charge Trump Under Espionage Act
Turley Criticizes DOJ's Decision to Charge Trump Under Espionage Act
Law professor Jonathan Turley criticized the Justice Department's pursuit of charges against former President Trump under the Espionage Act and the act itself, in an op-ed for The Daily Beast. Turley wrote that no one is claiming harm to US national security occurred or that Trump intended to cause such harm, but the government is proceeding under provisions that make mishandling and refusal to hand over documents a crime. Turley noted that Trump is seen as showing the Iran attack documents like a trophy, what he thinks could be the government's motive that the government believes is vanity. He also made clear that he is no fan of the Espionage Act, which he believes is often used as the last refuge of the government when there is no other means to punish targeted persons, and cited the case of Wikileaks publisher Julian Assange as an example.

Turley suggested that Trump's legal team needs to beat all of the counts, not just the bulk of them under the Espionage Act, as the indictment is "very damaging." Each count ranges from 10 years to 20 years, and if convicted, Trump could face a terminal sentence. In addition to the Espionage Act charges, the remaining counts are: conspiracy to obstruct justice, withholding a document or record, corruptly concealing a document or record, concealing a document in a federal investigation, conspiracy to conceal, false statements and representations, and false statements and representations under 18 U.S.C. § 1001. Turley also commented that the Espionage Act covers 31 of the charges, which is the vast majority.

The American Spectator: Staying Sane in the Era of Rainbow Flag Totalitarianism
Staying Sane in the Era of Rainbow Flag Totalitarianism
Many Americans feel like they live in an insane world where they, the ones holding on to reality, are called crazy. This insanity is everywhere, even in the White House, which celebrated Pride Month by inviting a transgender social media personality who exposed surgically enhanced breasts on the South Lawn. Dissent is impermissible, and one can be "canceled" for the mildest criticism of the ever-expanding LGBTQIA2S+ agenda. The dispute is actually about authority, including the authority of LGBTQIA2S+ activists to destroy the livelihoods of anyone who opposes them.

The Epoch Times: More 'Nanny State' Not the Solution After Devastating Bus Tragedy
More 'Nanny State' Not the Solution After Devastating Bus Tragedy
The Australian government's knee-jerk response to crises always involves more state interference and regulation. The recent bus accident in New South Wales has led to calls for stricter bus safety regulations such as seatbelt laws. Instead, we should allow accident investigators to determine the cause of the crash before making any decisions on how to avoid such tragedies in the future. This approach leads to better decision-making and avoids unnecessary red tape.

The Epoch Times: Kids 12 and Up Given Freedom to Change Birth Certificate in Queensland, Australia
Kids 12 and Up Given Freedom to Change Birth Certificate in Queensland, Australia
Queensland has passed new laws allowing self-identifying transgender children over 12 to change their birth certificate without undergoing sex reassignment surgery. Previously, surgery was required before the gender on a birth certificate could be altered. The attorney-general said the changes addressed "discrimination" and allowed for recognition of children with “more than one mother and more than one father”. The changes were opposed by conservative groups, some of whom questioned the safety of transgender people in prisons, whilst others argued that those seeking to change gender via therapy were not helped but rather left more lonely.

The American Spectator: Little Putin’s Big Thug
Little Putin’s Big Thug
Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko, the leaders of Russia and Belarus respectively, have formed a united front against Ukraine. Putin has already surpassed the constitutionally established limit of two four-year terms for a President and is now reveling in his 23rd year in power, with Lukashenko surpassing Putin in length of tenure as leader of his country. The leaders, who have both ensconced themselves as authoritarians, recently made a deal to deploy Russian nukes in Belarus this summer to counter the "threat" posed by Ukraine. Lukashenko has warned that he would "not hesitate" to use nukes if there was an "aggression" against his country.

Google's Dominance In Ad Tech Under Scrutiny, EU Alleges Antitrust Breach, Suggests Compulsory Divestment
Google is accused of violating antitrust regulations in the field of ad tech in Europe. The EU aims to dismantle certain segments of the tech giant's business to address concerns that Google holds a dominant position in the market since at least 2014 and has been exploiting this position to favor its intermediary services. If proven, Google's actions would violate EU competition regulations. The EU is requesting the divestment of a portion of Google's services to address the competition concerns.

The Epoch Times: Japanese Cucumber Diet May Aid Weight Loss
Japanese Cucumber Diet May Aid Weight Loss
The Grated Cucumber Diet is a weight loss method that involves incorporating grated cucumber into daily meals. The method, introduced by the Japanese physician Dr. Takashi Tsurumi, is based on the theory that enzymes found in raw vegetables boost metabolism and improve intestinal health, leading to weight loss. However, nutritionists warn that the diet may not provide a complete balance of nutrients necessary for long-term weight management.
