The Epoch Times: Critics Warn of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Potential Runaway Constitutional Convention
California Gov. Gavin Newsom has proposed a 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution to impose common-sense gun safety measures while leaving the Second Amendment unchanged. However, the proposal is facing criticism because the plan for the implementation of the amendment involves working with grassroots supporters and civic leaders to ensure the convening of a constitutional convention limited to this issue, something that might lead to a Constitutional Convention that could go beyond proposed changes. There are growing concerns that overlooking this critical aspect trivializes the governor's proposal, which many consider to be a publicity stunt to support a possible presidential run in 2028 or 2024.
Red State: Visibly Angry Ted Cruz Becomes All of Us While Laying Into the Deputy Director of the FBI
Senator Ted Cruz exploded in anger during a hearing with Deputy Director of the FBI Paul Abbate. The FBI is requesting a renewal of 702 surveillance powers, despite recent reporting that shows the powers were illegally abused more than 278,000 times. Cruz demanded answers from Abbate regarding the FD-1023 form that allegedly shows Joe Biden received millions in bribes, but Abbate arrogantly refused to answer. The exchange illustrated how the FBI thinks it is above the law and avoids accountability and transparency, leaving the American people with no checks and balances. This highlights the importance of nominating a GOP candidate who has a plan for reforming the FBI and DOJ in the 2024 election.
Forbes: There The SEC Goes Again
The SEC is empowering ESG activists and allowing them to use the shareholder process to implement unrelated political agendas, even if they are detrimental to the companies' operations. Companies are being forced to engage on controversial issues not directly relevant to their businesses, stirring damaging controversies. Recent SEC actions increase the threats to the country's prosperity and may violate the First Amendment's prohibition against government-compelled speech. It is not the SEC's role to dictate what companies should consider at their annual meeting, and these policies threaten to diminish the vibrancy of the U.S. business environment.
Fox News: South Dakota Gov. Noem loses fifth chief of staff since assuming office
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem's chief of staff, Mark Miller, will leave his position for a nonprofit job in Florida, marking the fifth chief of staff to resign during Noem's administration. Miller previously served as Noem's general counsel and was named interim chief of staff in 2021, before being promoted to chief of staff in March 2022. He was an advocate on abortion issues and was the chairman of the Department of Education’s Social Studies Standards Commission.
Fox News: Ohio rewords constitutional amendment question on August ballot after court order
Ohio's Ballot Board adjusted the language for their August ballot regarding a controversial move to raise the vote threshold required to amend the state's constitution. The Ohio Supreme Court ruled yesterday that the previous wording would mislead voters. The new wording clarifies the Republican-backed "Issue 1" as "elevating the standards to qualify for an initiated constitutional amendment and to pass a constitutional amendment" instead of increasing the standards for "any" constitutional amendment. The amendment proposes to raise the threshold for passing future constitutional amendments from a simple majority to 60%.
Opponents of the proposal tried unsuccessfully to change the verb in the new wording to "changing" or "modifying," which they argued would be more neutral, rather than "elevating". The proposed amendment also calls for eliminating an existing cure period, during which campaigns that fall short by a few signatures get a handful of days to make up the difference. The change is being proposed to thwart a November proposal to enshrine abortion access in the Ohio Constitution, which would also require a 60% vote.
Newsbusters: CNN Claims Republicans Are Apathetic to National Security
CNN panelists questioned Republican's factual misstatements regarding former President Donald Trump's indictment, accusing them of following a script and not caring about national security. Republican commentator Scott Jennings defended their distrust of the FBI and DOJ, explaining how it affected their views. John Miller agreed but claimed their doubts were illogical. The purpose of a trial was to arrive at an objective verdict, but CNN already reached its verdict and even wanted to ensure prosecutors could impanel a jury that would find Trump guilty.

Breitbart: Rubio: There Will Now Be 'Tremendous Pressure' on Next GOP POTUS to Charge Biden, His Family
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) warned that the indictment of former President Donald Trump will set a precedent for the next Republican president to bring charges against Joe Biden and his family. Rubio believes that the pressure to weaponize institutions would be extraordinary and that America is being challenged in a way it hasn't been in 30 to 40 years. He added that unless we respond, China, a Communist dictatorship, would overtake the US.

Foreign Policy: Is UNESCO the Next Arena for U.S.-China Tensions?
The United States plans to rejoin UNESCO after leaving twice, this time to counterbalance China's influence. The Chinese commentator Wang Wen notes a sharp drop in foreign residents in China, which he attributes to red tape, xenophobia, and potential security threats. A CGTN documentary addresses the fentanyl issue but blames Washington for it instead, potentially adding to the current U.S.-China tensions. Chinese ambassador Xing Haiming's threat to South Koreans led to a diplomatic spat between China and South Korea. Fox News: Chinese lending rate cut generates 3% oil price hike
Global oil prices rose over 3% on Tuesday after China's central bank cut a short-term lending rate for the first time in 10 months, boosting demand prospects in the world's second-largest economy and biggest crude importer. Brent crude futures settled at $74.29, up $2.45, or 3.4%, while US West Texas Intermediate crude gained $2.30, or 3.4%, at $69.42 a barrel. A rise in global supplies and concerns about demand growth remain a worry for the market, however, along with a US Federal Reserve policy meeting concluding on Wednesday. Most market participants expect the Fed to leave interest rates unchanged.
The Blaze: White House mocked and ridiculed over failed attempt to spin 'good news' on inflation
The White House's attempt to paint inflation as positive news was met with ridicule on social media. The Biden administration tweeted a graph showing a decrease in annual inflation since March 2021, but critics pointed out that the graph also showed a skyrocketing of inflation when Biden took office. The Federal Reserve has raised interest rates to combat inflation, leading to a banking crisis and a plummeting of housing affordability.

The Epoch Times: Classic Reds
Older California wines from the 1960s and 1970s are becoming a rare commodity. A Hawaiian wine collector, Chris Clever, hosted two private events in Napa Valley in June, showcasing his collection of well-preserved “old reds.” These wines, from a period of elegance and wine/food compatibility, validate the theory that classic proportions were achieved when grapes were harvested earlier than today’s heavy and astringent wines. The cabernets Brut and Magdelena from host Beaulieu Vineyard, made by winemaker Andre Tchelistcheff in the 1970s, exhibited brilliant balance and structure. Today’s high alcohol levels are seen as the reason for short shelf-life and disappointment in such wines, which are ideal for immediate consumption.

Fox News: Sharks off Cape Cod equipped with 'smartphones' featuring cameras, improved sensors
Scientists are equipping white sharks off Massachusetts' Cape Cod with improved sensors, including cameras, to track their location and behaviour to keep beachgoers safe. The sensors can detect the sharks' depth, direction, surrounding water temperature and whether they're accelerating or slowing down, and have been described as "smartphones for sharks". The project comes just as tourists begin to fill up hotels and rental properties on the Cape for the summer – white sharks return in greater numbers to feed on the region's seals. Interactions between people and white sharks are rare but the risk has increased, with five incidents since 2012 in Massachusetts, three of which were bites.

The Epoch Times: 19 States Sue EPA Over California’s New Zero-Emission Rules for Big Rigs
A coalition of 19 states is suing the EPA over its decision to grant California waivers that allowed the state to ban diesel-powered heavy-duty truck sales by 2035. The states are asking the court for a review of the final action in April to grant the California Air Resource Board two waivers to set stricter emissions rules than the federal Clean Air Act. The states are challenging the new regulations, which they say will force truckers to buy electric trucks and regulate trucking out of existence.
