Fox News: Trial begins in Native American tribes' lawsuit over North Dakota redistricting map
Trial begins in Native American tribes' lawsuit over North Dakota redistricting map
Native American tribes in North Dakota are suing the state's Republican-led Legislature over allegations that redistricting unfairly dilutes the voting strength of their members. The litigation, brought by the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians and the Spirit Lake Tribe, seeks to overturn the legislative maps adopted by North Dakota last year. The lawsuit accuses the state of packing Native American voters into one House district and leaving Spirit Lake out of a majority-Native district, thus violating the Voting Rights Act. The trial proceedings began on Monday and estimated to last for five days.

S.F. Reparations Chairman Has Lucrative DEI Career — Now He Might Cash In on His Own Proposal
Eric McDonnell, the chairman of the San Francisco Reparations Committee, may stand to benefit from the committee's proposal to give eligible black residents a one-time $5 million payment. McDonnell's consultancy, Peacock Partnerships, has a history of catering to the diversity, equity, and inclusion needs of government agencies in San Francisco. Should the proposal be accepted, McDonnell and the other committee members could receive reparations provided they meet the eligibility requirements. McDonnell defended the proposal, saying it is "necessary to invest in the capacity of black families to be sustainable here in San Francisco," but critics argue that the cost could bankrupt the city.

Fox News: Trump to appear in federal court after special counsel indictment in classified records probe
Trump to appear in federal court after special counsel indictment in classified records probe
Former President Trump is set to appear in a federal court in Miami on Tuesday afternoon, after being indicted on 37 federal counts, including willful retention of national defense information, conspiracy to obstruct justice, and false statements, relating to his alleged improper retention of classified records at Mar-a-Lago. Trump, currently the front-runner in the 2024 Republican presidential primary, will plead not guilty to the charges. The indictment alleges that Trump showed classified documents to others in 2021 and endeavored to obstruct the FBI and grand jury investigations. The former president could face decades in prison if convicted on all federal charges.

The charges against Trump refer to his retention of classified documents and his alleged cover-up of his actions. The indictment filed in the U.S. District Court alleges that any "unauthorized disclosure" of the classified documents Trump held at Mar-a-Lago "could put at risk the national security of the United States, foreign relations, the safety of the United States military, and human sources and the continued viability of sensitive intelligence collection methods." The grand jury investigation began in April 2022, leading to last week's indictment. Trump could face decades in prison if convicted on all federal charges.

Fox News: Karine Jean-Pierre shredded for declaring Biden 'respects the rule of law:' 'How clueless'
Karine Jean-Pierre shredded for declaring Biden 'respects the rule of law:' 'How clueless'
Conservatives on Twitter criticize White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre for defending President Biden's respect for the rule of law. After being asked about former President Trump's federal indictment, Jean-Pierre stood by Biden's track record of upholding the rule of law and restoring the Department of Justice's integrity. Critics, including the Republican National Lawyers Association, dismissed this claim, pointing to what they saw as evidence that the Biden administration had targeted political enemies and arguing that the DOJ itself corresponds directly to the executive branch.

Fox News: Trump indictment increases pressure on Biden special counsel Robert Hur
Trump indictment increases pressure on Biden special counsel Robert Hur
President Biden is facing renewed scrutiny over his handling of classified documents following the indictment of former President Trump in a similar probe. Special Counsel Robert Hur is leading the investigation into Biden's possession of classified documents, some of which date back to his Senate days, found in the Penn Biden Center and his home garage. Legal experts are questioning whether Hur will aggressively pursue charges against Biden for false statements and whether there will be a direct interview with the president concerning these facts. Calls for Hur to bring similar charges against Biden are gaining momentum, with some suggesting that he should receive the "Trump treatment."

The Epoch Times: UK Should Stop Being Driven by 'White Guilt,' Racial Report Author Says
UK Should Stop Being Driven by 'White Guilt,' Racial Report Author Says
British institutions must stop relying on "white guilt" in addressing racial disparities, according to the chair of the Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities, Tony Sewell. He warned against viewing everything through a "race lens," advocating instead for a focus on the complexities of social issues that contribute to inequalities. Sewell criticised calls for "unconscious bias training for teachers," adding that schools should instead focus on supporting struggling families. Sewell led a ten-expert panel that published a report in March 2021 concluding that structural racism was no longer prevalent in the UK.

National Review: Fend Off the Drones
Fend Off the Drones
The Securing Our Airspace from Reconnaissance (SOAR) Act is a proposed bill that would prohibit the use of federal funds to purchase or operate drones from foreign entities. Government officials seeking exceptions would need to request a waiver subject to an annual review and would have to notify Congress. The bill aims to reduce the threat of foreign surveillance from China and other hostile countries and would foster a robust domestic drone industry by allowing the secretary of defense to collaborate with private-sector partners in the production of secure drones. The SOAR Act has good prospects for passage and could potentially alleviate some privacy concerns regarding the drone industry by removing the influence of hostile foreign powers from the manufacturing process.

Liberty Nation: Lies, Damn Lies, and Bidenomics
Lies, Damn Lies, and Bidenomics
President Biden and White House officials claim that the US economy has created over 13 million jobs since he took office, but this figure is contested. Opponents argue that only approximately three million new jobs were created and that only about 200,000 new manufacturing jobs were created under Biden's watch. While fewer Americans are delinquent on their mortgages, real income for the bottom half of earners has been negative for most of Biden's term, while delinquency rates are increasing across all debt categories. Furthermore, annual inflation has increased from 1.7% to 5%, while the national average gas price has increased from $2.51 to around $3.55. The president is celebrating the breathing room his policies provide, but his opponents deem the positives to be the result of mendacity.
