Washington Free Beacon: The Media Used To Hate the Espionage Act. That Was Before Trump Was Charged Under the Law.
The Media Used To Hate the Espionage Act. That Was Before Trump Was Charged Under the Law.
Former President Donald Trump was charged under the Espionage Act in Miami federal court, but mainstream media reaction to the news was quiet, despite prior concerns from journalists about the law allowing too much government power. The Espionage Act, a law that criminalizes the disclosure of potentially damaging national security secrets to someone not authorized to receive them, has been increasingly used in recent years to prosecute officials who leaked information to the media. The law could also potentially be used to prosecute journalists who publish government secrets, though legal scholars argue that would violate the First Amendment.

The Epoch Times: House Democrat Leader Slams Republicans Defending Trump After Federal Indictment
House Democrat Leader Slams Republicans Defending Trump After Federal Indictment
Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-Calif.) ridiculed Republicans for defending Donald Trump after his indictment for allegedly mishandling classified documents. Aguilar dismissed Republican criticisms of the process and said Trump will be able to argue in his own defense, but knocked Republicans currently defending Trump in the court of public opinion. Though Aguilar emphasized the serious nature of the criminal allegations against Trump, he defended President Joe Biden against recent bribery allegations, saying he believed average Americans aren't concerned about them but rather "pocketbook issues."

Red State: Ron DeSantis' Presidential Plan to Dismantle the 'Deep State'
Ron DeSantis' Presidential Plan to Dismantle the 'Deep State'
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis plans to dismantle and reorganize the executive branch of the federal government if he wins the White House in 2024. His "Day One" strategy aims to rein in the power of the executive branch, returning the DOJ and FBI to a more limited mission, and preventing power from being geographically centralized in Washington. He also plans to relocate parts of the DOJ to align the agency more closely with the vision of the Founding Fathers and intends to act swiftly through the executive branch to dismantle the "deep state."

Daily Wire: Why Trump Can Still Run For President While Under Indictment Or Even Post-Conviction
Why Trump Can Still Run For President While Under Indictment Or Even Post-Conviction
Trump pleaded not guilty to 37 felony counts related to his handling of sensitive documents, but even if convicted, he can still run for another White House term. The Constitution doesn't explicitly disqualify him, and the 14th Amendment disqualification clause would take a long road through the courts. Trump also has the potential to pardon himself if he wins a second term.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre Warned for Breaking Hatch Act
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has been warned by the Office of Special Counsel that her attacks on "MAGA Republicans" violate the Hatch Act. The warning, revealed in a letter published by the Washington Post, stated that although she violated the act, the agency decided not to take disciplinary action. Jean-Pierre has repeatedly used the Hatch Act to avoid questions, including non-political ones, while engaging in harsh attacks on Republicans.

Free Beacon: Nearly 100% of 'Fact Checker' Campaign Donations Went to Democrats
A review of FEC political donations by the Washington Free Beacon found that 99.5% of donations by self-identified fact checkers over the past four election cycles went to Democrats and liberal groups, including Bernie Sanders. This includes donations from fact checkers at major news outlets like the New York Times and Reuters. Appen Global, a data management firm contracted by Facebook for its fact-checking infrastructure, also had fact checkers who exclusively donated to Democrats.

Red State: The Trump Arraignment Tries to Exorcise a Demon, Instead It Has Unleashed the Whirlwind
The Trump Arraignment Tries to Exorcise a Demon, Instead It Has Unleashed the Whirlwind
Former President Donald Trump was arraigned on federal classified documents charges, with a mix of media coverage from serious to gleeful. Supporters gathered outside the courthouse, breaking out into chants of "Let’s Go Brandon" and "Cubans for Trump." Trump still remains popular among Republican voters who believe he is their best hope to defeat President Joe Biden in 2024, despite the indictments against him. The charges have also resulted in a perception of a two-tiered justice system, with some selectively prosecuted and others not. Trump's supporters have rallied behind him, and this could lead to an increase in similar shows of support.

The Epoch Times: 'Right to Join a Union' Constitutional Amendment Will Sail Through California Legislature
'Right to Join a Union' Constitutional Amendment Will Sail Through California Legislature
California state Senator Tom Umberg introduced Senate Constitutional Amendment 7, which gives all Californians “the right to join a union and to negotiate with their employers.” It allows the Legislature to put a proposition on the primary ballot in March 2024, which will allow the state’s voters to approve or decline a change to the California Constitution. The public employee unions are pushing for this power grab to protect their jobs and may influence voting.

The proposed Right to Organize and Negotiate Act protects collective bargaining by memorializing it in the state’s constitution, which should not be in the public sector. The public employee unions have a stronghold in Sacramento, controlling the dominant Democratic legislature by sponsoring legislation and supporting favored candidates. The unions relentlessly seek "more," which is what Senate Constitutional Amendment 7 by California state Senator Tom Umberg aims to satisfy. If voters approve the proposition, it could exacerbate California's precarious financial situation, as the state sinks further into insolvency due to insatiable union demands.

PJ Media: FLASHBACK: Biden Promised to Use His Power to Prevent Trump From Returning to White House
FLASHBACK: Biden Promised to Use His Power to Prevent Trump From Returning to White House
Donald Trump is facing charges for possessing classified documents, which his supporters claim is unfair since both Clinton and Biden have mishandled classified documents and faced no consequences. Biden even implied in a press conference that he would use his power to prevent Trump from becoming president again. Trump's lawyer argues that targeting him is emblematic of corruption and dictator-like behavior that is commonplace in some countries. This situation highlights the ongoing political divide in the United States and the accusations of corruption on both sides.

The Epoch Times: Consumer Protection: Good News, Bad News
Consumer Protection: Good News, Bad News
The VROOM Act proposes legal recourse for travelers who rent cars with options such as downgrading to a cheaper vehicle, upgrading to a more expensive car at the reserved rate, and cash payment equivalent to 200% of the reserved rate (limited to $500 per day), if a rental agency fails to honor the reservation contract. Although these options have been offered voluntarily in the past, they were not legally required. However, the proposal does not cover finding a car from another agency. There are concerns that this proposal may lack enforcement teeth and bipartisan support, but this marks the first time Congress has addressed consumer rights for travelers other than airline passengers.

The FAA Reauthorization Act does include no-fee family seating and benefits for travelers with disabilities, but it takes away the requirement for full-cost fare advertising and does not include other suggestions from consumer groups. This seems to favor the airlines, and while there are administration proposals for beneficial consumer changes, the details have not yet been seen. This proposal is expected to undergo further study and discussion, with a Senate version which may be better, but currently it is unclear which way it will go.

The Epoch Times: IN-DEPTH: Intelligence Analyst Sounds Alarm on CCP's Influence Over WHO Through 'One Health' Ideologies
IN-DEPTH: Intelligence Analyst Sounds Alarm on CCP's Influence Over WHO Through 'One Health' Ideologies
An intelligence analyst has warned of how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is using One Health to infiltrate and control the policies of the World Health Organization (WHO) and its member nations. The ideology is also spreading throughout city, county, and state institutions in the US, driving home the CCP's dominance. One Health policies - such as regulating how governments spend money and how farmers manage agriculture and using surveillance to ensure adherence - could lead to a loss of humanity's sovereignty to the CCP. The WHO treaty includes a biosecurity-to-ensure-biodiversity element, however, the organization has a link to the Chinese Communist Party that could override nations' sovereignty, according to one analyst.

Ahead of Modi State Visit, Senators See Common Ground on Common Rival

They both believe that China is a common adversary that could bring India closer to the US. Despite the present challenges surrounding foreign policy and free speech, Warner and Cornyn were optimistic about the future. India has set the goal of becoming a high-income economy by 2047 and has already seen a decline in multidimensional poverty. Additionally, India leads the world in digital-payments technology.

Flag And Cross: An Apple TV+ Executive Talks Streaming, The Strike & Global Television
An Apple TV+ Executive Talks Streaming, The Strike & Global Television
An anonymous executive at Apple TV+ shares their perspective on the ongoing WGA strike. While sympathetic to writer's arguments, the executive emphasizes the importance of cost savings, which means paying the least amount for everything, including writers. The executive also stresses that while the WGA's memes may be a good PR move, it doesn't sway negotiations, and AI poses a significant threat to the industry, particularly actors.

The DGA's decision to agree to a contract with AMPTP may be due to directors believing that they can't be replaced in the entertainment assembly line, which has become even more critical in the era of mini-rooms. While writing is hard to replace in American shows, directing is universal, and AI poses a significant threat to actors. The executives emphasize that AI may be able to create the premise, but human writers would still be hired to flesh out the IP.

Trapped 50 Feet Under the Snow
While descending the Grand Teton, Dan Wenker and Jim Zingerman were caught in high winds. On the descent, Wenker lost control, hurtled into a crevasse-like moat, and fell almost 25 feet. Pinned between a sheer rock wall and an ice wall, Wenker heard a calm, comforting voice telling him that it was not his day to die. Zingerman threw a rope, but it kept getting caught in the twisted and curved moat. Wenker started climbing and, after about 25 feet of climbing, his head emerged back into the light and Zingerman seized his friend in a hug. Noah, the park ranger, evaluated Wenker's injuries and they waited for the helicopter. All three were glad that Wenker survived.

Forbes: Author Post: Overcoming The “No”
Author Post: Overcoming The “No”
Salespeople need to have strategies for dealing with the word "no". There are different kinds of "no" which require different responses: the "no-for-now" which leaves the door open; the "mysterious no" which requires more information; the "maybe no" which can be turned into a "yes"; and the "NO!" which is an absolute, final no. Salespeople should get used to hearing "no"; they should not take it personally, and they should ask questions to find out why they got a "no". Finally, they need to remember that it's a numbers game and "no" is just a stepping stone to a "yes".
