Townhall: How To Fix The FBI In Ten Minutes Or Less
How To Fix The FBI In Ten Minutes Or Less
Sloganeering to abolish the FBI is reductionist and appeals to the masses, but it represents some of the worst political movements in history. It does nothing to address the leadership problem and only appears to exact retributive justice. Denying the FBI a new headquarters building could send a message, but real power for lasting change exists in the hands of the people, and reformation should replace politicized miscreants at the top.

The American Spectator: Biden’s Banana Republic
Biden’s Banana Republic
Former President Donald Trump has been indicted by special counsel Jack Smith, appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland, for his alleged involvement in the January 6th Capitol riot. However, critics argue that Joe Biden, who has also mishandled classified documents and has been accused of accepting bribes from China, has not been indicted and is "above the law," just like Hillary Clinton. The indictment of a former president running against a sitting president is a "fraught moment for American democracy," warns the Wall Street Journal. This has sparked outrage among Republicans, and they propose to fight fire with fire by appointing a special prosecutor to go after Joe Biden, his family, and those involved in the supposed destruction of America.

Fox News: GREG GUTFELD: Excusing theft reduces the respect everyone has for private property
GREG GUTFELD: Excusing theft reduces the respect everyone has for private property
The left is enabling criminals while handcuffing their victims, as seen in California's bill that allows shoplifters to take up to $900 worth of merchandise. Excusing theft reduces respect for private property and demoralizes employees and business owners. The left has no limits, as seen in their criminal protection plan and desire to seize private property for climate initiatives. Hashtags:

Townhall: America: Intentions and Results, Part Two
America: Intentions and Results, Part Two
Despite the efforts of America's founders to protect political freedom and moral restraint, the national government has expanded its powers and ignored the limits set forth in the Constitution. The "general welfare" and "implied powers" clauses do not give the federal government unlimited powers, and the Bill of Rights was added to limit its actions. However, Americans have become divorced from these ideals, and morality divorced from God ultimately destroys society.

When morality is separated from God and society becomes the ultimate arbiter of right and wrong, there is no way to stop the eventual perversion of morals. Ideas once considered unthinkable, such as changing one's gender or marrying an animal, are now defended by some and could easily become the norm if enough people support them. The only thing the Left will not tolerate is Christian morality as an absolute standard, and without this standard, society will ultimately be destroyed.

The Epoch Times: Columnist Axed by Major Newspaper After Writing Critically About Gender Identity Disorders
Columnist Axed by Major Newspaper After Writing Critically About Gender Identity Disorders
The Age newspaper in Melbourne has ended its relationship with Julie Szego, a freelance columnist, after she published a feature on youth gender identity disorders on her personal website, instead of in the newspaper. The Age reportedly refused to run the article after Szego had taken a position on gender issues in previous opinion writing. Szego’s piece covered individual stories of gender transition and the drag queen storytime controversy, revealing that Australian gender clinics had seen a spike in patients during the pandemic years. Szego later revealed she was compelled to speak out publicly because of tensions over transgender reporting and her treatment at a women’s rights rally in Melbourne.

Crews Begin Demolishing Remains of Collapsed Iowa Building
The remains of a six-story apartment building in Davenport are being demolished after it partially collapsed, killing three people and leaving dozens homeless. It is believed the 116-year-old building contains hazardous materials that require a weeks-long process to safely bring it down. Building owner Andrew Wold paid a $300 fine, plus $95 in court costs, after pleading guilty to not maintaining safe conditions in the building. He may also face building demolition charges. Officials have fielded questions about why tenants were allowed to stay in a building with serious structural problems.

The Epoch Times: Seatbelt Laws Back in Spotlight After Deadly Bus Crash
Seatbelt Laws Back in Spotlight After Deadly Bus Crash
A deadly bus crash in NSW reignited the debate over seatbelt laws and compliance. The cause of the crash has not been determined, but it remains unclear whether the passengers were wearing seatbelts. NSW Premier Chris Minns stressed that drivers are responsible for ensuring passengers wear seatbelts if they are provided. Under NSW law, bus passengers are exempt from wearing seatbelts in some circumstances and advice from the NSW transport department states that bus drivers are not responsible for ensuring passengers under 16 years old wear their seatbelts. Several of the crash victims were members of the Warrandyte Cricket Club in Melbourne’s northeast, and the crash comes less than a month after a truck collided with a bus carrying 46 children from Exford Primary School at nearby Eynesbury in Melbourne’s outer west. Victoria's Premier Daniel Andrews confirmed about 200 of Victoria’s 1200-strong fleet of school buses are not fitted with seatbelts but will be taken off the road in the next year or so. While Andrews is open to a national approach on bus seatbelts, complexities around school, charter and public transport types pose difficulties in agreeing to a deal.

Revolutionary War General's Statue Removed From Albany, New York City Hall Over Slave Ownership
The statue of Maj. Gen. Philip Schuyler, a Revolutionary War general, was removed from City Hall in Albany due to his ownership of slaves. This fulfilled a three-year-old executive order issued by the Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan. Schuyler’s statue had stood in front of City Hall since 1925. The removal of several historical figures' statues sparked a debate over America’s racial history, including Confederate generals and founding fathers such as Presidents George Washington and Thomas Jefferson who owned slaves.

As Losses Pile Up, Ukraine Needs A Lot More Tanks And Fighting Vehicles
As part of its counteroffensive, the Ukrainian army has lost at least four of the 85 Leopard 2 tanks, and they have requested more from allies. Ukraine has been losing tanks and vehicles at a rate that has startled many. The loss of the 33rd and 47th Brigades' vehicles in Thursday's disastrous assault may seriously degrade the brigades' combat power amid a critical time.

The IAEA has already expressed concerns over the safety and security of the plant. Director General Grossi will be visiting the facility next week to monitor the situation.

The Epoch Times: US Decides to Rejoin UNESCO and Pay Back Dues, to Counter Chinese Influence
US Decides to Rejoin UNESCO and Pay Back Dues, to Counter Chinese Influence
The US plans to rejoin UNESCO after a decade-long dispute, prompted by the agency's inclusion of Palestine. The US will pay over $600m in back dues and the move will face a vote in the coming weeks, but approval seems likely. The decision to return was motivated by concerns that China is filling a gap left by the US in UNESCO policymaking, particularly in setting standards for technology education around the world. The US absence has strengthened China, according to John Bass, Undersecretary of State for Management. UNESCO's director general has worked to depoliticize the debate about the Middle East. The US decision doesn't address the status of Palestine. The only envoy that wasn't gushing with praise was China's ambassador, Jin Yang. The US government will pay its 2023 dues plus $10m in bonus contributions. The plan foresees similar requests for the following years until it pays off the total debt of $619m. Before leaving, the US contributed 22% of the agency's overall funding. Israel, which stopped contributions to UNESCO in solidarity with the US, could also re-join. The Palestinians claim part of the West Bank and Gaza Strip for an independent state.

Townhall: IRS Overstepping Bounds With 1099-K Reporting Rule
IRS Overstepping Bounds With 1099-K Reporting Rule
An updated provision in a 2021 tax-and-spend law, Section 9674 of the American Rescue Plan Act, could devastate the e-commerce industry next tax season. The provision lowered the 1099-K reporting threshold to $600, which has been condemned by online marketplace companies and lawmakers from both major parties. Casual sellers are estimated to have a $1.1 trillion economic footprint by 2024, generating over $253 billion in the first quarter of 2023. This could have an impact on the U.S. economy as it will lose out on economic competitiveness should these platforms become unusable.

Many Americans have turned to e-commerce platforms as a way to generate supplementary income as inflation rates continue to hamstring home budgets. However, the IRS has opted to delay implementation of the new rule for a year-long "transition" period. Nevertheless, this move hasn't been positively received by the wider public as 69 percent of casual sellers said they will forgo selling items online altogether. If this rule proceeds next tax season, it will impose a burden of proof on these sellers who could, in turn, be liable for income tax on items sold. If this provision remains in action next year, the economic hit could crush online marketplaces. The IRS is overstepping its bounds by harassing online entrepreneurs and the agency would be wise to nix the new 1099-K threshold before it inflicts irreparable harm on taxpayers. ( )

Ex-Samsung Exec Charged With Stealing Trade Secrets to Create Copycat Chip Factory in China
A former executive of Samsung has been arrested and charged with stealing trade secrets as he tried to establish a rival chip manufacturer in China. Prosecutors said the 65-year-old wrongfully obtained blueprints and clean-room designs during 2018 and 2019 while attempting to copy a Samsung facility in the city of Xi’an. They accused six others of being involved in the theft, which allegedly involved at least KRW 300bn ($233m) worth of technology. The South Korean semiconductor industry accounts for nearly one fifth of the country’s exports and has suffered from the theft of intellectual property.
