Fox News: Who is Judge Cannon? Critics pounce after Trump appointee assigned to classified docs case
Former President Donald Trump is facing 37 felony counts for mishandling classified documents, with Judge Aileen M. Cannon, a Trump appointee, assigned to oversee the case, triggering calls for her recusal. In September, Cannon ruled in Trump's favor to appoint a special master to review documents seized by the FBI and ordered DOJ to stop its own review. The DOJ argued against appointing a special master and appealed Cannon's decision, which was later reversed. Critics worry Cannon's appointment could sink the DOJ's prosecution of Trump and have called on her to recuse herself.
The Federalist Papers: George Soros Gives Up Control, Hands Reins to Someone New - And It’s Bad News for Conservatives
Alexander Soros, the 37-year-old son of billionaire George Soros, has been chosen by his father to lead the Open Society Foundations, pledging to double down on liberal political priorities. Among his priorities are voting rights, abortion rights, and gender equity, and he is working to improve support for Democrats among Hispanic and black voters. The Soros family has deep ties to the Biden administration, and Alex Soros has visited the White House at least 17 times since January 2021, with three visits taking place in February 2022 alone. Critics are concerned about the access the Soros family has to the White House and its influence on US politics.
The Federalist: 3 Potential Scandals Plaguing The FBI-Biden Bribe Saga
FBI Director Christopher Wray has come under scrutiny for refusing to provide the House Oversight Committee with an unclassified document alleging that then-Vice President Joe Biden accepted a $5 million bribe from Ukrainian energy oligarch Burisma. The alleged bribe forms part of a larger scandal regarding the Biden family’s influence peddling via a web of over 20 companies during Biden's vice presidency, which allegedly earned them over $10 million from foreign nationals, including entities tied to the Chinese Communist Party and a corrupt Romanian oligarch. The FBI's concealment of the FD-1023 form showing the alleged bribe has raised questions of whether the FBI and DOJ prioritized protecting the Bidens over national interest by turning a blind eye to the family's dubious dealings. The FBI's conduct as a whole points to a broader pattern of obstructionism by our national security and law enforcement apparatus.
The Epoch Times: Silvio Berlusconi, Ex-Italian Leader, Dies at 86, According to His TV Network
Silvio Berlusconi, Italy’s longest-serving premier and billionaire media mogul, has died at age 86 after being hospitalized for chronic leukemia. He used his wealth and television networks to launch his political career and was convicted of tax fraud in a case targeting his business empire. Berlusconi’s Forza Italia party was eclipsed by other right-wing parties in recent years, and he had been stripped of his Senate seat and barred from running or holding public office for six years due to anti-corruption laws. Despite controversies and divisive opinions, his impact on Italian politics, economics, sports, and television was unprecedented.
Berlusconi introduced US-style political campaigns to Italy, with big party conventions and slick advertising that broke with the traditional gray world of Italian politics. He portrayed himself as Italy’s savior from communism, faced criminal cases but was mostly cleared due to the statute of limitations, and founded Forza Italia party after the “Clean Hands” corruption scandals. He held office for over a decade despite facing fierce domestic opposition and accusations of sponsoring laws to protect himself or his businesses. His astronomical wealth came from his media holdings and luxury real estate, leaving him a billionaire even after he lost his standing as Italy’s richest man.
The Epoch Times: Justice Thomas’s Latest Dissent: The Constitution and Federal Spending
Justice Clarence Thomas's latest dissent in the Health and Hospital Corp. of Marion County v. Talevski case discusses the constitutionality of Congress's power to spend money, explaining the meaning and history of the General Welfare Clause. The Supreme Court decided that some of the conditions on federal payments were "laws" that "secured rights"; Thomas's dissenting opinion discusses the constitutionality of this decision and presents the history of the spending power of Congress as well as the scholarship on the subject. Thomas's opinions contain a wealth of information about the Constitution's meaning and application.
The Epoch Times: Trump Is ‘Stronger Today Politically’ After DOJ Indictment: Graham
Former President Donald Trump has been charged with violating the federal Espionage Act and other federal statutes for allegedly mishandling documents at his Mar-a-Lago resort. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) says that the charges are “completely wrong” and that they are being used as a “weapon” against Trump. Trump is scheduled to make an appearance in Miami federal court on June 13 and is set to deliver remarks at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey on the same day. According to a CBS News/YouGov poll, 76 percent of likely Republican primary voters said the indictment against Trump was “politically motivated” and 80 percent said Trump should still be able to run for president even if convicted over his handling of classified documents.
The same poll also found that Trump’s lead over other Republican presidential hopefuls had not shrunk following the second indictment. Many Republicans in Congress, including House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.), have criticized the indictment against Trump, with the latter stating that it reveals the “alarming level of coordination and corruption within our Justice Department.” Graham has pledged to continue to support Trump, saying that the former president “is innocent until proven guilty.” Trump is also scheduled to go on trial in New York in March 2024 on a state case where he has been charged with 34 accounts of falsifying business records related to payments made in 2016.
The Federalist Papers: Hollywood Legend James Woods Takes One Look at Twitter, Knows Exactly What the Left Is Doing: 'Political Hogs'
Actor James Woods tweeted about leftist plots to destroy the reputation of Donald Trump. He used Twitter patterns and algorithms to identify trends which he claims include the left’s plan to cripple Trump in slow motion with a thousand cuts and isolate conservative candidates who threaten the Democrats. Woods accuses the Democrats of using traditional DNC tropes against DeSantis while coddling RINO "sucker fish." According to Woods, both parties slop at the same trough, with little differentiation between D and R politicians. There is mounting evidence that the uniparty has been exposed and the elites are very intentionally dividing with the intent of conquering.

Red State: Biden Team Caught in Yet Another Contradiction -- This Time About Chinese Threat in Cuba That Endangers Us All
The White House claimed there was no Chinese spy facility in Cuba, denying a report saying so. Cuban officials also denied it and accused media of promoting slander. Now, the White House admits there is one. They claim they were briefed on it when Joe Biden entered office, and it was not their doing. It's been there since 2019. This is a dangerous threat to national security.

Forbes: Projecting $100 Million, Hemp Startup MOOD Confounds Expectation
Hemp startup MOOD projected to earn $100 million in revenue by end of 2023. CEO and COO David Charles and co-founder Jake Antifaev have approached MOOD as a tech startup as opposed to a cannabis startup with around 50 of MOOD's 90-person staff working at headquarters and Charles working remotely from Tel Aviv. Challenges include finding the balance between growth and infrastructure development, and effectively communicating MOOD's brand identity to their target audience. Inflation is said to have impacted MOOD's operations and gross margins, but MOOD will remain committed to its values.

A pivot to support or partner with him is needed as captain Sergio Busquets is set to depart soon.
Forbes: Jahmyr Gibbs Must Quickly Deliver In Varied Role For The Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions' top pick in the 2023 draft, Jahmyr Gibbs, has been employed in various positions in OTAs. Gibbs, who was predominantly a receiver during his tenure in college football, amassed an impressive 103 receptions, 1,212 receiving yards, and eight touchdowns in three seasons. The combination of speed and agility makes Gibbs a dual threat capable of making big plays in the running and passing games. Though the Lions drafted him highly, Gibbs will need to produce at the level of the NFL's most successful receiving backs, Christian McCaffrey and Alvin Kamara, to justify his selection.

Forbes: Brazil’s President Lula And The ‘Mother Teresa Of The Rainforests’ Want To Make Lasting Change
Brazil's President Lula has nominated Thelma Krug, a scientist at the National Institute for Space Research, to head the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Krug has vigiliantly patrolled the Amazon rainforest, helping to preserve 80% of Brazilian rainforests from 2004 to 2012. Krug's ascent corresponds with President Lula's embrace of rainforest preservation. Dr Krug has emphasised that rainforest preservation needs to be an integrated effort that involves every sector and that climate finance is key to enforcing the law and creating nature-based jobs.
While Brazil may be a focal point, other countries — big and small — are also pulling their weight in rainforest preservation, such as the Ivory Coast, Kenya, Dominica, Belize and the Dominican Republic. However, some of the poorest of these countries have largely been ignored and unable to get the funding they need. Rainforest preservation needs to be elevated to the top of the climate agenda to combat extreme weather events that have ravaged lives and uprooted citizens.
