The Epoch Times: MPs Say No Clear Basis for Accepting Albanian Asylum Claims
The UK Parliament's Home Affairs Committee has found that there is no clear basis to accept thousands of asylum applications from Albanian citizens, as it has found little evidence that Albanian nationals are at risk in their own country. Despite this, the committee has recommended more support for Albanian victims of people smuggling, particularly women. More than a quarter of the 45,755 illegal immigrants who crossed the English Channel in small boats in 2022 were Albanian, most of whom claimed asylum. The committee has recommended that the UK promote seasonal work visas in agriculture and construction to reduce illegal crossings and has stressed the importance of maintaining positive relations with the Albanian government.

Red State: Press Members Cry a River Over the Judge in the Trump Case
The judge overseeing Trump's latest indictment is causing worry for the media due to past rulings in favor of the former president. Aileen Cannon, who previously ruled in favor of Trump's request for a third-party attorney to review found documents in his home, is being criticized by NBC News and MSNBC. The latter suggesting she pass the case to another judge to avoid "any appearance of impropriety." However, others argue that Cannon's past rulings prove her fairness and handling of the case without giving unfair assistance to the DOJ.
Fox News: House Oversight Chair James Comer claims 'other 1023s' alleging Biden 'bribery' scheme may exist
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer criticized the Justice Department's handling of the GOP investigation into President Joe Biden and his family's alleged business dealings. Comer claimed Congress has sought access to an FBI-generated FD-1023 reportedly detailing "bribery" allegations against Biden. According to Comer, FBI Director Christopher Wray admitted to the existence of the form after Comer and Sen. Chuck Grassley attested to having read it, and suggests that there are likely more forms containing additional evidence of bribery linked to the Biden family. Comer reiterated previous allegations that the Biden family established "20 shell companies at least" to launder money from foreign nationals, allegedly dividing the money among nine different family members.
Fox News: Top Dem senator slams lobbyist influence but is reminded to look in the mirror at his own stable.
A Democrat senator who criticized lobbyist influence was reminded of his own lobbyist connections. The billionaire ex-Italian prime minister, who called himself the 'Jesus Christ of politics,' has passed away. A shooting outside a Maryland home has left at least three dead and several injured. A Christian physician, fired for not using trans pronouns, encourages people to 'stand up' for faith. Trump's potential federal indictment is deemed 'very damning' by former AG Barr. Joe Rogan criticizes Biden's ties to Ukraine and China while Sen. Ron Johnson blasts media for ignoring Biden family deals.

National Review: On Mike Pence and Rallying for Life
Mike Pence's commitment to opposing abortion and promoting adoption is commendable, but his support for expedited executions as a solution to mass shootings undermines his credibility as a pro-lifer. We need to examine our national ailments, including the fact that so many people feel their lives lack value and the pain caused by abortions. It's time to have more conversations and work together towards a consistent ethic of life, rather than falling into set positions on issues like abortion and the death penalty.

National Review: ‘We Have to Resist’
Natan Sharansky, a former Soviet Gulag prisoner and political activist, has expressed concern about the treatment of Alexei Navalny in Russian prison. Sharansky was imprisoned for nine years and spent 405 days in a punishment cell. Navalny, who has spent almost 200 days in a punishment cell, is regarded as the leader of the political opposition against Vladimir Putin. Sharansky fears Navalny will break his record. Sharansky stressed that it is important for those outside of Russia to stand in solidarity with those fighting against the dictatorship, and that trying to appease Putin would be foolhardy.
The Epoch Times: 4 US Lawmakers Oppose Hong Kong Chief Executive's Attendance at APEC Summit
Four bipartisan members of Congress wrote to Secretary of State Antony Blinken opposing the invitation of Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Conference in San Francisco this November. They claimed it would send a terrible signal to human rights violators worldwide as Lee was a senior member of the Hong Kong government that violently suppressed peaceful protesters in 2019. The U.S. Department of Treasury imposed sanctions on Lee in 2020 because he was accused of violence against protesters who opposed the draconian National Security Law. The lawmakers named notable victims and urged Blinken to veto any action that would give China a disproportionate presence at the summit, including barring Lee from entering the United States.

The Epoch Times: Oil Prices Fall, US Fed Rate Decision in Focus
Oil prices fell as investors waited to see if the U.S. Federal Reserve would continue to raise interest rates, while concerns about China’s demand for fuel and rising Russian crude supply weighed on the market. Brent crude futures dropped to $72.88, down 2.5%. US West Texas Intermediate crude was at $68.15, a fall of 2.8%. Bank of America Global Research said oil prices were in a tug of war between bearish investors predicting monetary contraction and bullish oil speculators expecting falling inventories in the second half of 2018. The greenback’s strength due to the Fed’s rate hikes has also made dollar-priced supplies more expensive for holders of other currencies, impacting demand.
Forbes: The United States’ Electric Vehicle Market Is (Finally) On The Move
The United States is making progress towards a national EV charging infrastructure network and policy landscape that will drive EV adoption. The IIJA and IRA create demand-side drivers in the form of tax credits, incentives, and grant funding for the auto industry to build new EV manufacturing plants, battery production facilities, and EV component processing. The EPA has also proposed vehicle emission standards for nearly all vehicle classes that will reduce emissions, improve air quality, and set the stage for long-term market transformation.
ZETA’s Regulatory Director Thomas Boylan, on the Electrify This! podcast, discusses the priorities for the EV industry. ZETA is focused on implementing the IIJA and IRA, reforming permitting, and ensuring a stable supply chain to support the EV transition. ZETA also responded to the EPA's recently proposed greenhouse gas emission standards related to pollution controls for greenhouse gas emissions, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, and sulfur dioxide for all vehicle classes. ZETA believes that standards will reduce emissions, give the supply chain a sense of certainty, and create demand-side drivers for EVs.
The Epoch Times: Dollar Slips as Fed Pause Eyed in Busy Central Bank Week
The dollar is expected to remain stable this week ahead of policy decisions from the Federal Reserve, European Central Bank, and Bank of Japan. Money markets expect a pause from the Fed, while the ECB is expected to hike interest rates by 25 basis points this week. The dollar index lost almost 0.5% last week, while the euro rose 0.2% to $1.0772 in early London trade. The Japanese yen is expected to maintain ultra-loose monetary policy and tactical JPY weakness could extend versus USD and on crosses. The Reserve Bank of New Zealand signalled that it was done tightening after raising rates to 5.5% last month, while China's offshore yuan extended losses to trade at its lowest level since November 2018.

The Epoch Times: EXCLUSIVE: Report Alleges Catholic Hospitals Linked to Transgender Surgeries, Abortions
CommonSpirit Health, the largest Catholic health system in the US, has allegedly funded and performed transgender surgeries, alleging defying traditional Catholic teachings - including providing puberty blockers for children with gender dysphoria - according to an investigative report from the Lepanto Institute. Under scrutiny for its alleged promotion and funding of "gender-affirming" medical interventions to assist transgender individuals in the process of transitioning, the report has caused consternation among some sectors of the Catholic Church, which has traditionally rejected transgenderism, homosexuality, abortions and contraception. “The transgender craze has seized the world by the throat and is choking the life out of the bedrock of civilization: the family. And this is happening right under the nose of the Vatican,” said a promotional video accompanying the report.

American Thinker: May I see your (digital) papers, please?
The World Health Organization (WHO) has partnered with the European Commission to establish global digital health passports, using Europe's existing vaccine passport framework. Negotiations are also underway in the US to grant the WHO emergency powers, and a Central Bank Digital Currency and Digital Social Credit Score may follow. Australian senator Alex Antic has criticized the move, calling it a conspiracy theory come true. A universal digital control system is likely, with exclusive "letters of transit" providing freedom of movement, but it is unlikely that ordinary citizens will ever obtain them.

National Review: Toronto Blue Jays Promote, Commit to Starting Minor-League Catcher Who Identifies as Nonbinary
The Toronto Blue Jays have called up minor-league catcher Brady Deeker, who recently became the first professional baseball player to identify as nonbinary. Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins expressed his excitement for being at the forefront of LGBTQ2S+ progress and pledged to put Deeker in the starting lineup immediately, displacing current starting catcher, Alejandro Kirk. The move has been met with near-universal acclaim, though some skeptics have questioned Deeker's athletic abilities. The Blue Jays have designated Deeker's locker as gender-neutral and will mark one urinal and stall in the men's room as “all-gender." The current Blue Jays backup catcher, Tyler Heineman, will be designated for assignment. An ESPN 30 for 30 documentary tentatively titled The Catcher Who Was Neither: The Brady Deeker Story is scheduled for release in the fall.

Forbes: AI Makers Guaranteeing That Your Generative AI Output Is Safe From Copyright Exposures Might Be A Lot Less Filling Than You Think, Says AI Ethics And AI Law
Generative AI apps can lead to copyright infringement, and users could be held responsible for any violations. AI makers themselves may not be responsible. Adobe’s generative AI tool called Firefly is one example where Adobe will indemnify users against copyright infringement allegations, but the devil is in the details. Generative AI is data trained by scanning various websites on the Internet to find patterns and create templates rather than directly copying content. While generative AI for text-to-text, essays, or songs might be free from copyright infringement, text-to-art or text-to-imagery AI might require licenses for stock images or public domain materials that match the AI-generated work.
