Fox News: Top Dem senator slams lobbyist influence while hiring his own stable of ex-lobbyist staffers
Top Dem senator slams lobbyist influence while hiring his own stable of ex-lobbyist staffers
Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown, who has spoken out against lobbyists having "too much power," has a history of hiring them to his staff, including former lobbyist Logan Basch as his digital director this year. Despite claiming to have "fought" corporate lobbyists to pass the Inflation Reduction Act, Brown has at least three former chiefs of staff with lobbying backgrounds. James Heimbach, for example, now a lobbyist for Cigna Corporation, served as the senator's chief of staff from 2007 to 2009 after previously working as a lobbyist, while former lobbyist Mark Powden worked for Brown from 2007 to 2019, including as his chief of staff from 2009 to 2015. Philip Letsou, spokesman for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, said Brown keeps "railing against lobbyists while hiring them in key positions."

American Thinker: Does Obama pay for anything with his own money?
Does Obama pay for anything with his own money?
A private investigator claims Obama used a fake social security number, and alleges there is no evidence Obama has purchased any property. A Hawaiian TV station reported that Marty Nesbitt purchased the famous Magnum PI property, but the media is said to have incorrectly reported Obama bought the property. Documents show Obama's Kalorama house in Washington, D.C., is owned by Homefront Holdings, although there is a claim that the Obamas control Homefront Holdings. The property was purchased in 2020, and an extra $5,000 has been tacked on each year as penalties for late payment of taxes. Obama's Edgartown property is listed in the name of James F. Reynolds, Trustee.

American Thinker: Biden and Dems go all-in on Pride Month and trans agenda
Biden and Dems go all-in on Pride Month and trans agenda
Biden Administration pushes LGBTQ agenda, endorsing irreversible drugs and surgeries on children deemed transsexual by school and medical authorities, despite parental concerns. He spoke at the largest White House pride event in history, accompanied by openly gay and transgender officials. Biden aims to counteract anti-LGBTQ bills in states like Florida, but is this strategy effective in swing states?

Fox News: CUNY Law grad faces calls to be barred from ever practicing law over 'evil,' 'Anti-American' 'hate speech'
CUNY Law grad faces calls to be barred from ever practicing law over 'evil,' 'Anti-American' 'hate speech'
Activist groups and NYC council member Inna Vernikov are calling for CUNY Law grad Fatima Mousa Mohammed to be denied the ability to practice law if she passes the bar exam due to her anti-Semitic and anti-American remarks during her commencement speech. A civil rights group called the Lawfare Project appealed to the New York Supreme Court to disqualify Mohammed. Critics called her speech a "blatant call for insurrection" and "raging antisemitism." The controversy led to demands that the institution be defunded, and CUNY eventually called Mohammed's address "hate speech."

Forbes: With Lionel Messi Coming, MLS TV Deal Feels Like Missed Opportunity
With Lionel Messi Coming, MLS TV Deal Feels Like Missed Opportunity
Lionel Messi's arrival at Inter Miami is seen as a huge coup for MLS, but some speculate on the timing and missed opportunities. MLS signed a 10-year, $2.5bn deal with Apple TV for worldwide streaming rights, which now appears a missed opportunity with Messi's arrival. Had the league struck a shorter deal, it could have renegotiated a longer and more lucrative agreement with the additional leverage of having Messi play every week. Nonetheless, Messi's arrival is still seen as a significant boost for the league.

American Thinker: The public opinion tide begins to turn against electric vehicles
The public opinion tide begins to turn against electric vehicles
Actor Rowan Atkinson, known for his portrayal of "Mr. Bean," has called on drivers to avoid purchasing electric vehicles (EVs) due to the technology being more harmful to the environment than what it is worth. Atkinson, a motor enthusiast with degrees in electrical engineering, criticised the lithium-ion batteries currently fitted to almost all EVs for being heavy, energy-intensive to manufacture, and lasting for just over a decade. Atkinson's comments signal that EVs' practical problems concerning their environmental impact are slowly becoming more apparent.

Forbes: Take An X To The Public Health Insurance Option
Take An X To The Public Health Insurance Option
Senator Bernie Sanders recently introduced the Medicare for All Act of 2023, a single-payer healthcare plan. President Joe Biden is expected to propose his public option during his re-election campaign, an alternative to Medicare for All. Democrats have not made much progress on either plan. The Medicare-X Choice Act, a modified version of traditional Medicare, has been introduced three times but still captivates Democrats. It would allow individuals and small businesses to purchase the low-cost government-subsidized insurance plan on the Affordable Care Act's exchanges. However, public option plans are explicit about cutting payments to doctors and hospitals in order to keep their costs down.
