The Epoch Times: Australian Open CEO Calls for Transgender Athletes in Women's World Tennis
Tennis Australia CEO Craig Tiley supports transgender athletes inclusion in women’s tennis, calling on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) to allow them to compete at elite levels. Tiley highlighted Tennis Australia's core values of inclusivity, diversity, and equality, adding that the sport has been grappling with this issue for some time.
However, some organizations, such as Women’s Forum Australia, oppose his stance as they believe it will encroach on women's rights. Martina Navratilova, a former professional tennis player, also spoke out against Tiley's stance, claiming that the inclusion of trans-identified males in the female category makes biological females lose a spot. The inclusion of transgender athletes in women's sports comes amid a wider push to break down gender separations.
Forbes: FC Barcelona Have Chosen Which Number ‘9’ They Will Sign This Summer: Reports
FC Barcelona has chosen Brazilian striker Vitor Roque as their target number '9' signing this summer and are willing to pay €30m plus €5m to Athletico Paranaense for him. The 18-year-old has unanimous backing from the scouting department and is viewed as a potential "Brazilian Luis Suarez" and the "perfect complement" to Pichichi-winning striker Robert Lewandowski. Roque's family and entourage know that Barca intends to come in for him and will block offers from other European rivals, such as Arsenal and Chelsea, who have already registered their interest.
