The Epoch Times: Independent Report Finds Ken Paxton Didn't Break Law in Firing Former Officials
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton did not break any laws by firing employees who accused him of wrongful dismissal and retaliation, according to an outside law firm. The Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith report refuted each of the former employees' allegations against Paxton, who was suspended after being impeached by the Texas House. Paxton was accused of bribery and abuse of public trust relating to involvement with Austin real estate developer Nate Paul. Paxton denied the allegations, calling the impeachment "politically motivated", but faces trial in the state Senate.

Some speculate that she may be considering legal retaliation, given her past support of censorship. She has previously celebrated the deplatforming of Tucker Carlson, claiming that "deplatforming works". The Epoch Times: Windsor Police Officer Appealing Discreditable Conduct Charge for $50 Donation to Freedom Convoy
Const. Michael Brisco, a Windsor police officer, has appealed his guilty charge of "discreditable conduct" for donating $50 to a protest through the website GiveSendGo. The donation had been made in support of the Ottawa Freedom Convoy. While Brisco maintains that he believed he had been "laid off" and made the donation as a civilian, retired Ontario provincial police Sgt. Morris Elbers stated that there was no reason for Brisco to think he was no longer employed. After being found guilty, Brisco was required to forfeit 80 hours of work. Now, the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms is representing Brisco in an appeal to the Ontario Civilian Police Commission.
The Federalist: The Campaign To Destroy SCOTUS Is Getting Increasingly Stupid
Slate's Mark Joseph Stern accuses Justice Samuel Alito of corruptly recusing himself in a case involving Phillips 66, despite proper disclosure. Stern claims Alito's lack of explanation for recusal violates non-existent SCOTUS ethic "rules.” However, the words “may” and “many instances” are used in the “Statement on Ethics Principles and Practices,” so explanation is optional rather than an obligation. Critics attacked Alito's recusal as an ethical issue, while they overlooked Justice Sonia Sotomayor's failure to recuse herself from multiple cases involving a publisher who paid her over $3 million while she was on the court.
National Review: The Corner: NYT: GOP’s Diverse Field a Sign of . . . GOP Racism
New York Times reporters suggest Republican presidential candidates of color are being strategic or dishonest in their rejection of the "systemic racism" to which they themselves have been subjected. Yet, the authors misrepresent these candidates' views, downplaying the existence of institutionalized racism, while these candidates do in fact recognize American racism as an obstacle to be overcome. The authors’ allegations against Republican candidates appear to be founded in a political agenda rather than reality. The insidious structure of their line of argumentation purposes that non-white Republican candidates are inauthentic in a context that American minorities can only advance if managed by left-wing funding for redistribution of society's wealth.

The Epoch Times: Opinion: Beijing’s Targeting of O’Toole and Kwan Shows the Perils of Neglecting Intelligence
The Canadian government ignored crucial intelligence on Chinese Communist Party's attempts to interfere in federal elections in 2019 and 2021, according to a former intelligence officer. The CCP carried out clandestine campaigns to intimidate voters and promote certain candidates, including targeting individuals outside the sitting Liberal government. Normally, only officials belonging to the elected government and senior officials receive intelligence briefings, leaving opposition MPs in the dark. The author suggests trusted officials be brought into the loop in specific circumstances, such as threats to personal safety and clear efforts to interfere with their positions.
The Epoch Times: China’s CCP: World’s Most Dangerous Transnational Criminal Organization
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is engaged in transnational criminal activities such as trafficking illegal drugs, laundering cash, stealing intellectual property, and murdering people for their organs. With over 96.7 million members, the CCP is the world's largest transnational criminal organization. Its primary goal is rule over Planet Earth and near parts of the solar system, and it believes that whatever it does is within its right and not criminal. China uses its sophisticated surveillance state to monitor its people and all transnational crimes committed within the state, even those not committed by state agents, are the CCP's criminal acts as well. The CCP is responsible for the tens of thousands of Americans annually killed by fentanyl, with Chinese gangs designing and making opioids in Chinese laboratories. The CCP is increasingly apparent to have decided to foster the drug trade in the Americas to destabilize the region, spread corruption, addiction, and death. These are just a few of China's crimes detailed in Frank Gaffney's new book, “The Indictment: Prosecuting the Chinese Communist Party & Friends for Crimes Against America, China, and the World.”

The Epoch Times: Privacy Commissioner Dismisses All Complaints Over COVID Vaccine and Quarantine Mandates
Privacy Commissioner Philippe Dufresne dismissed all complaints over federal vaccine and quarantine mandates, arguing COVID-19 pandemic measures enforced by the Liberal government were necessary and justifiable under the Privacy Act. The Commissioner issued seven separate reports in response to complaints against COVID-19 measures, according to Blacklock’s Reporter. None of the complaints were upheld. The complaints targeted cabinet decrees, including a requirement that border crossers and air travellers show proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
The Office of the Commissioner and provincial equivalents had previously written in a May 2021 joint statement that no existing federal law permitted governments to mandate COVID-19 vaccinations, as there must be “clear legal authority for introducing the use of vaccine passports for each intended purpose.” Then-Privacy Commissioner Daniel Therrien told reporters in 2021. The statement was later modified to remove a sentence it deemed problematic, leading to a controversy.
