Chicago City Council Approves $51M for Migrants, Residents Furious
The Chicago City Council approved $51 million in aid to illegal immigrants on top of $102 million already spent this year, causing public outrage. The city is facing a humanitarian crisis with over 10,000 migrants arriving in the past year, yet Chicago is already facing severe issues of crime, homelessness, failing schools, and a struggling economy. The decision has sparked racially-charged debates, with black voters calling out the city for neglecting its own citizens.

The Epoch Times: Debt Deal: Billions of Dollars to Be Reduced in IRS Funding
Debt Deal: Billions of Dollars to Be Reduced in IRS Funding
The US debt-ceiling agreement includes cuts of $21.4bn to funding for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), with $1.4bn already having been allocated set to specifically be rescinded. The rest will be deducted from the $80bn originally given to the IRS under the Inflation Reduction Act over a decade-long period. The yearly use of this extra funding will not be affected by the cuts. The move will likely lead to federal revenues being reduced, according to a May report from the Congressional Budget Office, which estimated a net increase in deficit of $900m over a decade.

There are worries that the cuts could damage the IRS’s funding for new technology, improving customer service, more efficient tax resolution and staffing, including attracting more highly qualified personnel. While a White House official has suggested there may be future calls for additional funding requirements, some have suggested the cuts could suggest a reduced commitment to the IRA increase. The same sources also suggest there could be a reluctance to invest in staff and technology, with the agency potentially making cuts to these to offset losses in funding.

Nolte -- Trump Fallout: CNN Monthly Primetime Crashes to 494K Total Viewers
CNN's primetime viewership dropped by 16% in May, attracting only 494,000 total primetime viewers and losing 93,000 viewers compared to April. The network's unappealing anchors and its bias in favor of far-left politics and association with violent organizations like Antifa and Black Lives Matter alienated viewers, leaving it with a fractional and loyal base of Woke Gestapo viewers. CNN's ratings could dip below 400,000 this month causing a devastating anomaly for the network. Donald Trump's triumphant appearance at a CNN town hall on May 10 has affected the network's residual audience, causing further setbacks.

Washington Free Beacon: Even Millennials Are Turning Republican, Data Show
Even Millennials Are Turning Republican, Data Show
Young voters who propelled Obama to victory in 2008 are now shifting toward the Republican party. Only half supported Joe Biden in 2020, a sharp contrast to liberal predictions of a "coalition of the ascendant" that would make Democrats the eternal majority. Exit polls also show black and Latino voters shifting rightward. The shift may be due to the fading relevance of issues that drew in young voters in 2008 and Republicans' use of colorblind messaging on race and anti-establishment rhetoric.

The Corner: Forget ‘DehSantis’ or ‘DeeSantis’ — How Do You Pronounce ‘Ron’?
Trump has been referring to Florida Governor DeSantis as "Rob" for unknown reasons, leading some to speculate that Trump sees him as a trivial figure. However, the name confusion seems to stem from a Daily Mail headline that initially referred to him as "Rob" due to a typo. When Trump's press team sent out a press release citing the article, they failed to correct the mistake, leading Trump to believe that "Rob" was his actual first name.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' campaign denied the claim, stating that people were just unloading luggage from the bus when the picture was taken. Cheung also criticized the governor for his different name pronunciations, while DeSantis responded saying that he would not "get in the gutter" and that Trump's "conduct" was one of the reasons "he's not in the White House now."

First Lady Jill Biden to Skip Israel on Trip to Middle East
First Lady Jill Biden will skip Israel on her Middle East trip, instead visiting Jordan and Egypt to "strengthen relationships" with allies. She is expected to attend the wedding of Jordan's Crown Prince, but decline to visit Israel, the region's only true democratic nation. This move follows the Biden administration's refusal to engage directly with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in what appears to be a way to exert leverage on Israel's policy towards Iran and the Palestinians.

Fox News: GOP rep demands answers on DOD grant to university with Chinese ties
GOP rep demands answers on DOD grant to university with Chinese ties
Rep. Mike Gallagher sent a letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin seeking answers on a research grant to Alfred University, an American university with Chinese ties. The letter called out the university's partnership with a Chinese university “actively engaged in defense research” on behalf of the People's Liberation Army. The grant worth $13.5 million that was issued by the Department of Defense in 2022 towards hypersonic weapons research could be in violation of the law as of October 1, 2023, per Section 1062 of the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

In the letter, Gallagher requested information on how the Department of Defense (DOD) safeguards sensitive military research from theft or compromise due to the university’s Confucius Institute in conjunction with its research agreement with China University of Geosciences in Wuhan, which currently maintains a research center whose research area is "closely related" to that of Alfred University's. Gallagher's letter comes a little over a month after Rep. Jim Banks sent a letter to Austin requesting answers on the DOD's "inadequate guidance" for colleges seeking waivers to host Confucius Institutes on campus while maintaining department funding. The Senate had passed a bill limiting China's reach into American universities by tightening restrictions on Confucius Institutes.

The IAEA closed two investigations into Iran's nuclear program, angering Israeli officials who claim reduced monitoring could lead to Iran obtaining dangerous nuclear material. The IAEA made significant concessions to install limited monitoring equipment at Iran's nuclear facilities, prompting warnings from Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant that Israel may have to take action to protect the integrity of Israel and the future of the Jewish people. Meanwhile, a top Iranian general announced Iran's plans to export weapons, military equipment, and training to allies in the Middle East and across the globe.

Forbes: Center For Maritime Strategy’s Navy Shipyard Housing Proposal Misfires
Center For Maritime Strategy’s Navy Shipyard Housing Proposal Misfires
The Center for Maritime Strategy suggests the Navy buy used cruise ships to address poor living conditions for sailors on berthing barges during refits. However, this proposal is not feasible, as the costs are prohibitive, and Congress would not save money or time tinkering with old cruise ships. Additionally, these ships are not suitable for use as auxiliary hospital ships or transport vessels for troops as the design cannot easily be converted. Instead, the Navy should integrate permanent lodging into naval shipyards and look into accommodation barges as a more viable option.

Building permanent lodging facilities in shipyard towns is a more economical choice for the Navy than buying old cruise ships. Accommmodation barges are also a common feature throughout the maritime and can offer comfortable lodging to all kinds of workers. Instead of buying old cruise ships, the Navy should focus on designing berthing barges with better designs, amenities, and services, such as those being built by Philly Shipyard and Bibby Marine. Additionally, the Navy should look at evolving the National Security Multi-Mission Vessel project for mid-sized hospital ships, troop carriers, and vessel tenders.

Remember When Dennis Franz Bared His Butt on National TV? That Was Just the Beginning.
Conservatives boycotted TV shows and companies in the 1980s and 1990s, mostly due to issues such as supporting Planned Parenthood and nudity on TV. Now, nearly everything coming out of Hollywood is designed to offend and push the envelope, and children are being subjected to left-wing groupthink and indoctrination. The woke movement is degrading public morality and replacing it with a strict adherence to their ideology. Our culture will continue to deteriorate unless we can mainstream our values again.
