Daily Wire: Indiana Attorney General Leads 18-State Lawsuit Challenging Biden’s Border Policies
Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita leads an 18-state lawsuit against the Biden administration over the "Circumvention of Lawful Pathways" policy, which grants migrants "lawful entry" into the United States, according to the Department of Homeland Security. Fox News: Senegalese opposition leader Ousmane Sonko convicted of corrupting youth, acquitted of rape charges
Senegal's opposition leader, Ousmane Sonko, was convicted of corrupting youth and sentenced to two years in prison, though he was acquitted of charges of rape and death threats. Sonko did not attend his trial and has not yet been arrested. His supporters claim that the legal issues are an attempt by the government to prevent his candidacy in the 2024 presidential election and that the verdict is intended to bar him from the upcoming election. Tensions rose across Senegal after the verdict was announced, leading to clashes at the main university in the capital, Dakar.
Sonko is widely perceived as the primary competition for President Macky Sall and has called on Sall to clarify publicly that he will not seek a third term in office. Corrupting young people, including engaging in sex with individuals under 21, is a criminal offense punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of approximately $6,000 in Senegal. Sonko's conviction for corruption is likely to prevent his eligibility for the next election, and the verdict has fueled criticism of Senegal's alleged erosion of judicial independence and democratic backsliding. The court decision is likely to increase tensions around the possibility of Sall's third term in the coming election.
Human Events: DAVID MARCUS: Biden can’t keep progressive Democrats in line on
the debt deal
46 progressive Democrats voted against the debt ceiling deal crafted by Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, despite McCarthy's success in rallying 151 Republicans to support the bill. The left-leaning House members rejected the deal, pointing out that it gave Biden all he wanted while ceding ground to Republicans, most notably in the form of work requirements for welfare. The bipartisan deal did not offer a remedy to America's budgetary problems and appears to have left Biden weakened politically.

Breitbart: Report: ATF 'Skeptical' of Charging Hunter Biden
Hunter Biden may have lied about his drug use on a gun purchase form in March 2018, but officials at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives may not bring gun-related charges against him due to his lack of criminal history. His lawyers are preparing a defense against potential charges which include citing a recent federal ruling allowing marijuana users to own firearms, and a federal firearms background check system challenge. United States Attorney for the District of Delaware David Weiss, a Trump administration appointee, is the lead prosecutor in the case. Attorney General Merrick Garland is responsible for signing off on charges but refuses to appoint a special counsel to investigate the case.
The Blaze: 65-year-old New Yorker charged for blowing away would-be mugger who allegedly rushed him despite warnings
Charles Foehner, a 65-year-old man with a clean record who had an active NYPD firearms permit for a shotgun, may face murder charges after he killed Cody Gonzalez, a 32-year-old man who tried to mug him outside a parking garage in Queens. Foehner, who was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm, may stand to lose his freedom, as he didn't have a permit for the silver revolver that saved his life, while Gonzalez had an extensive criminal record with arrests for robbery, burglary and other charges. Foehner claimed that Gonzalez aggressively demanded money and cigarettes, and he waves off his would-be mugger to no avail. In surveillance video of the encounter, Gonzalez can be seen aggressively stalking Foehner, initially confronting his victim at a distance of 40 feet. Foehner reportedly drew his silver revolver when Gonzalez advanced another 20 feet closer, and opened fire with just eight feet between them, plugging the 32-year-old as many as five times.

Fox News: Hubble captures dazzling 'jellyfish galaxy' 900 million light-years away
NASA's Hubble Space Telescope has been studying a jellyfish galaxy called JW39, which is located in the constellation Coma Berenices and 900 million light-years away. The galaxy appears calm, but it exists in a hostile galaxy cluster that can distort its shape and strip it of its star-forming gas, creating tendrils that stretch away from the galaxy reminiscent of a jellyfish's tentacles. The tendrils had surprisingly similar star formation activity to the galaxy disk.
The Economist: Temperatures of 50°C will become much more common around the Mediterranean
The Mediterranean and the Middle East can expect extreme temperatures above 50°C every decade by 2100 due to climate change, with spikes above 45°C likely to occur annually. The Hadley Centre found that current carbon dioxide levels in the air will increase to around 600 parts per million by 2100, causing an increase in heatwaves, droughts, fires, and weather-related deaths. The land-based fish farming industry is set to see a transformation with new systems that allow fish to be raised anywhere, with minimal pollution. Mosquitoes, wasps, and parasitic worms could contribute to less painful injections, and green steel manufacturing alternatives are emerging using electricity instead of hydrogen.
