The Epoch Times: DeSantis Tells Iowa Republicans He Can Lead GOP Past Biden, America Onto 'Big Things'
DeSantis Tells Iowa Republicans He Can Lead GOP Past Biden, America Onto 'Big Things'
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a GOP presidential candidate, warns that a Joe Biden victory in the 2024 election will lead to Democrats packing the Supreme Court, eliminating the Electoral College, and admitting Washington, D.C., as a state to gain two senators. DeSantis launched his campaign on May 24 and is on a 12-city tour over three early-primary states. He plans to revamp the “fourth branch of the government,” declaring a national emergency to close the US-Mexico border, and fire FBI Director Christopher Wray on his first day if elected. DeSantis will focus on spending priorities, education, the military and energy industry; deficit spending cuts; and constitutional accountability.

The June 1 campaign events had former President Donald Trump appearing in Des Moines and DeSantis speaking in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Iowans wary of career politicians. Voters well-versed in the traditions of Iowa’s first-in-the-nation caucus process are paying close attention to any candidate who shows up, speaks to them in plain language, and does not antagonize media or local officials. With eight months to go until the pivotal Iowa caucuses, local Republicans are keeping their options open, researching and supporting the slate of GOP presidential hopefuls on their “Pizza Ranch” schedules.

Four States Enact Paycheck Protection Laws, While One Moves To Repeal
Several Republican Governors have signed Paycheck Protection bills into law which bar state government payroll systems and taxpayer resources from being used to deduct union dues from government worker paychecks. Kentucky, Arkansas, Tennesee and Florida have all enacted Paycheck Protection legislation this year, apart from the Democrats who want to appeal their state’s current Paycheck Protection law. The Missouri House bill (1342), which stipulates that companies with the protection of secret ballot votes will no longer be eligible for any state incentive programs or packages, has been signed by Governor Bill Lee making Tennessee the first state to do so.

The Epoch Times: Stock Market Today: Wall Street Slips as Stocks Slump Worldwide
Stock Market Today: Wall Street Slips as Stocks Slump Worldwide
Stock markets slumped worldwide due to concerns over inflation and the strength of the global economy. The S&P 500 fell 0.6 percent, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.4 percent and the Nasdaq composite lost 0.6 percent. Worries have risen for the US economy as higher interest rates have slowed economic growth and impacted prices for investments. The Federal Reserve has raised rates frequently since early last year to control inflation, but rates have remained high, and the world's second-largest economy, China, has not rebounded as strongly as many investors had hoped. Stock markets in Asia fell even more following discouraging data on manufacturing from China.

Townhall: Raising the Debt Ceiling is Nothing but Government Theft
Raising the Debt Ceiling is Nothing but Government Theft
Congress raising the debt ceiling is pure theft from current and future generations, as they continue to spend and borrow without any intention of paying it back. They take the money now, spend it on useless wars and lie to us about paying it back someday. It's time for us to hold Congress accountable and demand a sustainable fiscal policy.

The Epoch Times: ANALYSIS: Espionage, Corruption Dog China’s Naval Industry
ANALYSIS: Espionage, Corruption Dog China’s Naval Industry
Suspicions of espionage and corruption in China's military industry are on the rise. Recent incidents involving top staff members of military shipyards, including an investigation into the former Huazhong Institute of Optoelectronics Technology director, and the mysterious passing of the chief accountant and deputy director of the 711 Research Institute, have raised questions about the sensitive research conducted by these institutions, including R&D on aircraft carriers and nuclear submarines. While China's military has been making a show of force to intimidate Taiwan, experts say that the country's naval efforts are highly vulnerable and its aircraft carriers are primarily propaganda tools, with China's carrier formations lacking effective screening and anti-submarine capabilities.

Townhall: CUNY Law: A Graduation Under Siege
CUNY Law: A Graduation Under Siege
The recent graduation speech by CUNY law graduate Fatima Mousa Mohammed exemplifies the infiltration of extreme left-wing ideologies into education, and the complicit behavior of the CUNY Law administration. Mohammed's rhetoric was disrespectful towards American institutions and our ally, Israel. This problem is systemic, and universities are becoming hotbeds for radical ideologies, stifling intellectual diversity and intensifying societal polarization.

Despite the discord caused by Mohammed's speech, figures from both sides of the political spectrum united in disapproval. Yet, the CUNY Law administration remains silent. Education should promote critical thinking and diverse perspectives, not extremist ideologies. Conservatives must push for a balanced education that promotes patriotism, respect for law enforcement, and appreciation for the sacrifices made by our military. Only then can we ensure that the next generation understands the true greatness of America and works towards its continued prosperity.

Forbes: Thomas Walkup And The Rare Dominant Zero-Point Performance
Thomas Walkup And The Rare Dominant Zero-Point Performance
Basketball player Thomas Walkup chose not to score any points during the EuroLeague Final Four playoffs, instead focusing on his defense and racking up assists. In the semifinal, he locked down Monaco's lead scorer, helping Olympiacos win 76-62. In the final against Real Madrid, he again went scoreless, but attempted five shots and recorded six assists. Despite Olympiacos leading for much of the game, they lost in the final seconds. Walkup's choice to play an unselfish role is reminiscent of Dennis Rodman's 0-point game and John Lucas's 24-assist game.

Townhall: The Supreme Court Finally Reins in EPA Water Czars
The Supreme Court Finally Reins in EPA Water Czars
A unanimous Supreme Court decision limits the EPA's power over privately-owned property development. The EPA and Army Corps of Engineers often tried to claim jurisdiction over minor bodies of water and "wetlands" under the 1972 Clean Water Act, which inhibits property development. The Sackett family was able to fight back against the EPA's regulations, thanks to representation by the Pacific Legal Foundation. If the family had not succesed, the US government was ready to implement an even broader regulation on "wetlands" and "navigable waters" that would have kept landowners from developing their properties without a permit. The Sacketts' victory limited the EPA and Corps of Engineers' power, allowing them to regulate only wetlands that bore practical indistinguishability to larger adjoining bodies of water.
