Ratcliffe stated that if the law was applied evenly, both Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden would have been indicted, with Biden's case being a "slam dunk." Ratcliffe called for reform of the Justice Department.

China does not recognize Taiwan's sovereignty and has simuated an invasion. Taiwan has deployed its own fighter planes, ships, and missile system in response to growing Chinese aggression. China claims the aggression is due to the United States pursuing diplomatic relations with Taiwan. If China were to invade Taiwan, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said it would be "devastating" for the global economy.

NASCAR's effort to return to Le Mans for the first time since 1976 was a success, as the No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro completed the full 24 hours despite not being eligible for any class victories. The car, dubbed "Le Monster," had a distinct rumble that drowned out the competition, and it was a passion project for Jim France, who first attended Le Mans in 1962 with his father, NASCAR founder Bill France Sr. The NASCAR team involved included Rick Hendrick, Chevrolet, and Goodyear, and the final product was heavily modified from what is currently being used in the Cup Series, with this car much faster than anyone expected. Two late mechanical problems took the Camaro out of contention to beat the GTE class, but it finished 10th.

Kyrie Irving has found a new shoe partner after parting ways with Nike last season. He was seen wearing Anta Shock Wave Pro 5 at his basketball camp and recently announced that he would be signing a new shoe deal soon. Nike cut ties with Irving after he posted an antisemitic link, and he was eventually traded to the Dallas Mavericks. The deal with Anta has not been made official yet, and NBA free agency begins on July 6.
