Investigators from the US State Department allegedly found that scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology intentionally engineered dangerous coronaviruses to create new mutant viruses prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. The scientists reportedly combined SARS-like viruses with an unknown cave virus, with one project creating a highly infectious super-coronavirus with a kill-rate likely to have never emerged in nature. The report also alleges that the Chinese military was developing biological weapons while funding researchers at the Wuhan lab. The PLA's vaccine specialist, Zhou Yusen, was reportedly working with the military on virological biological weapons and vaccines at the time of the outbreak, with suspicion falling on him after he produced a patent for a COVID vaccine with remarkable speed in February 2020, a month after the pandemic began.
