Fox News: The over-the-top wedding era is sending some guests into debt
Due to social media pressure, wedding costs have skyrocketed, causing guests to go into debt. According to The Knot, the average cost of a wedding hit $30,000 in 2021. The expense of being a bridesmaid has risen due to the added costs of trips and additional events. Guests might pay more than $600 in 2023, according to a BankRate survey. Social media is also making couples want more luxurious weddings and related events, even if they can't afford it. The wedding industry grew 10% in 2022 to $71 billion, but couples might start to have smaller ceremonies or elope due to the increased costs.

American Thinker: ‘Show Me the Motive’ Postscript
The Durham report on the alleged collusion between Donald Trump and Russia fails to provide any convincing evidence of motive for Russia to collude. It is unclear why Russia would want a President Trump, who pursued more assertive foreign and defense policies against Russian aggression, over a more pliable, internationalist President Clinton. With hindsight, the Trump administration’s policies likely cost President Putin a four-year-plus delay in his plan to invade Ukraine, while in contrast, a Clinton victory would have made it easier for Russia to achieve its globalist objectives. In the 2024 presidential election, potential U.S. adversaries will likely support the Democratic candidate.

Liberty Nation: Lost Tourists or Chinese Spies?
Chinese spies posing as tourists have been apprehended at Fort Wainwright, a US army installation in Alaska. The Chinese Communist Party and People's Liberation Army have increased efforts to gather intelligence from US military bases, as well as engaging in air and sea activity in the South China Sea and the Taiwan Straits. The Fort Wainwright incident was not the first, and comes in the context of years of Chinese espionage activity against the US military.

Fox News: Utah parent calls out school district for removing Bible over ‘vulgarity or violence': 'Ridiculous'
The removal of the Bible from elementary and middle schools in Utah's Davis School District has sparked controversy. The book was restricted based on age appropriateness due to vulgarity or violence after a complaint was filed, but some parents are pushing back, claiming it's an attack on Christian values. Last year, Utah passed a law to restrict pornographic and inappropriate material in public schools.

Foreign Policy: The Greatest Movie Epic You’ve Never Heard of
Tamil cinema had a banner year in 2023, with the historical-fantasy epic Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 and its sequel drawing widespread admiration and massive returns. The two films are based on a beloved Tamil five-volume epic of the same name, which was once mandatory reading across demographics in Tamil Nadu. The cinematic adaptations, despite not maintaining complete fidelity to the books, are masterfully crafted by director Mani Ratnam and rewarded attentive viewing, offering a dense tapestry of realpolitik, romance, and picaresque adventure. The films’ success, however, has not been without controversy, as their portrayal of a Hindu emperor’s achievements in expanding a Hindu empire has faced allegations of appropriation by Hindu nationalists.

National Review: The Press Has Picked a Side, and It’s Not the Parents
The corporate press has taken a clear side in the war between conservative parents and school administrators over the future of U.S. education, repeatedly favoring teachers' strikes and portraying the homeschooling negatively. One example is the Associated Press' reporting on Tennessee's legislation that prohibits schools from promoting "divisive concepts" such as the superior or inferior nature of a race or sex or the fundamental or irredeemable racism or sexism of America. The article fails to mention that African American history is still being taught in the state. Instead, the AP focuses on anxious teens' belief that minority representation in school curricula is being removed, portraying the law as limiting discussions of race and gender, although its aim is to prevent division, stereotyping, and scapegoating based on these concepts.
Red State: Christian and Muslim Parents Unite Against Ottawa Mandate to Use 'They/Them' Pronouns for All Students
Parents and religious communities in Ottawa protest the new initiative of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board mandating the use of non-binary pronouns in classrooms, and incorporating gender identities across all grade levels, without parental consent or opt-out options. High rates of absenteeism were recorded, leading to a large protest that escalated into physical altercations and arrests. Some parents have opted to move their children to Catholic schools, while activists against gender ideology are working with concerned parents to hold bigger protests. Meanwhile, the Province of New Brunswick has announced a policy change requiring parental consent for name and pronoun changes at school, with new requirements for gender-neutral washrooms to be private.
National Review: After Shootings and Killings, Colorado School Leaders Backtrack on Anti-Cop Stance
Denver parents and district leaders want to reintegrate police back into the city's public schools amid deteriorating safety conditions, following a unanimous vote in 2020 to remove police officers from high schools. Proponents of reintegrating police point to a series of high-profile shootings and killings at or around local high schools that have shaken the community this school year. Some critics of this move argue that it is dangerous, traumatic, and a form of white supremacy. Racial-justice advocates behind the 2020 decision have touted a significant drop in law-enforcement referrals as evidence of success in fighting disproportionality and ending the "school-to-prison pipeline." However, recent events and data suggest that violent and potentially dangerous students are being placed in the general student population, and school leaders argue that they don't have the resources to respond to all safety issues.

Fox News: 'VICIOUS SOCIOPATH': Psychologist says Joran van der Sloot 'toyed with' Natalee Holloway's family for years
Dutch national and primary suspect in the Natalee Holloway case, Joran van der Sloot, left Peru to face trial in the United States for fraud and extortion charges involving the case. Van der Sloot was also convicted for the murder of Stephany Flores Ramirez in 2010, and more time was added to his sentence for a drug-smuggling scandal he was involved in while in jail. Crime experts on Fox News panel discussed the extortion charges, the alleged cover-up that hints at Aruba's attempt to protect its tourism industry from negative publicity, and the difficulty of proving a murder charge without a body.

American Thinker: Think of your family before reacting to various witch hunts against President Trump
- Trump supporters are facing the consequences of expressing their support for the former President. Protestors of January 6th, 2021 have been equated with domestic terrorists and have faced harsh sentences and prolonged detention. To ensure safety and well-being, supporters should show restraint, avoid rallies, stop donating, eliminate visual evidence of support, banish related words from vocabulary, and refrain from expressing opinions freely. Identity politics and government policies could also have dire consequences, including unemployment, destroyed small businesses, and endangering lives. The course to opt for is perfectly obvious - ensure safety and well-being of loved ones.
National Review: The Death of the Internet, Five Years Later
Five years ago, the FCC's repeal of net neutrality regulations went into effect. Many journalists and celebrities predicted a digital apocalypse, claiming that the decision would harm consumers and threaten democracy. However, in the five years since the repeal, American consumers have benefited from stronger and more extensive broadband networks, with faster average fixed and mobile broadband speeds and greater access to the internet. Consumers also enjoy more choice and competition, with wireless companies providing high-speed 5G fixed wireless service, residential fiber deployment hitting an all-time high, and cable companies upgrading their systems to enable much faster speeds. One prediction the critics made did come true: consumers have been blocked from posting or accessing politically disfavored content, but this has come from Big Tech companies, not network operators that had been subject to net-neutrality regulations.
American Thinker: Don't trust corporations with your charity
Many people complain about self-checkout registers, but I prefer them because I am in control and not solicited for charitable donations. Corporate America has proven itself unworthy of stewardship over my charitable income due to its opposition to truth on moral issues. Capitalism, climate change, crime, guns, immigration, abortion, and LGBT issues illustrate corporate America's opposition to truth. The secular humanist worldview dominates thinking in corporate America today, leading to the adoption of dogmatic rejections of truth like diversity, inclusion, and equity, and environmental, social, and governance scams. True charity must be rooted in truth, the ultimate goal of which is to point people to a magnificent spiritual truth.

Newsbusters: Liberal Podcaster Kara Swisher: CNN Overlord 'Needs to Get the F—k Out of the Way’
Kara Swisher calls for Warner Bros. boss to step aside at CNN and let "professionals take over" after new CEO Chris Licht was pushed out following a revolt among CNN employees. According to Swisher, Licht didn't "read the room" on who should succeed Jeff Zucker, whom employees loved, and has been the proxy for Warner Bros CEO, David Zaslav. Swisher also suggested CNN could be news without constantly declaring itself centrist, which she blamed on Zaslav. She advocates CNN reverts to doing news rather than opinion, an idea backed by Warner Bros board member John Malone.
