Newsbusters: PBS: 'Sickening' GOP Calls Trump Indictment 'Selective Prosecution'
PBS: 'Sickening' GOP Calls Trump Indictment 'Selective Prosecution'
Conservative pundits are dismayed that Republicans are decrying Trump's indictment as "selective prosecution." Even supposedly moderate Republicans are jumping on the "weaponizing the justice system" bandwagon. In contrast, law professor Jamil Jaffer argues that Trump's case could be compared to Hillary Clinton's email server. Meanwhile, Trump is using the indictment as a political gift, raising millions of dollars in direct mail and video campaigns. Ruth Marcus laments that the Republican Party is rallying around Trump despite their lack of belief in his innocence and the opposite is happening with the weaponization of the Justice Department under the former guy, not the current one.

The Economist: Boris Johnson strikes again
Boris Johnson strikes again
Boris Johnson, Britain's ex-prime minister, resigned as an MP after reading a report into whether he knowingly lied about illegal parties on his watch during lockdown. Johnson accused his enemies of an establishment stitch-up and claimed that the investigation was part of a witch hunt to take revenge for Brexit and ultimately to reverse the 2016 referendum result. His departure has caused chaos for the Conservatives and triggered three by-elections, which the party may struggle to hold. Johnson’s knack for stealing attention and causing trouble from within Parliament could inspire loyalty among enough acolytes to cause further problems for the Conservatives, who are trying to portray themselves as competent.

Fox News: Mike Pence walks a tightrope on Trump's classified docs indictment: 'Difficult position'
Mike Pence walks a tightrope on Trump's classified docs indictment: 'Difficult position'
Former Vice President Mike Pence calls Donald Trump’s indictment a “sad” and “troubling” day, but also emphasizes Trump’s right to a presumption of innocence. Pence repeats his stance during a speech and campaign stop in Derry, New Hampshire, as well as during a nationally syndicated radio appearance, while urging Attorney General Merrick Garland to explain the reasons for this unprecedented indictment of a former U.S. President. Meanwhile, insiders note that Pence is struggling to navigate the tension between acknowledging Trump’s troubling behavior and appealing to Republican primary voters.

Liberty Nation: Americans, Foreign Workers Competing for US Jobs
Americans, Foreign Workers Competing for US Jobs
Despite high inflation, surging borrowing costs, and a slowing economy, the US labor market remained strong in May, adding 339,000 jobs. However, it was not necessarily good news for US-born workers, who lost 369,000 jobs, while foreign-born workers gained 297,000 positions. A researcher at the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) warned that this was "unsustainable," but a Joint Economic Committee report said immigrant workers were "essential" for economic growth. The debate over the pros and cons of foreign workers will persist, but an aging US population and Social Security's impending bankruptcy meant the country needed immigrant labor.

Tens of millions of Americans receive public benefits, and the system has more people taking from it than contributing. The sweetened pandemic-era benefits undercut the concept of work. With over ten million job openings, companies are desperate to fill posts in any way possible, even if it means hiring people born overseas. Meanwhile, Social Security is in danger of bankruptcy, and without sufficient native-born workers, America must import foreign labor to keep the Ponzi scheme alive. The US needs to tackle the issue of immigrant workers while addressing an aging population and the impending shortfall in Social Security funding.

The Epoch Times: Japan to Allow More Skilled Foreign Workers to Reside Amid Labor Shortage
Japan to Allow More Skilled Foreign Workers to Reside Amid Labor Shortage
Japan's cabinet approved a plan to increase the number of industries able to offer a long-term work visa to skilled foreign workers in order to address the country's labor shortage. The plan expands the Class II visa sector from two to 11 industries, enabling Class I visa holders from the 11 sectors to apply for long-term residency. Workers must pass Japanese language and skill examinations before qualifying for the upgrade, however. The plan will come into effect by the autumn. Hashtag:

FC Barcelona Declared ‘Technically Bankrupt’ By Leading Catalan Journalist
FC Barcelona have been declared "technically bankrupt" and are struggling to get their finances in order. The club had to prove to La Liga that they can afford to bring in fresh faces and register their contracts through a viability plan, which they received on Tuesday. They are still bound by the 40% rule limiting their spending and are also facing issues with Xavi Hernandez's contract renewal. The club has not officially declared bankruptcy, but a leading Catalan journalist has claimed that they are in a "situation of technical bankruptcy."

American Thinker: Is the deep state pushing the UFO/alien narrative on conservatives?
Is the deep state pushing the UFO/alien narrative on conservatives?
Conservative media figures Matt Walsh, Tucker Carlson and Robert Kennedy are promoting a story about a former Air Force officer claiming the US government has collected crashed UFOs and pilots’ bodies for weapons research. Carlson and Kennedy accused major news outlets of ignoring the claims in their shows. Walsh’s Facebook posts on the topic sparked debate among his readers. Conspiracy theories are being revealed as factual by conservative influencers but some conservative media outlets, such as the Gateway Pundit, are reporting on UFO sightings in Las Vegas. However, there is a risk for the conservative constituency, which does not believe mainstream narratives, to become involved in distorted conspiracy theories.

National Review: U.S. Chamber of Commerce Files Suit Against HHS ‘Drug Price Control Program’
U.S. Chamber of Commerce Files Suit Against HHS ‘Drug Price Control Program’
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has filed a lawsuit against the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) over a new drug price negotiation program that aims to lower drug prices for Medicare beneficiaries. The Chamber of Commerce is claiming that the program, which requires pharmaceutical companies to offer a 25 to 60 percent discount to Medicare beneficiaries, constitutes government price controls that harm patients, limit access to medicine, and stifle American innovation and also violates the Fifth and Eighth Amendments. The statute also requires pharmaceutical companies to extricate themselves from the Medicaid and Medicare programs in order to avoid excessive fines. If the program is not stopped, the first ten drugs subject to the new statute will be announced on September 1, 2023.

Game-Changer: United Kingdom Stops Routine Prescribing of 'Gender Affirming' Drugs For Children
The UK National Health Service has shifted away from prescribing puberty blockers to children with gender dysphoria. It will only administer the hormones as part of clinical research, and has established an oversight board to research the effects of puberty blockers. Meanwhile, in the US, many medical professionals continue to prescribe these drugs without sufficient evidence supporting their mental health benefits.

Winnie-the-Pooh Is Suddenly Teaching Kids Harsh New Lessons - Not So Warm and Fuzzy Anymore
Winnie-the-Pooh is being used in a book titled "Stay Safe: Run Hide Fight," to teach children what to do in case of a school shooting in Texas. The book has caused confusion among parents, some finding copies in their children's backpacks and mistaking it for a book about hiding from a sibling. The publisher, Praetorian Consulting, said that the book was designed to "assist parents and schools in fostering a culture of safety and preparedness."

PJ Media: Missing: Where Are America's Urban Kids?
Missing: Where Are America's Urban Kids?
There has been a surge of missing kids in America's major cities since May 1, with 45 kids missing from Cleveland alone, according to police reports. The reasons behind the spike are unclear, but range from custody disputes to trafficking and gang activity. Many other major cities are also experiencing a rise in reported missing children over the same period. Since the epidemic began, the US Marshals Service has launched a national missing child operation to locate and recover endangered missing children. As summer approaches, parents should be vigilant and aware of the increased risk that their children may face from various dangers.

Jaime Munguia Vs. Sergiy Derevyanchenko: Odds, Records, Prediction
Boxers Jaime Munguia and Sergiy Derevyanchenko are set to face off in a highly anticipated fight this weekend. Munguia has faced criticism for his recent run of B-level opponents, and observers wonder whether he can be a top-notch middleweight or super middleweight. A victory against Derevyanchenko, who has made life difficult for elite boxers like Daniel Jacobs and Gennadiy Golovkin, would earn Munguia more respect in the boxing world. While Munguia is the favorite, Derevyanchenko's toughness and technical skills could pose a challenge. Nevertheless, Munguia is expected to go for a KO and win the fight, possibly in the eighth round.

The Epoch Times: 12,000-Year-Old Tiny Bone Flutes Found in Israel That Imitate Predatory Birds
12,000-Year-Old Tiny Bone Flutes Found in Israel That Imitate Predatory Birds
Researchers have discovered seven miniature flutes, made of waterfowl bones, in the prehistoric swamp site, Eynan-Mallaha, in Northern Israel. The bones, found in the circular homes of hunter-gatherers, have been intentionally manufactured more than 12,000 years ago to produce sounds resembling the calls of predatory birds, and the researchers suggest they may have been used for making music, hunting, or some form of communication with the birds. The Natufian archaeological culture from about 15,000 to 11,700 years ago marks the transition from hunter-gatherer Palaeolithic societies into the fully-fledged agricultural economies of the Neolithic, according to the paper.
